A user on Wikipedia:Talk:Rogue Squadron claims Doran Kruton was in Star Wars: Battlefront. I don't have that game, so I have no idea myself, but that's where Wedgeroks! got the information. Anyone care to back this up or shoot it down? —Silly Dan (talk) 03:47, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

  • My copy of Battlefront has no named characters or even a campaign that I can remember. It's probably a player's custom name.

--AdmiralWesJanson 01:55, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

In BF multiplayer, the bots get designations. CIS droids get numbers, clones get Greek letters and numbers, stormies get letters and numbers, and Rebels get made-up names. "Doran Kruton" is one of those names. It's not fanon, but it's not canon either. I'd delete. -- Havac

  • Based on my understanding of game mechanics and canon, the most we can say about Kruton is that he existed some time during the period Battlefront takes place in. We cannot place randomly generated names into specific battles. Especially in a game like Battlefront, where characters are killed multiple times. --AdmiralWesJanson 05:42, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
    • So do we delete, or rewrite this as follows? —Silly Dan (talk) 15:23, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

Rewrite[]

Doran Kruton was a Rebel pilot who fought during several significant battles of the Galactic Civil War.

Behind the scenes[]

Doran Kruton is one of the randomly generated names in Star Wars:Battlefront, and as such will appear as a pilot in several battles. What the character does in each battle will vary from player to player.

Appearances[]

  • Actually, I'd just delete. Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure it's "Doran Krotan" in the game. Either way, it's not a randomly generated name -- it will appear on every level in both Battlefront and Battlesfront II, fighting in every battle (space and ground). Considering that not only did the Rebels canonically lose every BFII battle, making Doran's survival (and by extension, the survival of every single other bot name, all of which remain constant) of all of them questionable, but his presence at each and every one doesn't even make sense in terms of space and time. -- Havac
    • Maybe we should make this a redirect to a list of those Battlefront names? —Silly Dan (talk) 20:20, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
      • Maybe, but what should you name it? I thought articles needed IU names. Charlii 21:09, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
        • Not if its an entirely OOU article, as List of computer controlled characters in (game)" or something like that would be. —Silly Dan (talk) 21:18, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
          • Realistically, what useful purpose would such a list serve?
            • It would keep people from trying to write separate articles on each name as though it represented a real character who we actually knew something about. That's about it, really. —Silly Dan (talk) 01:28, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
              • I think this is the best idea. jSarek 01:29, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
                • I agree that the best solution is probably a list of Battlefront and Battlefront II names. I would even guess that randomly generated name shows up for more than just pilots. Why not redirects from any of these BF names to that list. That way, we have a record of those characters, but they're not mixing in with the "real" characters and confusing things.--JMM 13:11, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
  • Incidentally, I've replayed a level and can confirm that it is indeed spelled "Krotan". -- Havac

Missing Imperials[]

This article is missing the Imperial section. Like SF O21, TF 997, KL 987, JM 221, WI 800, etc. I might add it later, but I don't really have the time. Can someone make sure that it gets on there? Cyfiero II 01:42, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Custom names?[]

Does anyone know how to edit the file to make your own names in-game? Is this even possible? Chris6d (talk) 03:43, August 23, 2019 (UTC)

Guess no one knows. 🤷‍♂️ Chris6d (talk) 18:12, January 12, 2020 (UTC)

Canon[]

Would we be able to consider the names of these units as Canon or Legends? --Mr Star Wars Amino Republic (talk) 18:20, April 19, 2020 (UTC)

  • Neither, I would say. They're part of a game, not an actual story. --Jeydar 11:51, June 10, 2020 (UTC+3)
    • sorry to bring this back up, but it is my understanding that non-playable characters are not controlled by players and therefore are not game mechanics. i had a discussion about this with leland chee on twitter a few years ago when asking about maul in the phantom menace video game. maul's character was nonplayable and was considered canon in the old hierarchy. he said what amounts to there being a difference between playable and nonplayable characters. to me, this is similar to books where a reader can choose different endings, such as "decide your destiny". there are several clones in a dyd short story "the lost legion", and they are not all in a single instance of the 25 possible story lines, yet all the clones in it have their own pages, even though the canonicity of the series was in question. if anyone reads this, i'd be interested in your thoughts. 22:27, 13 March 2023 (UTC)
        • I'd be inclined to agree with you. BF II is canonical and is used as a source to reference from. I think therefore that it's more weird that this article presumes that the npc names wouldn't be canon. Why would they not be canon and yet the rest of the game is? Squadrons?[]

Would it he worth creating a Page similar to this one but for the names in the Squadrons Game? (143.137.94.95 01:35, 8 May 2023 (UTC))
