What is this about Kavar using a shoto? He used a pair of blue standard ones.DarthMRN 02:01, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Actually he didnt one of his sabers had a short blade.-Darth Morder 23 december

No he used short lightsabers. Short lightsabers are lightsabers with short hilts not blades. This article should be revised since short lightsabers are not the same as shoto or lightdaggers. As said, short lightsabers are lightsabers with short hilts that allow better 2-weapon fighting while shoto and lightdaggers are lightsabers with short blades. 04:36, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Well, actually, I don't have any sources to move what I said above, but it's just an idea that my friends gave me. Since shotos are lightsabers with very, very short blades... that's why they're known as lightdaggers. However, the short lightsabers from KotOR and KotOR II evidently do not have as short blades as regular shotos and have a shorter hilt than the other regular lightsabers in the game. So it was just a speculation but I think it's more likely than short lightsabers and shotos being the same thing. 04:54, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

  • Also, if you look at the picture of Kavar, his short lightsaber was cut off from view. If you had an image of Kavar with both his lightsabers showing completely, then you can see that the short lightsaber is basically the same length as the standard one. 04:56, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

Yuthara Ban? Edit

is there any information on this character?

  • Yes, under Yuthura Ban. On a related note. Where is the info that she fought with a red shoto from? Can someone please confirm this? It was added by an anon, so I'm suspicious. That info is also nowhere to be found on her page, so forgive me for being doubtful. Cull Tremayne 22:46, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

It is true if you fight yuthara instead of uthar she uses a short red lightsaber.-Darth Morder

Betrayal? Edit

I just read Betrayal and I don't remember any appearance by a shoto. NaruHina Talk Anakinsolo 00:25, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

Maris Brood Edit

I don't think that she belongs on this page- She uses Guard Shoto, not true shoto, and Guard shoto have their own page. Can we consider removing this image, or moving it to the Guard shoto page? Nikose 16:50, 27 December 2008 (UTC) 16:49, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

How long is a shoto hilt? Edit

I can't seem to find it in the article, does anyone know? Is it as long as a standard lightsaber hilt? Thanks to anyone who answers.David Eltz 23:15, May 19, 2010 (UTC)Davemon115

Hmmm... I believe it varies, although every picture I've seen gives every indication that they are the same length.Senatorial Aide Van Ishkoh 18:08, July 1, 2010 (UTC)

This, "Size Typically 10-15 centimeters[1]" has to be the length of the hilt. Someone put what must be the hilt length as if it's the length of the entire weapon, or the blade. Shoto are obviously much longer in their blades than that tiny size. (I've never heard of, read of, or seen a lightsaber less than 6" long, have you?) But, that size is a likely match for the hilts. The person who filled out that bit of side description described the hilts, instead of the entire weapon. Someone should fix it to clarify that information is specifically about hilts. And, if possible, someone should find out the lengths of the blades, which are clearly all longer than 6". The other possibility is that it is supposed to say 10-15 inches instead of centimeters. However, short swords go well beyond 15 inches, probably especially in lightsabers, as non-shoto lightsabers are huge.

Yoda's lightsaber Edit

Is Yoda's lightsaber ever referred to as a lightsaber shoto? Regarding the main image, I think one that demonstrates the length of a shoto in comparison with a standard lightsaber would be more appropriate. The Namman Cha one is a possibility, or the Sora Bulq one.--The BoyUnsigned comment by The Boy Who Cried Direwolf (talk • contribs).

  • 1) Please do not assume and replace an image without looking at sources. You jumped the gun by assuming that Yoda's lightsaber isn't a shoto, which is incorrect. 2) If you want to change an infobox image, then please start a talk page vote. Undoing and starting edit warring isn't going to help. Thank you for your cooperation, JangFett (Talk) 13:53, November 24, 2013 (UTC)
    • That's fair enough. I enquired after the source but received no reply, hence the confusion.--The Boy14:04, November 24, 2013 (UTC)
      • Yes, no problem. Btw the source is Jedi Path. As for "comparing the length of the lightsabers," there should be an image in the article itself. JangFett (Talk) 14:08, November 24, 2013 (UTC)
        • Would an image of just a shoto hilt be preferable for the infobox? That appears to be the case in most lightsaber-based articles, anyway.--The Boy14:46, November 24, 2013 (UTC)
