This cannot be valid because the Ralltiir system, including Ralltiir, is located in Darpa Sector. -- Riffsyphon1024 01:35, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)

  • I suppose WEG didn't know that when making Scavenger Hunt...perhaps a redirect? MarcK 01:54, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
    • That would be best. Also we don't know if that is an alternate name for Darpa. -- Riffsyphon1024 01:56, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
    • How credible are sources that mention "Darpa"? Bantam? Worst case, if "Darpa" is legit: Empire must have renamed the Sector between 1ABY and whatever post-ROTJ novel invented "Darpa". Or the sector boundaries were redrawn. Sundew 03:05, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
    • Anyhow, Scavenger Hunt was printed in 1989. How could WEG have prescience enough to anticipate mistaken coinage of "Darpa" by another company, many years later? The fault is due to whoever invented "Darpa" without checking older literature. Sundew 03:12, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
    • Recheck old references: is "Darpa" identification explicit in the text, or is it merely an assumption made by Bob Vitas' list (or someone else)? It's a bad habit to copy from Encyclopedia without verification. Sundew 03:12, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
      • Carty's Galaxy Map at uses the most up to date sources, with Darpa Sector representing the area of Ralltiir, Rhinnal, and Esseles along the Perlemian Trade Route. Furthermore, recent literature and reference guides name it as Darpa, bordering Bormea, but I have not seen nor heard Ralltiir getting its own sector. -- Riffsyphon1024 04:19, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
        • Let's slow down. Ralltiir IS in Darpa Sector. This is not copyng from Nav-Computer or CUSWE w/o verification. Also, WOTC isn't perfect, but they do a lot of research, and many of their authors are previous WEG authors. Neither WOTC nor Bantam coined the name Darpa Sector, the name comes from WEG. Please refer to Star Wars Adventure Journal # 5 (WEG 1995), Star Wars Adventure Journal #7 (WEG 1995), Star Wars Adventure Journal #9 (WEG 1996). So the real problem is not Bantam's, WOTC's, Bob Vitas's, Cartographer's, nor that of anyone here at Wiki. There was a continuity error within the ranks of WEG, pure and simple. Possible solutions:

1) Ralltiir Sector=Darpa Sector. This is not the only case of a Sector being given different names in different sources. Consider the confusion surrounding the location of Dorvalla. 2) The sector redrawing thing is plausible. Darpa Sector was long dominated by the Esselian Empire. The New Order tried to break Esselian power. Ralltiir may have been given its own Sector and even its own senator to lessen the extent of Esselian power. CCW is one source that talks about the Empire breaking up the Esselian Empire.

It seems to me that 1) is most likely correct. This article has good info in it and should probably be merged with the Darpa Sector article.JustinGann 06:46, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)

I had a thought--Ralltiir Sector was found on a Rebel datapad; its in-universe material. WHatever in-universe Rebel wrote the datapad may have just made a mistakeJustinGann 06:02, 8 Sep 2005 (UTC)

  • "Ralltiir Sector" was instantly recognised by the technicians who found the list, and recognised as important. Probably not an in-universe mistake. :/ Sundew 13:06, 8 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Excerpt, Scavenger Hunt, p.12[edit source]

INTERIOR: ELUSIVE CARGO HOLD. The camera slowly tracks along a row of data packs stacked neatly on a long table, eventually coming to rest upon an Imperial technician stacking more packs. Beside the technician is another, younger Imperial, who picks up one of the data packs and inserts it into a computer console.

The first technician turns to his companion and says, "The captain said to inventory the material, not examine it."

"Aren't you even the least bit curious?" returns his partner.

"I used to be. Spent two seasons in the spice mines for it. Besides, it's probably just a lot of useless trash, or else the Rebels never would have left it behind."

"Well if it's useless, then there's no harm in taking a little peek."

With that, the young tech punches codes into his console. Dull green light shines in his widened eyes as he reads the display. " '...Alliance operatives, Ralltiir Sector.' Useless trash, huh? Get the captain!"

    • Neat stuff. I was not questioning your validity. The simple fact is that different sources aren't always consistent with sector names (Kessel/Calaron Sector comes to mind). I think Ralltiir Sector should be merged with Darpa Sector though.JustinGann 10:28, 9 Sep 2005 (UTC)
      • Seems fair. Maybe someone should amalgamate pages, but keep separate Darpa/Ralltiir subsections. Note ambiguity, give a few theories. Wait for future evidence of definitive explanation. More evidence (or more problems) may still lurk in other rare, ancient WEG books. Sundew 12:59, 9 Sep 2005 (UTC)
        • Yes, do explain the continuity error in the article for [[Darpa Sector]. -- Riffsyphon1024 16:58, 9 Sep 2005 (UTC)
