DisambiguationEdit

Before everybody starts linking to this, shouldn't we make it a disambiguation page and move the book to Sacrifice (novel)? -- Ozzel 01:32, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

  • I did a search and there wasn't any other article named Sacrifice, so I don't see why that'd be necessary. Kuralyov 01:36, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
    • Well, I see your point. But the thing is, when someone types Sacrifice and hits GO, they'll get this. Personally, I think it should go to a disambiguation page, but that's just me. As with Legacy of the Force: Betrayal, there are at least 2 other stories with the same title. I made a disambiguation page for that, but it's not really linked to by anything. To change all the links for that now would be quite an undertaking. So I'm just saying that if we're gonna change this, we should do it now. But if not, that's fine too. I'm gonna go ahead and throw together a disambiguation anyway. -- Ozzel 02:03, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
  • I admit I've been tempted to write an article on human sacrifice, and it's role among the Massassi and the Yuuzhan Vong, and it would be a fairly reasonable name for some Star Destroyer of some sort. -- SFH 03:43, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

New Darth name... Edit

What do you lot think it should be? Personally I'm hoping for "Darth Dickhead"...for some rather obvious reasons (stupid, gormless git believing Lumiya's lies! what a fecking LOSER!).--Goodwood 01:41, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

CoverEdit

Does anyone know when they are going to reveal the cover for Sacrifice? Darth Solus 00:00, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

  • Is it me, or does Mara now look like Mariska Hargitay?RushinSundaws 19:35, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
    • Now that you mention it, yes, incredibly so. It's those eyebrows. Wildyoda 03:05, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
    • personally it looks more like Famke Janssen, which is pretty funny considering her name is Mara Jade and she's supposed to have GREEN eyes!...anyways they'd better not kill off Luke yet, i could live without Mara. for further proof see my photo-novel. Darth Depressis

Are we sure it's even Mara on the cover? I personally thought it was Jaina until I read the article. Is there word on who it really might be? Mara's only one year younger than Luke and has been through alot lately; I don't think she would be looking so "youthful".--Master Dakari 05:41, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

  • Never mind. I just clicked on the source (didn't notice it before) and read what the cover artist wrote. I still think it would have made a great Jaina though.--Master Dakari 05:49, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

Yea, but no one really cares about jaina anymore though. .--Darth Revanon 6:53, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

Couldnt for real be Jaina?Mathieu121

No i personally dont think so. it would be good if it was tenel Ka and Allana or at least one of them, cuz he doesnt love his parents, he dont love Jaina, he lovevs Tenel Ka and Allana. so thats who the sacrifice should be. .--Darth Revanon 5:26, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Well, as far as I know, it is never mentioned that Jaina has red hair, while it is a distinguishing characteristic of Mara. However, it shows her with a blue lightsaber, and by the look of the hilt, it appears to be Luke's original lightsaber, the one that he lost at bespin and later retrieved from Wayland during. . . the emperor reborn crisis?(don't quote me on that.) Luke gave the lightsaber to Mara, and she used it until she built her own violet colored one. So the cover picture could be just a younger picture of Mara.--24.6.105.116 18:58, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

Why does it say Luke's on the back cover, I've got the paperback version and no Luke!

Character list?Edit

Where is this coming from? I understand Mara, Luke, and Jacen, but how do we know for SURE that Zekk will be in it? I mean, I'm sure he will be but aren't we jumping the gun a tad on many of these LOTF character lists (eg adding characters before they are revealed in an excerpt, DP, cover, blurb, or the like?) Is there some source for this that isn't listed in the article? - breathesgelatinTalk 22:01, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

I agree, how the hell do we know if Zekk will be in it? User:Zinnos

about time they kill luke off...

Okay, WTK Is Threepio and Artoo on the list? Polziper 20:25, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

  • Just so you know, the reason Zekk is listed is because he's going to become Jaina's boyfriend, so he'll be in Sacrifice. Enough proof for you? Besides, he's been in all the others, why stop now? TheNewDarthMalevlent(The Sith shall rise to power!) 15:46, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

Why is Jagged Fel on the list? Just because he will probably be on the list doens't mean he has been slated to appear. User:Zinnos

  • Come on, people, get real! These people *3PO, R2, Zekk, Jag* are in here because they are apart of Star Wars. There's nothing that's going to change that. None of you have a voice in what Karen, Troy, and Aaron write, so deal with it. TheNewDarthMalevlent(The Sith shall rise to power!) 13:43, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
    • I don't see anyone being angry over particular characters being included in novels or whining about books. Remember that wookieepedia contains only CANON information. There's always the possibility that C-3PO, Jag, and others might not appear in a particular book, so you can't just assume they will be and add them to list. For example, Jag was not in the first three LOTF novels. No one needs to "get real," unless by that you mean putting real, verified, non-speculative info in the article. - breathesgelatinTalk 21:07, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
      • Rock on gelatin! When did speculation become canon and limited knowledge of a subjuct due to limited info release become complaining?!Darth Trayus(Trayus Academy) Sith Emblem 18:24, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

has anyone seen wat has happened 2 the characters list??

Do You Think Jacen Will Kill Han, Leia, Both, Or Neither Edit

I think he will kill one. Probably Leia. But I would really like to see none of them die.

  • Wookieepedia is not a forum. If you want to discuss things like this, go to the Jedi Council Forums or someplace like that. Kaje 22:40, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

yea shes right. I hope that its neither of them either, i think that Jacen will Sacrifice Tenel Ka and Alanna. Unsigned comment by 67.34.223.58 (talk • contribs).

    • Well, I'm honestly hoping the "surprise twist" as I've heard, is he kills a person important to him. I think Jaina's that person. Does anyone else feel like Jaina's just prime rib in his wolf eyes? TheNewDarthMalevlent(The Sith shall rise to power!) 03:21, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
  • Again, PLEASE take this somewhere else. The purpose of a wookieepedia talk page is for discussion about the ARTICLE, not its SUBJECT. Wildyoda 03:35, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

yea the person above me is right. and he hates jaina now so probably not.

    • It's Mara Jade!!!!!!!! *****Cryy****** Bly1993

Hey does Mara really die or did a vandal do that to the Jacen Solo article69.221.234.21 01:55, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

its neither Han Or Leia, Its gonna Be Mara, it aid so in the spoiler. oh thats quite horrible, but every author has a reason for killing there characters, so this time it better be a darn good one!!!

60Edit

Is the reference to Luke looking approximately 60 needed? For one thing, he doesn't look sixty there, since that's an image taken from his training on Dagobah in Episode V, so technically, he only looks twenty-two there - \\Captain Kwenn// Ahoy! 20:48, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

He does look 60 so dont worry about it.Unsigned comment by 67.34.223.58 (talk • contribs).

  • He's actually 59, but doesn't look like it there. -Fnlayson 00:43, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

well theres little difference between 60 and 59. and its a hologram and does it really matter how they look?? just be hapy that the book is coming out in 23 days duh!! Unsigned comment by 67.34.223.58 (talk • contribs).

  • How do we know that is a hologram? If it isn't ill be removing that.--Darth Trayus(Trayus Academy) Sith Emblem19:16, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
    • What difference does it make if it is the hologram or not? It's still the back cover of the book. -Fnlayson 02:47, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

The Person above me is correct it doesnt matter. and Mara looks pretty good on the Cover to, Maybe she just uses the Force 2 make her look Younger.

      • Well, that's what started this, isn't it? Mara's never been described with wrinkles or facial marks, so we can assume she looks good. Of course, the image is extremly exaggerated, as she looks a bit too much like my mom, who's half Mara's age. TheNewDarthMalevlent(The Sith shall rise to power!) 03:23, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

yea the person above me is right, they always describe luke, but not mara. but y did they put mara on the cover. isnt jacen gonna Sacrifice his parents?

  • I'm not saying that the hologram matters all to much, I just want to make sure we are as accurate as can be. Why say its a hologram if it could just be a faded image of Luke like other covers have?--Darth Trayus(Trayus Academy) Sith Emblem22:56, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

duh of course its a hologram.

  • Let's just drop this. Chack Jadson 00:07, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

good idea. Unsigned comment by Darth Revanon (talk • contribs).

Release dateEdit

  • Is it released on May 29? I saw it in my bookstore yesterday :S - The Danish Jedi 19:03, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

well arent u smart. its coming out May 29th, 2007. so u obviously saw somthing else.

  • Actually, it may have come out earlier becuase I preordered it from Books a Million and they said they had it, and it was definetly Sacrifice because I gave them all the info on the book (i.e., title, author, cover picture, series, genre). Did they announce anything? Or was it a mistake? Darthchristian (Hey!) 17:22, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

DetailsEdit

So I've been looking at a few pages and I despretly want to know how we already know specific details from the book when there is still a week before it's realesed ie. the name of Mirta's father etc. 199.235.123.237 15:26, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

well guess we have 2 wait until The 29th.

Mara Jade innaccurate? Edit

Honestly I dont think so. Shes 58...and while that may seem a bit old, Mara Jade is a Jedi, and that would preserve her youth a bit. Besides, she could just have good genes, my grandfather looks 45, and hes 70!--User:JohnSpartan117 00:01, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

does it really matter how she looks, i mean really, it doesnt matter. and the person above me, its the 23rd not the 24th. Unsigned comment by Darth Revanon (talk • contribs).

  • The time on Wookieepedia is based on UTC, where it is currently 1:35am in the morning of May 24th. -- I need a name (Complain here) 01:36, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

well in the real world its 9:40, May 23rd 2007.

Since you like being a smart aleck, I recommend that you read this. --FireV 23:57, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

Wow, I really have no control over the timestamp...--User:JohnSpartan117 04:25, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

I agree generally with the original post. Several novels indicate that in the Star Wars galaxy humans age more slowly in general, although their lifespans appear to be similar. It's safe to say their medical science is beyond ours, thus the the effect of aging could be mitigated to some degree. Also, Mara Jade spent her entire life in peak physical condition, and this will definitely affect her vitality as she pushes 60. Finally, it appears as though the Force itself can contribute to slowing the aging process. With these three factors combined, Mara appearing as though she were a fit 35 year old becomes pretty consistent. Mad Jax 15:35, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Maybe her apparently youthful appearance is symbolic for her return to her youth life: revenge, hunting down people, etc. She gives Jacen a good fight for a 50+ year old. Izquierdista 01:01, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

Republica BuildingEdit

I apologize that Im being lazy but does omeone want to do either an article or talk about it a 5oo Republica. Its where Omas; apartment is. Thanks. Purpilia 21:46, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

Spoilers?Edit

Where are the spoilers in the current article? There's no plot summary outside of the publisher's description from the dust jacket, is there? Obviously there's a spoiler here on the talk page, but other than that, I can't find one. 164.107.124.224 15:32, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

  • Odd, I was wondering the same thing. Since it's been nearly three weeks since you asked without reply, I'm just going to shift the spoiler warning from the article to the talkpage. Cortle Steeze 22:53, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
  • It's in the summary above the contents. It mentions Mara and Lumiya dying, and the publisher description below it doesn't. Reccommend putting that spoiler warning back up as the lack thereof just ruined the book for me. --Njblackwolf 04:55, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
    • The spoiler warnings have been removed, as it has been over a month since the release of the product, per policy. π = 3 Sith Emblem (Talk to me, babe.) 05:01, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
      • Just for posterity, I'd like it noted that the sentence Njblackwolf mentions was added after I took down the spoiler tag, so it wasn't taken down in error. Cortle Steeze 08:12, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
        • I think its been long enough. The fury has lessened by now. -- Riffsyphon1024 08:17, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

Release in UK Edit

Is this out in the UK yet?--The All-knowing Sith'ari 21:45, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Paperback Edit

I know it's out in hardcover, but does anyone know when it'll be released in paperback? I haven't read it yet, because I've been waiting for it to come out in paperback.--Hobbie 03:34, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

  • It could be anywhere from 6 months to a year from now. I'm not sure how libraries operate outside the US, but if you're in the US, I'd recommend checking it out from the library, read it, so you're up to date, and then buy it later (if you're a book collector like me) in paperback. - JMAS 03:40, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
    • OKay, thanks. I guess I'll take your advice.--Hobbie 02:47, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
      • Any information on WHY the paperback version of this is so slow in coming? I already have paperback copies of Exile and Fury sitting here, but I have to wait another half a year for the book before them...
        • Exile is before Sacrifice... Liberi Fatali37 01:30, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
          • Besides, it's usually around a year between a hardcover and paperback re-release. Exile and Fury didn't have mass-market hardcover releases like Sacrifice, they were straight to paper. Din's Fire 997 00:52, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
            • Yes, but they can be ordered specially in hardcover. It has been nearly a year since Sacrifice was first published, and there is probably a paperback edition out. I will check by Barnes and Noble whenever I can to see if it is true. Liberi Fatali37 09:27, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

ReactionEdit

Shouldn't this have some sort of a controversy section or a section on how it was received? I mean, many other books and comic books on this site do (Dark Empire, Heir to the Empire, etc.) why shouldn't this one? It's not like the reaction wasn't great enough to be of note, especially with the splash made by killing off Mara... 84.84.207.58 21:35, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

  • Look's like nobody's gotten round to it, or that they don't know what to say. If you can source the pertinent information and add it, then that would be most welcome. Harrar 21:52, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
    • Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if it's already been added a couple times, but removed by others (most likely by an admin). Anyway, i know TZ and the model who portrayed Mara have both voiced their disapproval of KT's decision to kill of Mara (TZ especially, since he wasn't even informed, much less asked permission of). It may also be noted that several people don't like/question the cover, since many people think Mara looks a lot younger than she's supposed to be on the cover (but I think that issue has been covered already, but should be taken care of if it hasn't).84.212.88.75 18:37, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Controversy Section NeededEdit

I agree a controversy section is in order. This novel has enraged many SW fans and has led to petitions and calls for boycotts of SW products.

I suspect there is even deeper issues to deal with and I suspect there is some fear involved bringing it up. It has been suggested by some Mara was killed off by George Lucas Himself out of jealousy. She was the most popular Expanded Universe character after all and beloved by many fans. This is why it was also suggested Tim Zahn was not involved in the murder. FVBonura

Sorry, but no thanks. The only controversial thing about the book was Mara's death, and her page already covers that (I didn't like the fact that she was killed off, but it's honestly not worth making petitions for). Everything else is basically people whining about what they don't like, as usual. Firebird Moltresheadsig certifiably crazy 03:11, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

Battlefront II reference Edit

I remember reading this and at one point the clone Boba Fett looks for (can't remember his name)says to Boba Fett something like "you were ok to help the Empire kill your fellow clones (or something along the lines of.). Theres a level in Battlefront 2 where the kaminoians try to raise their own army of clones and fight the Empire with them, but the 501st come to kamino and attack them, and Boba Fett asists them at one point. Am i correct?

Moving the page Edit

Hi, with the new TCW TV episode called "Sacrifice," could someone please move this to "Sacrifice" (novel)? I can't find the move button for the page. Thanks!--ID-21 Dolphin DolphinJedi(Talk) 18:37, March 7, 2014 (UTC)

There's no critical need for it, especially considering that this article has over 900 links to it that would all have to be updated before the episode could be moved here. The youmay template at the top of this article is sufficient. —MJ— Training Room 19:40, March 7, 2014 (UTC)
