Are these guys different in any way than regular Advanced Recon Commandos aside from their weaponry? It seemed that the fellow we saw in the cartoon just happened to grab the heavy gun. If so, this should be merged into the main article. --SparqMan 18:21, 16 Dec 2005 (UTC)

  • I believe it is a separate article on the Databank and therefore should be kept as one here. Admiral J. Nebulax 21:07, 16 Dec 2005 (UTC)

If you could provide a link, that would be great. The best I could find was this text from the gun's entry, "lone troopers assigned as heavy Cip-Quad gunners often wear specialist armor, with targeting feeds that connect the helmet HUDs and the articulated harness, giving the trooper exceptional control of the heavy cannon." Still ARCs, just with specialist armor when assigned to the gun. --SparqMan 22:24, 16 Dec 2005 (UTC)

  • I'll look for it. Admiral J. Nebulax 01:20, 17 Dec 2005 (UTC)
    • Okay, there isn't a separate article. But, if they were trained to handle heavy weapons, there should be a separate article here. Admiral J. Nebulax 01:46, 17 Dec 2005 (UTC)
  • I strongly disagree. Seperate, these articles are not particularly helpful. They should be folded into the Advance Recon Commando article in the same way that there is one article for the Green Berets which includes the roles of the Weapons NCO, Operations Sergeant, etc., and in the same way that there is no need for an article like Stormtrooper heavy gunner to include an image of the E-web operator and mention that some Stormtroopers were train in their use. The move would be more encyclopedic and relevant. Just because we're a Star Wars encyclopedia doesn't mean that we have to subdivide articles into irrelevance. --SparqMan 04:26, 21 Dec 2005 (UTC)
    • Well, I still say that there should be a separate article for these troops. I guess that the ARC trooper captain page should be merged into the ARC trooper page if we go your way, right? Admiral J. Nebulax 20:21, 21 Dec 2005 (UTC)
  • Certainly. While I support our goal of comprehensively covering the Star Wars universe, it does not mean that every piece of minutia requires its own article. The general ARC trooper article would be made much more informative if the heavy gunner, pilot and captain articles were merged into it. --SparqMan 17:13, 24 Dec 2005 (UTC)
    • Actually, no. If we were to do it that way, all of the other types of clones would end up being merged into clone trooper. Admiral J. Nebulax 18:25, 24 Dec 2005 (UTC)
  • Well, if you want to get silly on the topic of making articles more informative and comprehensive by merging in these little stubs, there's another route we can go. It's easy to suggest that this article is fan extrapolation. There is no canon evidence of a specialized clone (within the specialized ARC trooper) bred to use heavy guns. This ONE exacmple of a heavy gunner is simply an ARC trooper with a heavy gun. I'm sure that had he been slain and had the ARC captain seen it fitting, another ARC would have picked up the gun and continued using it. But there's no point in going that route and cutting this completely. Instead, we can describe the use of heavy weapons by ARC troopers (missile launchers, the two guns seen in Clone Wars) in ARC troopers, something that would be out of place in clone troopers. Please refrain from snide comments in these discussions, they add nothing. --SparqMan 18:36, 24 Dec 2005 (UTC)
    • What I meant was that maybe this ARC was specially trained to handle this weapon. There's no source for it, but there should at least be a separate article for it. Admiral J. Nebulax 18:42, 24 Dec 2005 (UTC)
  • You've just said it there yourself. There are plenty of things that we could assume about the Star Wars galaxy, but it is not our place to do that. --SparqMan 20:45, 24 Dec 2005 (UTC)
    • They're named as such on the OS, just as the ARC pilot and AT-TE commander are. Surely that means they're official designations? And I don't see what's wrong with subdivision, as long as all relevant articles are linked to one another. Cramming it all into one article looks messy, IMO - Kwenn
  • Yes, official designations of a specialist unit. This is not a dictionary. It is an encyclopedia. There is no canon information to suggest that the ARC heavy gunner was any different than a standard ARC—that is pure fan extrapolation. On those grounds alone it deserves to be merged. --SparqMan 23:00, 29 Dec 2005 (UTC)
    • Actually, no. Look at the picture on the page. It clearly shows an ARC with different armor and a large blaster that is attached to his back. I don't think that's standard for all other ARCs. That is all we need to keep it as a seperate article. Admiral J. Nebulax 23:48, 29 Dec 2005 (UTC)
  • Different armor? I see an ARC with standard blue markings and kama with a customized helmet (either for use with the gun or as a personal effect). Large blaster attached to his back, yes, but we've also seen ARCs with missile launchers and other weaponry. The point is that you are creating information. Fan extrapolation is a small step from fanon. This entire article could be merged into the ARC article with two sentences. I hardly think that would make it "messy" as Kwenn worried. --SparqMan 02:01, 30 Dec 2005 (UTC)
    • I still disagree. The helmet and the fact that he has a large blaster attached to his back is all we need to keep it as a separate article. Maybe one step away from fanon, but it deserves its own article. Admiral J. Nebulax 12:39, 30 Dec 2005 (UTC)

I like the pic just one question where did u get it?--PyRo 13:55, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Unleashed Figure[]

I know sometimes they let pics of action figures onto the articles, like the McQuarrie version and Holiday Version Boba Fett figures, so I didn't know if anyone would be interested in using this picture. Star Wars Shop.com just released an ARC Heavy Gunner Unleashed figure today. Here's the link if you wanted to use it. — Sadriel Fett (Mando'a) (Bounties) 19:46, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Are they all lieutenants? If not, more pictures should be found. --Mand'alor te Siit 21:58, December 25, 2009 (UTC)
