Opening crawl[]

End of an Empire
The great Hyperspace War begins. On desolate Kirrek, Odan-Urr uses his battle meditation against the enemy forces, but finds it difficult to sway the single-minded fury of the Massassi. Master Ooroo instructs all others to withdraw. As bloodthirsty Sith forces boil over the citadel walls, the jellyfish master splits open his crystalline case. Poisonous gas billows out, and the attackers drop like mown grass. But with every moment, Ooroo's irreplaceable cyanogen atmosphere drains away....

In Cinnagar, Jori confronts her brother next to the body of Aarrba the Hutt. Devastated by what he has done, Gav flees in his ship. Jori zooms after him, unable to understand what he is doing. Gav returns to the red giant where Naga Sadow has taken his meditation sphere. Gav's petty anger has caused a devastating war; Sadow has tricked him one too many times. Gav fires on the sphere, destroying Sadow's concentration, and his illusionary forces....

On Coruscant, Memit Nadill and other Jedi barricaded in the Senate Hall battle as Massassi swarm over the buildings. Explosions light the sky. Then nine-tenths of the enemy forces vanish – mere illusions! The Jedi charge out, rallying. The Sith invaders reel with the turn of their fortunes, and they flee for their pyramidal ships. Memit Nadill and the other surviving Jedi raise their lightsabers in triumph.

At the meditation sphere, Sadow sends a message, begging Gav to come alone, so they can talk. But when Gav arrives at the damaged sphere he finds it empty, abandoned. Sadow has lured him here – while the Dark Lord has escaped. Stranded, Gav watches Sadow's flagship soar off.

Teta's fleet arrives, led by Jori; after Gav transmits crucial information, Sadow's flagship reappears with the remnants of his battered Sith fleet. On the verge of defeat, Sadow triggers a secret weapon aboard his flagship, causing the destruction of the red giant star. Sadow's defeated fleet vanishes into hyperspace to the presumed safety of their own Sith Empire.

Gav warns everyone to escape, especially Jori. He's trapped on the damaged sphere, and there's nothing she can do to rescue him – no time. She must GO! Teta's fleet lurches after Sadow in hot pursuit just after the star explodes. Waves of solar flares engulf the meditation sphere, incinerating Gav. Jori just sees the flash of light, the last instant of her brother's life, and then she is off after the Dark Lord of the Sith.

Publisher's summary[]

Featuring the historic confrontation between the Old Republic and the Empire, The Fall of the Sith Empire cannot end but with the victory of the Old Republic. But even winners have losses, and the Sith Empire walks away from this battle with a victory of its own… one which will later spell doom for the Old Republic.

Plot summary[]

As the Dark Lord of the Sith Naga Sadow's surviving warships return to the Sith Empire, he is confronted by the presumed-dead Ludo Kressh, who had in fact sent a decoy ship to Khar Delba. Kressh declares himself the new Dark Lord of the Sith and orders his forces to attack Sadow's fleet. However, Kressh is soon killed when Sadow willingly crashes one of his ships into the hull of Kressh's flagship.

On Kirrek, the defeated Sith retreat to their ships. Jedi Knight Odan-Urr reflects on the recent events. While he welcomes the victory over the Sith, he laments the loss of his Master Ooroo. In return for Empress Teta's amnesty, Commander Llaban urges the former Kirrek rebels, who had joined forces with the Queen to repel the Sith, to work toegether to creat a time of peace and rebuilding.

On Coruscant, the Senate Hall holds a victory celebration. Memit Nadill disconnects his lightsaber from its power pack, hoping that he does not need to use it in battle again. As the celebration rages, reparation work begins in Coruscant. Memit hopes that the Empress fared as well as they did.

Meanwhile, Emperor Teta's fleet approaches the coordinates in Sith space provided by Gav Daragon. Her fleet attacks Sadow's tattered fleet, inflicting damage on his depleted forces. Accompanied by Jori Daragon, Empress Teta issues an ultimatum ordering Sadow to surrender. Sadow refuses and orders the Massassi on the other ships to kill the Sith Lords commanding them, creating a large barrier between the Dark Lord and Teta's fleet.

The Sith ships are soon destroyed in an explosion. Naga Sadow sets his remaining battleship on a course for the Denarii Nova. Empress Teta sends several gunships after him but the Sith Lord uses the Denarii Nova's flares to destroy the pursuing ships. Believing Sadow to be dead, Empress Teta recalls her remaining ships and brings them back to Koros Major.

Meanwhile, on Koros Major, Odan-Urr discovers a Sith holocron in one of the Empire's abandoned ships. Recalling the last words of his late Master Ooroo, he decides to create the Great Jedi Library on Ossus. Empress Teta also rewards Jori for her services during the Great Hyperspace War by appointing her as the new owner of Aarrba's repair dock.

Elsewhere, Naga Sadow takes his battleship to the moon of Yavin IV in the isolated Yavin system. Accompanied by his remaining followers and Massassi warriors, Sadow makes camp on the isolated moon. There he spends the rest of his days, attempting to rebuild the once-great Sith Empire.
