Stretch droids were a type of droid with two brown legs, a black, ribbed cylindrical body and a conical head with a single black photoreceptor. In 32 BBY, a stretch droid was stood next to an RMS droid near the door of the Toydarian Watto's shop in the town of Mos Espa on the planet Tatooine when the Jedi Qui-Gon Jinn, Queen Padmé Amidala, the Gungan Jar Jar Binks and the astromech droid R2-D2 entered.
Behind the scenesEdit
A stretch droid first appeared in the 1999 prequel trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. The droid was first identified in "Every Droid in Star Wars" a video released in 2019 by the Star Wars Kids YouTube channel. The name stretch droid originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was originally used in the caption for a promotional still from Episode I published in the Hyperspace Fan Club section of StarWars.com.
