Devastator commander

In the Rogue One visual guide it says that Captain Shaef Corssin was the commander of the Devastator yet in A New Hope: The Princess, the Scoundrel, and the Farm Boy, a unidentified captain was in charge of the ship during the Secret mission to Tatooine. I wonder if these two people are supposed to be the same people. Unless Corssin got killed because Vader was pissed and had to take it out on somebody. • I don't think they're the same man, because the phrase "older man" is used to describe the captain in The Princess, the Scoundrel, and the Farm Boy, and that doesn't match Corrsin's appearance in Rogue One. --Lelal Mekha Old Republic military symbol (Audience Room) 16:38, December 29, 2016 (UTC)
    • Film novelizations are adaptations, not concrete canon. When in doubt, defer to a more direct source (in this case, Rogue One and the Visual Guide). - Brandon Rhea(talk) 17:24, December 29, 2016 (UTC)
      • But it's not a direct contradiction, though. Of course, I realize it's only because RO hadn't been written yet when The Princess, the Scoundrel, and the Farm Boy was released, but... it still doesn't mean that they can't be two separate characters. --Lelal Mekha Old Republic military symbol (Audience Room) 17:32, December 29, 2016 (UTC)
