The Force AwakensEdit

I am pretty sure it is the first appearance of the Lightsaber unless there is going to be a tie in comic that is released before the movie. Skywalker2255 (talk) 20:47, December 3, 2014 (UTC)

  • The "unless" is the reason why we can't add it. There may very well be tie-ins. We simply don't have enough information at this point to say whether this is the new lightsaber's first appearance. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 20:54, December 3, 2014 (UTC)

Alright, I see your point. Skywalker2255 (talk) 20:55, December 3, 2014 (UTC)

  • Pre-film tie-ins are both a Disney and Star Wars tradition. I read the entire story of Maleficent about a month before the film came out. And Star Wars was a book ghostwritten by Alan Dean Foster before it was a film. I would not be surprised if the movie is released in novel form before they put it in the theaters. New name Edit

is this still counting as the Canon version of the Crossguard Lightsaber? 02:43, January 8, 2015 (UTC)

  • I kept the connection between the Canon and Legends pages, yeah. They're not 100% equivalent, but people searching for the lightsaber are going to end up landing on the Legends page, and there should be a connection to the Canon page. The tabs are useful for reader navigation/discovery, which is critical considering the page views for Crossguard lightsaber were HUGE after the trailer was released. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 02:47, January 8, 2015 (UTC)

why on fire Edit

has anything been written yet about why the blade looks more "fire" blade then normal Light Sabers? Chasemarc (talk) 08:19, October 24, 2015 (UTC)

  • One of the action figures says something about it being a ragged design. That is all. Since he is not a Sith it wouldn't be like a normal lightsaber. Skywalker2255 (talk) 08:22, October 24, 2015 (UTC)

In real world Edit

Might be worth mentioning, that blatant practicality of these weapons has made it the subject of numerous jokes on the Internet.

Fonzeppelin (talk) 17:39, December 15, 2015 (UTC)

Are those jokes you mentioned regarding how easy it would be for an opponent wielding a lightsabre to cut off the vent projectors on the side since they protrude too far from the hilt for the angle and distance of where the two plasma blades are emitted from, to catch an opponent's lightsabre's plasma blade? Freighttrain, The (talk) 07:36, January 24, 2020 (UTC)

Destroyed? Edit

So, the novelization says that he was disarmed—the weapon is still intact. I've only seen the film once, but I'm pretty sure she just knocked it out of his hand. Are we certainly it was destroyed? {{SUBST:User:Ten Tailed Fox/sig}} 08:09, December 23, 2015 (UTC)

  • I have not yet read the novelization, but the film seemed to indicate it was destroyed. Pablo Hidalgo recently Tweeted that there are some minor differences between the two sources, and that the "big picture" is the intended story. However, if the novel is abundantly clear while the film isn't, we should go with the former. Cwedin(talk) 08:16, December 23, 2015 (UTC)
    • Watching the blu-ray, it was only knocked out of his hand. Her saber contacts the blade, nowhere near the hilt. After this she immediately brings it up to strike him. I'd post a screenshot but I can't. Vympel (talk) 05:42, April 2, 2016 (UTC)
      • I just watched it frame-by-frame, and you're right, it's definitely not destroyed. -- Dr. Porter Resistance starbird (Talk|Contribs) 07:54, April 2, 2016 (UTC)
        • The Force Awakens: Rey's Story describes the blade of Skywalker's lightsaber to "connect with Kylo's hilt," but the film definitely overrules this. Looks like we've got an answer! Cwedin(talk) 08:03, April 2, 2016 (UTC)

Crossguard lightsaber Edit

So before it was said the reason this article is linked to Crossguard lightsaber was to make it easier to find when that was all people knew to call it. However, with Kylo Ren being much more well known now, and approximately six times the earth's population have seen the movie, I feel this reasoning no longer holds up. They may have similar designs but this was not based on the Legends model and therefore is not a canon counterpart. I therefore propose removing the Legends link from the article. • No one objected in a week so I did it. Overlordjeff (talk) 17:11, January 11, 2016 (UTC)

Major spoilers, please fix. Edit

I'm not adept at editing wiki articles, so I don't want to mess one up. But could someone please edit the article to have a spoiler tag at the top, or at least edit the first paragraph? It's obvious trolling that one of the most pivitol points of the plot is referenced in the first paragraph; let-alone the entire article. Thank you. Unsigned comment by Tenshiiryu (talk • contribs).

  • What exactly is this spoiler you are talking about? --Lewisr (talk) 04:37, November 17, 2017 (UTC)

Infobox Image Edit

Hey everyone, I was just curious if anybody else would support the changing of the infobox image. I think that this image (seen on the right),
Kylo Ren's lightsaber prop
would be a better option. The one currently in use is a replica of the actual prop instead of being an image of the actual prop while this one is an image of the actual prop used in the film. Other than that, it also better reflects Kylo Ren's lightsaber as it shows the exposed red wire that is a huge defining factor of his lightsaber and its design's importance. I think that a lot of people would agree that when available an image of the actual prop would be favorable compared to an image of a replica that could have some inconsistencies. Also, this image is presented on a white background and therefore is easier to see and presents itself as an infobox image much better than one with as dark of background as the one currently in use. Does anyone object to this change?--Benjay2345 (talk) 03:29, January 13, 2018 (UTC)

Merging Ben and Kylo Ren's lightsabersEdit

I've been looking at the pictures of both Ben and Kylo Ren's lightsaber and i think it's possible they are both one in the same especially after we saw in the flashback that ben brought down his hut on top of both luke and himself. so it could be possible that Ben's lightsaber was damage and so he turned it into a crossguard. So should we merge the two together?Jkirk8907 (talk) 17:40, May 27, 2018 (UTC)

  • No, just because they could be the same that doesn't mean we should merge them. Until a source says they are the same then we shouldn't merge them --Lewisr (talk) 17:43, May 27, 2018 (UTC)
