- "Skywalker again! He's the one who stopped us in the Styx system."
- ―A enslaver in Luke Skywalker's dream
The Styx system was located in the Baxel sector,[1] within the Slice portion of[2] the Outer Rim Territories.[1] In his youth on the planet Tatooine, the Human farmboy Luke Skywalker dreamed of battling enslavers. In one such daydream, one of the enslavers that Skywalker imagined fighting recalled the latter's stopping them in the Styx system.[3]
The system shared its name with the pirate starship Styx.[4]
Behind the scenes[]
The Styx system was first mentioned in the seventeenth issue of the Star Wars comic series, which was written by Archie Goodwin and Chris Claremont[3] and published by Marvel Comics on July 25, 1978.[5] Star Wars 17's mention only occurred in a dream, leaving the system's in-universe existence ambiguous[3] until the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas confirmed it. The book also placed the system in grid square U-11.[2]
