Atton "Jaq" Rand?Edit

Whats the whole deal on "Jaq"? Where did that come from? - Redemption

  • Yes, I was wondering that too. Removed. Also removed "Category:Galactic Republic military officers". - Sikon [Talk] 12:06, 31 Oct 2005 (UTC)
    • But he was. Kuralyov 01:23, 3 Nov 2005 (UTC)
      • A Galactic Republic military officer? What makes you say that? - Sikon [Talk] 01:44, 3 Nov 2005 (UTC)
        • He himself says in the game that he fought in the Republic military against the Mandalorians. Kuralyov 01:53, 3 Nov 2005 (UTC)
          • The Jaq thing I found in the Strategy Guide for KOTOR II. User:RushinSundaws
            • It's also reprinted in the new Visual Guide. Tam 15:58, 22 Nov 2005 (UTC)
              • Yet we never hear him called by his nickname... DAWUSS 19:39, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
  • Actually, here's a thought: What if Jaq's his real name and Atton is an identity he chose for himself? This idea came to me with those Twi'leks on Nar Shaddaa saying Atton wasn't Atton at all.... DAWUSS 21:25, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
  • Yeah, that's kinda' what I thought, too. Exile Catherine 04:47, 6 January 2007 (UTC) Exile_Catherine

Is this meant to be nominated for a Vfd? I can't tell. --SparqMan 01:47, 3 Nov 2005 (UTC)

  • Why should it? He's a valid KOTOR II character... oh, wait, it's the {{k2char}} template that's being VFD'd, so it shows here as well. - Sikon [Talk] 01:55, 3 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Redeemed Jedi?Edit

Atton wasn't a Jedi, was he? Then why is he in the category Redeemed Jedi? ----Inmobilus 20:01, 16 Nov 2005 (UTC)

  • He became one of the Lost Jedi. QuentinGeorge 20:06, 16 Nov 2005 (UTC)
    • We don't know if he became a true Jedi. The term "Lost Jedi" is figurative. - Sikon [Talk] 01:14, 17 Nov 2005 (UTC)

This is purely speculation but I think I'll leave it here for you guys to consider.... Does anyone else think that Atton was supposed to be the (female) Exile's lead romance? He hints at it a few times when speaking to Bao-Dur and Mical, Kreia mentions it to the Exile when she mentions about what he fantasizes about, and at Malachor V, the Exile even asks Kreia if Atton loved her, and perhaps this'll be up for interpretation, but I almost saw it as being asked with a bit of excitement and curiosity, like she can't wait to find out and hear the answer she wants to hear. If you ask me, I think Atton was supposed to be the lead romance, but there obviously isn't anything to solidify that thought. - DAWUSS 7:52, 30 Jan 2006

[square thingy] Yeah, I think he was supposed to, except I've never made a female Exile. I mean, better than hooking up with Bao-Dur or his former Padawan or one of the droids or Hanharr or something... Not A Member 19:15, 6 July 2006 Unsigned comment by (talk • contribs).

  • Indeed. It was cut from the final game (like oh so many other things. . .) but Atton was supposed to die in a femal exiles arms on Malachor V. Well, if you have more influence with him than Mical, I suppose. Google it. Warhobbe 01:01, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
    • Only if Atton didn't defeat Sion. If he did (this was going to be a player-Atton controlled fight) then he'd just leave with the Exile. --Redemption 01:17, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
  • Also, if the Exile had more influence with Mical than with Atton, Kreia twisted his jealousy until he fell to the dark side and confronted Mical on Malachor. In the sound clip I heard, he makes a comment about having loved the Exile. Exile Catherine 04:46, 6 January 2007 (UTC)Catherine_Exile

His homeplanetEdit

Serroco people found in the refugee sector on Nar Shaddaa look like Chinese, or Asian in general. Since Atton doesn't look like an Asian, could he be from Eres III? 12:16, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

I'd say he is Corellian. Plus, Chinese, or Aisan in general does not exist in Star Wars. Unsigned comment by (talk • contribs).

  • It is interesting to note that during the game, he is also introduced as the "Enchani-skilled pilot". Could this be any consideration to an Enchani heritage or just something perhaps he was trained as under the Sith? Mikda Fopal

  • Someone put that Atton was from Alderaan of all places which doesn't make any sense, since people from Alderaan tend to be philosophers and pacifistic and Atton is definenantly not either of those things. -Jocasta Silver

Not Necessarily a JediEdit

Why does this article state that Atton was trained as a Jedi by the Exile as if it were fact? Truth of the matter is, he CAN become a Jedi. He doesn't become one during the game necessarily. Therefore, you cannot state it as fact until some later source comes along and tells us as much. Gah.(Ulicus 23:01, 21 May 2006 (UTC))

Removed 'Sith-Assassin' LinkEdit

I've removed the link to Sith Assassins, since Atton was an "assassin for the Sith" - but not a "Sith Assassin" in that sense.(Ulicus 23:01, 21 May 2006 (UTC))

Can we get a better picture than that? It's so dark and...bad.Bredd13 18:46, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

Who put the thing about his urethra in there? How is that true? And how do we know that? I'm removing it. Unsigned comment by (talk • contribs).

  • It's probably due to Atton's obvious distrust of droids, like when he accuses T3 of stealing the EB or say that droids "break in the head." But calling it technophobia is probably going to far, given that he has no problem with flying the Ebon Hawk. Jediphile 21:48, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

Provide transport for Coorta?Edit

I've heard this theory before, but I've never seen anything to support the idea that Atton was supposed to help Coorta bring the Exile to the Exhange. Even if it does make sense, and explains why Atton is on Peragus, it should marked as conjecture, or else the source of that information should be given. Jediphile 21:47, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

It never once mentions anywhere in the game that Atton was helping Coorta. Doesn't Coorta's miner's log say that the "science officer", really HK 50, was going to help him? Darth Macropolis 17:12 January 6 07

I don't remember if it was explicitly said, but I know it was strongly inferred if you're playing LS Female, it's why he was in jail. I may boot it up later this week and find the exact quotes Leoroc 22:51, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

I know it is only a theory, but it appears in BTS section on Coorta's page, so I put it into Atton's BTS section as well. I also added a note that "the backstory of many major events in the game is never revealed directly and may only be learned by putting together little pieces of information (most notably the Battle of Malachor V)". So, since I have no reputation here, it is up to the bosses to decide, should this passage live or not Mauser 20:08, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Do we have any sort of canon source that confirms Atton was working as a miner? It seems very unlikely. It's all but laid out in the holo-recording of Coorta and the HK droid that Atton was on Peragus to transport the Jedi for Coorta. 00:47, February 6, 2013 (UTC)

The Jaq Issue.Edit

I noticed a fiew disguessions up. i don't remember him being calld Jaq in any canon source either. can anytone explain? Valin "Tnu" "Shido" Suul 21:39, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

Th ultimate visual guide does get things wrong, though. User:1705jallen

Atton Rand was originally supposed to be the name of the main character of the early production version of Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, but was cut out of it. The player character was eventually named Jaden Korr. If the player beats the game at least twice and gets both "light side" and "dark side" endings. User:Kami-Sama

If you read the qouteation above (forgive my poor spelling) it says that atton rand was originally designed as the main character in Jedi Acadamy so dose that mean they are bothe eaqual in power and abilitie. User:Kami-Sama

No. It means that he was originally concept art for Jaden (with the name "Atton Rand"), but was replaced by Jaden (or even kyle's other apprentice, who actually resembles him quite closely, now that I think about it)--Logan Felipe 03:25, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

Apart from the fact that this article is plagued by run-on sentences and displaced commas, where in the heck does this info come from?

He eventually came in contact with Coorta, a greedy miner working at the Peragus Mining Facility, who was planning to smuggle an unconscious Jedi Exile to Nar Shaddaa to collect a standing bounty on Jedi. Coorta required Atton's skills in order to accomplish this, but, unfortunately, he was caught by the station security and left imprisoned within a force field.

Someone needs to do some copyediting and fact checking before this is allowed to become an FA.-- 07:39, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

  • Another thing, twelve sentences start with the word "However". That seems more than a little excessive and repetitive.-- 07:42, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Atton's LightsaberEdit

Can we remove the picture showing "Atton's prowess with a lightsaber"? I'll give a few reasons why we should.

1. IF, and only IF, he became a Jedi, it is at this time unknown whether he {or for that matter, Bao-Dur, Mira, and the Disciple} used a single-blade, Jar'Kai or two blades {as two lightsabers does not indicate knowledge of Jar'Kai} or a double-bladed lightsaber. Just because the startegy guide recommends a double-bladed lightsaber doesn't mean it's canon

2. In that picture, he is using a red lightsaber. Isn't the light side story canonical? Now, I know that some Jedi used red blades, but such Jedi were rare. Until a canonical color and a lightsaber type are chosen, I recommend that we use a picture of Atton brandishing a single yellow lightsaber, since he can become a Jedi Sentinel, and Jedi Sentinels usually used yellow crystals, although color doesn't necessarily indicate one's Jedi class. But it would be a good default choice, like Juhani's default lightsaber is a single blue lightsaber, and Jolee's default lightsaber is a single green lightsaber.

Do any of you guys agree?--Jedi Kasra 22:12, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

I agree. Having the picture gives people the impression that it was his weapon and that he had some mastery in it, which is 100% assumption. I guess I will take it out. 08:00, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

This article if FULL of things that may or may not be canon, though they are presented as if they were for certain. This article needs some serious work. I spent some time fixing some of it up, but the article practically needs to be re-written. Why can't people realize that the way that they play through a KOTOR game isn't necessarily how it is interpreted in canon? Besides the 'point of view', there is also much in the way of guesses about what he thought or felt, along with other stuff that is pure speculation. Again, this article needs some serious work. 08:30, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

  • Unfortunately with a game like this, a lot of speculation is required. With KOTOR, it is assumed that the most extreme light-side avenues are canon. Bastila's relationship with Revan, even though it is completely possible to play the game LS and not pursue that particular avenue, is considered canon. It's a part of what makes the good game story. The relationship with Bastila is also part of the game developer's intentions for the game experience, so to leave it out of an article because of its dubious canonicity would be a disservice to the Wookieepedia user who is interested in learning about the game itself rather than merely the canonical character. The same goes here. Atton is not only an individual in the Star Wars universe, he is also a game toon who the developers reasonably intended the player to train as a Jedi in order to get the full depth of the game. To leave out information on Atton-the-game-character for the sake of Atton-the-historical-individual is to paint an incomplete picture for the Wookieepedia reader.

I think it is reasonble for us to infer some things about Atton, such as the liklihood of his Jedi training and the possibility of his falling in love with the Exile. This would not be a very useful encyclopedic article if it did not at least contain information about those aspects of the game character. This article is as much about the character that the player encounters in the game as it is about the canonical individual who exists in the Star Wars universe. Israi 19:36, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Eye colorEdit

I've been playing through the game on a HD TV and I've noticed that Atton's eyes are definitely not brown, they are gray or dark blue. I'm changing the article, and I can post a close-up shot as proof if anyone wants it. Israi 04:14, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

  • I don't care what the hell you've been playing on. His eyes aren't blue. It's a very dull brown - almost grey but it's still brown. Once again, it seems I have to post the damn skin file to prove this...image shack dot U S )/img77/9568/attonskinheadgy0.png Atton's head. --RedemptionRedemptionusersymbolTalk 19:41, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
    • And I don't care what you've been smoking because those eyes are very clearly gray and not any shade of brown. Israi 19:44, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
      • How charming. I don't have all afternoon (nor is it worth anytime in an entire lifespan) to argue with you over a freaking video game characters eye color. So I suggest you examine the image more closely and admit your error. --RedemptionRedemptionusersymbolTalk 19:51, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
        • Here is proof positive. I eyedropped Atton's eye from your image at various points and painted the color samples onto the blank part of the image to clearly show that his eye is made up of numerous shades of gray. photo bucket dot com )/albums/v207/theantiduck/atton.jpg Here. Israi 19:54, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
          • Like I said, a very dull brown. If that color was his hair then it'd still be brown...greying but still brown. If you want to sit here and argue with yourself, be my guest...--RedemptionRedemptionusersymbolTalk 19:57, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
            • Show that image to any other Wookieepedian and ask them what color the eye is, and then maybe I'll think you're not full of crap. His eyes are gray, period, and I'm going to keep changing them to the correct color until a concensus of unbiased Wookieepedians tells me to stop.Israi 20:00, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
hazel It's hazel
  • I think its gray.-Darth Homer 14:08, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

(as quoted from the main page)

    • So what we've got is two who say brown, two who say gray, and one who says hazel. Hardly a convincing case for Atton's eyes being brown. Israi 21:14, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

dose anyone else notice atton's bloodstripes? does that make him coerillian? (sorry i dont know how to spell it)

  • can you point them out? i allways thought he was corellian!

if you look at aton while he's wearing regular clothes, or his ribbed jacket outfit, then you'll notice yello stipes running down his black, millitary-stye pants legs.HK-47 rebuilt 20:30, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

Main QuoteEdit

I suggest changing the main quote to:

"In the end, she sacrificed herself to keep my secret, to prevent the Sith from knowing about that touch of the Force inside me. She wasted her life to save me. Me."

because it says more about his history, his force-sensitivity, and his personality than the current quote. Any objections?

Does he join the Jedi Order?Edit

Does Atton Rand join the recreated Jedi Order with the Jedi Exile's other companions? --Bron Hañda 18:57, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Is it just me, or is the date given for Atton's birth after the game?--HighTime 12:42, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

  • It may look that way at first but it isn't. Don't forget that 5 BBY is later than 3005 BBY, for example. He was born 32-29 years before TSL according to the current dates. NayayenOld Republic military symboltalk 12:48, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

Suggested cut content?Edit

I was just parsing through my files looking for a set of scripts for a bug fix and came across a dialog named "attondem." At first this dialog looks like his comlink mining tunnels dialog. Upon further inspection, I discovered it was actually very different. It has the same general prompts as atton about the supplies and droids, but it appears to be from someone trapped in the "eastern section" that also appears to be a party member. It looks like this has the same "Something on your mind?" prompt that atton gives but lacks VO's. It also makes mention of escaping on a shuttle to the planet's surface and contains information about Mira and a script called "a_addfakemira" which I can't find. I think this might indicate that in earlier stages of development you weren't supposed to find atton in prison, you were supposed to rescue him as well as encounter and party up with mira. It also indicates that you could go to Peragus' surface, or that Telos was originally Peragus. This is mere conjecture but worth looking into. For those of you with Kotor Tool, the file is in dialogs.bif-- 01:19, April 2, 2011 (UTC)

EDIT: Okay, the last above entry was written late at night in a very tired state, sooooo... I made a mistake. It does have a single VO for the line: "I know we need to get off this planet. There's been too much blasterfire around here for me to stay." Also, it occured to me that rather than cut content, this is actually Atton's dialog for the E3 demonstration (attondem) and as such it may be a random tidbit of overlooked files. --Alexms96 22:22, April 2, 2011 (UTC)

  • As interesting as that is it must be verified. Speculation is a dangerous road to travel. Karohalva 22:52, April 2, 2011 (UTC)
    • I agree with this entirely, chances are it's nothing and given its exclusion from the game as a whole it really isn't that important. Also upon further review I noticed a typo in the edit above, it was supposed to be "this is probably Atton's dialog..." Alexms96 22:52, April 17, 2011 (UTC)
