Need they use wasp corpses?[]

An insect molts its exoskeleton several times throughout its life. A creature as big as a colossus wasp would undoubtedly litter its territory with molts. Why hunt these creatures or wait for them to die when their molts would just be floating around for the taking? --71.63.241.233 04:09, March 8, 2010 (UTC)JRHamm

presumably because a Molted exoskeleton is not only weaker (IRL they soften slightly before molting) but also has a big split down one side. would not be as good of armor, and wouldn't be automatically space-tight the way an intact corpse would be. still, there is also the possibility that they molt in locations that are difficult to reach safely. or perhaps like with some insects (and many reptiles that molt), they eat their molted shell to recover nutrients? --Mithril (talk) 09:12, July 23, 2017 (UTC)
