**My antagonism is slightly justified by the unilateral changing of events Drew did in the last novel and his "continuity, shmontinuity, I'm an artiste, so don't criticise me" attitude he took to people pointing them out. That being said, you're right, there's not much he can contradict here. If he just starts off post-Bane of the Sith, he'll be right. QuentinGeorge 21:27, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

I just got back from Worldcon in Yokohama, and Del Rey had a small slide-show session on upcoming titles, including some Star Wars books such as Inferno and Fury. What supprised me was that there is apparently at least a prototype cover for Rule of Two. Sadly, I wasn't able to get a picture or anything, but I am wondering if there should be a note that a cover (though unlikely the final cover) has been revealed? ******And while we're talking about the orbalisks, the summary very strongly implies that the scene where he gets them will (re?)appear in Rule of Two (that whole thing about "led by Force-induced visions to a moon where he will acquire astonishing new knowledge and power -- power that will alter him in ways he could never have imagined". Should we mention that anywhere (like a BTS section or something, I don't know), or at least that it is probable that this will occur in this novel? Just wondering. dcd139 (207.172.86.112 15:33, 13 October 2007 (UTC))

*I'm just wondering if someone can please shoot whoever they have contracted to do the art on recent star wars novel covers. I swear when I saw a few of them for the first time I thought they were fan art concept covers used to fill in the blanks until the official ones were released. 1. 'Darovit had watched in horror as Rain was swept away by the blast, literally ripped from his arms...'. Rain is a she. And definately has her arms later in the story.
  +
2. 'Darovit made his stumbling way through the bodies that littered the battlefield...' yet in PoD it says 'There were only a handful of dead'.
  +
3. Johun is called John at the end of one of the chapters.
  +
4. 'he reached out with the Force and touched the drexl's mind, attempting to dominate the brute's will with his own. He had done this once before, to a rancor on the dying world of Lehon'. Last time I looked. Lehon definately is'nt a dying world.
  +
5. PoD: 'You are weak," Fohargh explained, casually twirling his own saber...'. The author does'nt know what explained means.
  +
6. PoD: 'It had been his third day here at the Academy.' But, 2 PAGES LATER it says 'In the past months, however, he had worked hard to learn his style and refine his technique...'.

*Rain was ripped from Darovit's arms. How would you think her arms were ripped off? I think Lehon is considered a dying world because its sentient species died away. If somebody was weak, you could explain to them they were weak.InSaneWeTrust 05:37, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
  +
As for number 1, it says that the blast tore Rain from Darovit's arms. It in no way says that Rain was male or that her arms were ripped off. It says that Darovit was holding her, then the blast ripped her out of his arms. Read it again. And I believe it can be safely deducted that number three was merely a typo. Mistakes happen, and sometimes they aren't noticed before publishing. For number 5, it depends on the context of the rest of the sentence and surrounding information. What if whoever he was talking to had just been beaten by him? He might thusly be answering an unspoken question as to why he was winning and the other was losing. Yes, I'm only providing conjecture at this point, but, the point is that it's possible for that to have made sense from a certain point of view. Lastly, for number six, it's possible that the author skipped certain amounts of time between pages. Sometimes they do that. I'm not saying they did, I don't have the book to go look for myself right now and the last time I read it was too long ago for me to accurately remember, I'm just saying it's possible. == Why is the novel so wrong? ==
  +
  +
* The answer? PoD was a crappy novel and Rule of Two is a crappy Novel.
  +
Drew Karpyshyn dosen't know what he's talking about half the time and just makes crap up out of thin air - like he did when he created all the new wars in KotoR.

I'm pretty sure the quote at the end of the Plot Summary section is incorrect. As I recall, Zannah did not say "Lord Bane" in the quote. Im pretty sure the correct version would be:

    • My antagonism is slightly justified by the unilateral changing of events Drew did in the last novel and his "continuity, shmontinuity, I'm an artiste, so don't criticise me" attitude he took to people pointing them out. That being said, you're right, there's not much he can contradict here. If he just starts off post-Bane of the Sith, he'll be right. QuentinGeorge 21:27, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
      • Yeah, I understand where you're coming from. But I blame Drew much less than I do Tasty/Sue/others who supervise such things. It's not Drew's job to be an expert on continuity--it's theirs, and someone had to give him the go-ahead to switch things around. I just really enjoyed Path of Destruction as a novel (one of my fave recent SW novels by far) and I know KOTOR was a mind-blowing story, so I want to give him the benefit of the doubt... - breathesgelatinTalk 21:38, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

I really enjoyed Jedi vs. Sith and, like Havac, was a bit upset that, despite the acknowledgement at the start, it seemed to be treated as cheap whore in relation to its established storyline, particularly in light of most of the characters, their dialogue and their characterisations (Kaan, Hoth, Bane, Githany) coming directly from the comic. QuentinGeorge 22:34, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
        • Looks like Voronica Whitney-Robinson just lost her position as "most pressured to write a Star Wars novel". Adamwankenobi 00:18, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
          • Rushed and with an author who has trod over continuity in the past. Yeah, I've got a bad feelin about this. Still, at least we might get a cover depiction of the adult Zannah. That'll be worth something. QuentinGeorge 11:12, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Rule of Two NOT the title

Per Sue Rostoni, here: [2]. I don't have time to change everything now b/c I need to sleep. But FYI. - breathesgelatinTalk 09:53, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

  • It's the working title. Don't change anything. Kaje 03:31, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
    • It's more the title than "Darth Bane sequel" was. The book has no title yet, so this is about as accurate a placeholder as possible. QuentinGeorge 03:47, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

It is the title. ithas been confirmed by sue rostoni.

  • It is the title, as I am currently holding the book in my hands. --ForceWound 23:11, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

Caleb

I was reading Darth Bane: PoD and certains lines have led me to believe that Caleb will be involved in Darth Bane: Rule of Two. Telos 04:52, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

I also think so because in Path of Destruction Bane says that hell need Caleb sometime in the future.

Cover

I just got back from Worldcon in Yokohama, and Del Rey had a small slide-show session on upcoming titles, including some Star Wars books such as Inferno and Legacy of the Force: Fury. What supprised me was that there is apparently at least a prototype cover for Rule of Two. Sadly, I wasn't able to get a picture or anything, but I am wondering if there should be a note that a cover (though unlikely the final cover) has been revealed? Din's Fire 997 04:23, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Why doesn't Bane have his body covered in orbalisks on the cover of Rule of Two? Telos 06:13, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

Because Drew Karpyshyn is writing his book off the prequel (Path of Destruction), not the other crappy stories invented (such as "Bane of the Sith" and all that jargon). Victor (talk) 06:21, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

Yet on the Orbalisk article, they first appear on Bane of the Sith. Hm. Victor (talk) 06:36, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

  • And if you'd actually read that page, you'd see that they were first mentioned in Secrets of the Sith. QuentinGeorge 09:54, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
  • Um, the picture shows him with the orbalisks. You can see them under his cloak. He's just not wearing the headpiece. Cull Tremayne 08:14, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
  • Oh, and orbalisks first "appeared" in that short story. Bane was mentioned as having Orbalisk armor before that story came out, in the Secrets of the Sith sourcebook. Bane of the Sith just showed how and where he got the orbalisks. Cull Tremayne 08:19, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
    • "Secrets of the Sith Sourcebook"? I'm not aware of any such book. If you're thinking of The Dark Side Sourcebook, that came out well after "Bane of the Sith" made its first appearance in Star Wars Gamer 3. jSarek 08:23, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
      • It's not a Sourcebook per say, but it is a book that came out before Bane of the Sith and had info about the Sith. It included an early picture of Bane with the orbalisk armor. It was sort of a precursor to the DSSB, but it contained no RPG stats. Cull Tremayne 08:37, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
      • This book. It came out before the Star Wars Gamer 3 issue (pretty sure anyway, since I have both), and has the picture of Bane in orbalisk armor. I think it's the same illustration that shows up in the NEGtC. Cull Tremayne 08:41, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
        • It's Secrets of the Sith, which for some reason doesn't have an article here. It's got a page on the OS though, and a cargo bay entry. QuentinGeorge 09:50, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
          • Very interesting; this book is new to me. Learn something new every day, it seems. ;-) As Ep.1 tie-in material (proudly boasting "Includes EXCLUSIVE NEW PHOTOS from Episode 1!), you're right in that it almost certainly predates Gamer 3. jSarek 09:52, 19 September 2007 (UTC) EDIT: The Link QG provided gives a release date of October 2000 for this book, which does indeed predate Gamer 3 by three months. jSarek 09:56, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
        • Here's Bane's pic from the book, btw: [3] QuentinGeorge 09:54, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
          • I didn't know you could remove the headpiece of the orbalisk armor. And the orbalisks aren't just in Secrets of the Sith. Bane is depicted with orbalisks in Star Wars Legacy: 5#, the NEGTC, and others. Telos 07:45, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
            • And while we're talking about the orbalisks, the summary very strongly implies that the scene where he gets them will (re?)appear in Rule of Two (that whole thing about "led by Force-induced visions to a moon where he will acquire astonishing new knowledge and power -- power that will alter him in ways he could never have imagined". Should we mention that anywhere (like a BTS section or something, I don't know), or at least that it is probable that this will occur in this novel? Just wondering. dcd139 (207.172.86.112 15:33, 13 October 2007 (UTC))
  • I'm just wondering if someone can please shoot whoever they have contracted to do the art on recent star wars novel covers. I swear when I saw a few of them for the first time I thought they were fan art concept covers used to fill in the blanks until the official ones were released. Imagine my surprise and horror when I realized they were official... I mean come on we could probably have an art contest on Wookieepedia that would shame this scruffy nerfherder art... *sigh* --Livingston (The Force will be with you. Always.) 14:40, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
  • As I stand here now, newly released book in hand, I verify that the albeit shitteh cover art of bane and zannah, is in fact the true and released cover for the book.--ForceWound 23:12, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
  • I'm new to Wookieepedia, but I'm an old SW lag, and seriously...this is the worst artwork I've EVER seen on a novel. It's just...wow. I don't have the words to describe how bad it is. I mean, Zannah's drawing is bad enough, but Bane...eesh, talk about horrible.DiScOrD tHe LuNaTiC 18:47, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
  • Zannah looks great. Bane's face is too pasty. The biggest problem is his saber hilt. It's not curved. It's Qui Gon's hilt.

Source for Githany and Kaan?

Is there a source for Githany and Kaan being mentioned or is this just speculation? Telos 07:33, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

  • Yea i dont think there is a source. but there defonitly gonna be mentioned i mean they were to very important people. and why hasnt there been more things added to the page with December 26 on its way?? Darth Revanon 7:23, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

Synopsis expansion

  • My apologies; I was going by the Path of Destruction page in constructing this(which was why I deleted the book jacket descrip) and I neglected to put in the spoiler box. Sorry bout that.DiScOrD tHe LuNaTiC 16:36, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

Wrong! Wrong! Wrong!

1. 'Darovit had watched in horror as Rain was swept away by the blast, literally ripped from his arms...'. Rain is a she. And definately has her arms later in the story. 2. 'Darovit made his stumbling way through the bodies that littered the battlefield...' yet in PoD it says 'There were only a handful of dead'. 3. Johun is called John at the end of one of the chapters. 4. 'he reached out with the Force and touched the drexl's mind, attempting to dominate the brute's will with his own. He had done this once before, to a rancor on the dying world of Lehon'. Last time I looked. Lehon definately is'nt a dying world. 5. PoD: 'You are weak," Fohargh explained, casually twirling his own saber...'. The author does'nt know what explained means. 6. PoD: 'It had been his third day here at the Academy.' But, 2 PAGES LATER it says 'In the past months, however, he had worked hard to learn his style and refine his technique...'. Darth Oompa Loompa 18:04, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

  • This is a question for the Knowledge Bank, not a talk page. Din's Fire 997 20:11, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
  • Rain was ripped from Darovit's arms. How would you think her arms were ripped off? I think Lehon is considered a dying world because its sentient species died away. If somebody was weak, you could explain to them they were weak.InSaneWeTrust 05:37, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

Why is the novel so wrong?

  • The answer? PoD was a crappy novel and Rule of Two is a crappy Novel.

Drew Karpyshyn dosen't know what he's talking about half the time and just makes crap up out of thin air - like he did when he created all the new wars in KotoR.

Well when you think about it, all Star Wars is made up. And that's called 'imagination'. Darth Oompa Loompa 19:32, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Nihilus indirect mention

  • Could someone remind me where Nihilus is indirectly mentioned? It's been a while since I read the book and I can't remember that part. Sith Alchemy 101 23:12, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

Quote

I'm pretty sure the quote at the end of the Plot Summary section is incorrect. As I recall, Zannah did not say "Lord Bane" in the quote. Im pretty sure the correct version would be:

"One day I will surpass you. And on that day, I will kill you. But that day is not today"
Darth Zannah[src]

However, I don't have the novel with me right now, and can't look it up, so I'm not going to change it yet. Could somebody else check this? Thanks. Jonjedigrandmaster 00:31, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
