TIE fighter pilots were an elite class within the Imperial Navy of the Galactic Empire. Only 10 percent of cadets in the Imperial pilot training program graduated. Those who did tended to be both proud and arrogant. The precision and streamlined design of the TIE fighter—one of the Imperial Navy's most recognizable symbols of power—was a source of pride for TIE pilots.
