Conflicting backstories[]

Personally, I don’t think that ‘Son of Dathomer’ should be considered part of Maul’s Legends backstory at all, since it came out in 2014, but that’s beside the point. I think if it is going to be included in the Legends timeline the best thing to do is state that he has two conflicting backstories and give them both. Otherwise all of the other stories featuring his Legends background might as well be declared non-canon, since they clash with this new-canon story that has now been declared Legends. And, at this point too much of the Legends background of Maul, and other characters, are tied up in the stories like ‘Darth Plagueis’ to simply ignore them.

  • Its status as Legends was explicitly mentioned by someone on the story group. See this Forum:SH:Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir applies to Legends too, and it details exactly what we need to do about the backstory that had been established beforehand Lewisr (talk) 14:58, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
    • No I don’t understand. Are we just going to ignore his previously established backstory because of this comic that’s considered part of the new-canon? Cruella1989 (talk) 16:34, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
      • Is it any different than what was done with Boba Fett for example? Iirc his backstory had been estbablished before Attack of the Clones came about. It will need to be mentioned in the behind the scenes section Lewisr (talk) 16:36, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
        • Boba’s backstory being established in a Movie is a bit different than a Comic, I’d say. And I think it’s ridiculous that we’re basically going to declare this long standing backstory non-canon. Cruella1989 (talk) 16:48, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
          • It doesn't matter what we may or may not think, we must follow what the Canon policy layouts, which in this case is that the info established before is to be treated as either non-canon or some kind of in-universe apocrypha Lewisr (talk) 16:56, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
            • So in other words stories like ‘Darth Plagueis’ will be considered non-canon?Cruella1989 (talk) 17:16, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
              • Only the information that conflicts with what Son of Dathomir established would be considered non-canon, the rest is fine Lewisr (talk) 18:25, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
                • Thank you for answering my question, I’ll be leaving now. Good luck trying to erase history, confuse the fans, and tell them exactly how you believe they should view each story. I want no part in this. I’m sick of ‘fans’ like you, who act like they have the authority to do gate keeping and tell everyone else what they have the right to view as canon. Good bye. Cruella1989 (talk) 13:30, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
                  • By the way, I thought that I should mention I did some research and SOD is not in a higher tier than any of the novels like Darth Plagueis. All comics and novels fall into the C tier, and it doesn’t matter if one is Clone Wars based.Cruella1989 (talk) 14:54, 22 June 2022 (UTC)

Duel on Kalakar VI[]

For the section of Maul's biography, Duel on Kalakar VI, why does it say, "It is unknown if it was the actual resurrected Maul that Vader had slain or an imposter created by Sith Magic"? The main article, in which a link is provided, does not list this discrepancy states that Maul was resurrected. The author's stated in an interview that this was the ACTUAL Darth Maul, not a clone, or an imposter, but the original Darth Maul resurrected via Sith Magic. It's even stated in the Wookieepedia article "Resurrection" that Darth Maul was resurrected. Zachary1969 (talk) 18:48, 18 May 2023 (UTC)
