Does anyone know what the deadline is for this? I can't find one on the site. CooperTFN 07:18, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

  • "Your submission must be received by Random House not later than 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on November 30, 2006." [1]

Sith Names[]

Can someone explain to me what all these names mean (like Sidious-insidious, Tyranus-tyrant)? Thanks. Chack Jadson 16:19, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

  • Check the dictionary:
Acheron: Classical Mythology. a river in Hades over which Charon ferried the souls of the dead or the infernal regions; hell; Hades
Judicar: Judicator: a person who acts as judge or sits in judgment.
Paxis: Pax: a period in history marked by the absence of major wars, usually imposed by a predominant nation or A time of wide-ranging stability when there is only a single dominant power. Think pax Romana.

Not sure about the others, though Caedus does have a phonetic link with "Hades", and could also be linked to "Caesar". "Taral" could be derived from "trial"? Whatever their sources, I have to say, they're all horrible names :| - \\Captain Kwenn// Ahoy! 16:26, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

  • Well, looks like our fears of a Legacy style naming convention were unfounded. -- SFH 19:57, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
    • Thanks Kwenn. I agree-they are terrible names. Chack Jadson 21:34, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
      • Caedus means killing or slaughter. No one knows what Taral means.Darth Solus 23:45, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
        • Caedus looks awful but it's pronouciation, "KYE-dus" sounds pretty cool imho. (Ulicus 23:50, 23 January 2007 (UTC))
  • Eh. I was thinking maybe Darth Ressor, as in "Aggressor/Oppressor," but oh well Enochf 00:00, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
    • With any luck, the Legacy writers will stop pretending to be creative and use the names that don't win for future Sith. (And yes, I am ticked off that they didn't choose my name:-()Darth Ceratis 02:24, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
      • You do realize there were thousands of submissions? They didn't choose mine either but that's life. I personally like the five contenders. -- Riffsyphon1024 02:43, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
        • There was a certain element of sarcasm in my comment.Darth Ceratis 05:35, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
  • I had suggested using Sicarius as a name. It's a Latin word, the plural form of Sicarii, or dagger man. Some scholars also thought that the name Judas Iscariot was a Hellenized version of Sicarius. Because in some ways I thought that Jacen was kind of taking the role of Judas, and that his Sith name should reflect that. I was kind of disappointed that Sicarius didn't make the cut, but oh well. Servo 00:27, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

I sent in Morda. It means fate

Wow, who cares if they didn't make the cut, Morda especially is a terrible name. I like the name Caedus, the others are just terrible.

Any chance a few of the other submissions could show up? I'd love to see some of the other thousands of submissions, then kick myself for not participating and coming up with something better. --SephyCloneNo15 08:18, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

Authors[]

Does anyone know the actual name of that guy, or the names of the other four authors? Kuralyov 02:55, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

I found some of the other authors on The Jedi council forums so I added them to the listDarth Solus 03:09, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

Meanings[]

The meanings that I posted were not fanon. They were posted on the Star Wars Darth Who voting page.Darth Solus 05:13, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

I looked everywhere and Caedus is not a word in English or Latin? I'm not going to do anything with it, but I just thought I'd bring it to attention.

I just looked up the word Caedus. it is a variation of the word Caedes. They have the same real world meaning so should I change it on the darth who page? link title

Yes you should change it because on the page it says that is what Caedus itself means.

New Name[]

Ive thought of a new sith name... Darth Golgotha. Golgotha means "skull in Hebrew and is the hill Christ was crucified on on. If you like it or not please say so.

I like it. I'm also a Christian though so its kind of I dont know how to explain.Revan Acolyte88 03:26, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Styx[]

  • I tend to disagree with Acheron's meaning in the article. Acheron was believed to be a branch of the river Styx, which was the mythological "River of Death" that Charon ferried the souls of the dead over.--Zakkoroen, currently the only admin of Marvel Fanon (also founder) 18:08, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

So what's to happen to the other 4?[]

It would be a bit of a shame to just leave the remaining 4 in the dirt. Is there any word that the remaining 4 could be used for future Sith? 202.69.180.204 15:39, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
