Death StarEdit

How did Obi's lightsaber survive the destrcution of the Death Star if it was blown up? Even lightsabers can not withstand that blastNarnian 02:24, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

the article states "Kenobi's lightsaber lay in Lord Vader's quarters during the Battle of Yavin. This fragment of the Death Star was eventually acquired by Ugors and transported to the Paradise Sector." where did you read that vader had it on him? -- Jedi Master Ralph 16:59, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

Why Can't I edit??????????????? Edit

  • Okay...I am serverly flipped off right now. I have seen and remember so much of the new clone wars movie, and have so much I could add..........BUT I CAN'T FLIPPING EDIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!74.186.151.239 22:02, 8 September 2008 (UTC).

This article is not up to date, it doesn't even cover the beginning of season 5. It should mention the whole thing with Darth Maul on Florrum, trying to help Ashoka and the younglings, and going to Mandalore and Satine dying. (I thought that was absolutly tragic, tried really hard not to cry.....) --71.240.181.195 03:30, February 5, 2013 (UTC)#1Obi-WanKenobiFan

It should also be expanding upon the relationship between him and Satine. We're up to "The Sabotage" episode and the subheading on Obi-Wan and Satine's relationship is still as it was 3 years ago.

why doesn't he remember? Edit

In episode IV, Obi says he doesnt remember owning any droids. how could he not remember R2 and C3PO when he served with them for years, i dont buy he doesnt remember because of old age?

Yeah, and also they were not even his at all in his life, they were Anakins. *gasp* then who is their rightful owner? And also, I think this is for the article not to "discuss the character."--Tahlismyhero 22:46, 12 November 2008 (UTC)tahlismyhero

Force Power Edit

I have noticed some of Kenobi's most powerful force talents are missing. We should add Force repulse, as well as the ability to deflect projectiles, flame and blaster bolts using only his hands. All of these talents were exhibited in the battle for Muuninlist, during Kenobi's face off against Durge.

Okay, I'm putting this under Force Power as not to spam up the discussion board. I was wondering if anyone would disagree to me cleaning up Obi-Wan's Powers and Abilities section by putting it in a list style, like Luke's or many of the other Jedi on Wookiepedia. I think it would make the section much easier to understand and navigate. If anyone disagrees to this let me know and I'll let it go. I don't want to start an edit war. Otherwise, I'll go ahead and get started within a couple days. Thanks guys.

  • Actually, we prefer organized paragraphs over lists, if you look at our FAs. Atarumaster88 Jedi Order (Talk page) 02:33, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
  • That's completely fine. I was just wondering. But then why do most of the other Jedi pages have their abilities in list format? -X ManofSteel X
    • Well, that's I suppose our fault for not having them all up to snuff as they should be. That said, if you look at our FAs, the ones that count are in prose. For example, Mara Jade Skywalker is probably one of our best (and longest) Jedi FAs. Atarumaster88 Jedi Order (Talk page) 18:14, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi guys. I saw recently in the Force Absorption page that it says Obi-Wan absorbed Force Lightning with his bare hands sometime in his life. Does anyone know if that's true and when it happened? Because if it is I'd like to add this feat under his Powers and Abilities section. Absorbing lightning is a pretty awesome accomplishment. Thanks guys. -Heart of theForce

  • According to the notes and references, Obi-Wan used Force absorption in the RotS video game. Since no other source contradicts this, it is considered C-canon. I see no reason why it shouldn't be added. Axinal Convocation Chamber 17:16, May 19, 2010 (UTC)
  • Hmm, can't edit due to the page being protected. Anyway to get around that? Or do I have to go through someone with higher authority? -HeartoftheForce
    • I'm not sure. I thought anyone with an account could edit a semi-protected page, but you might have to have a certain number of edits. I can probably get around to adding it at some point. Also, remember to use four tildes (~~~~) to sign your posts. Cheers! Axinal Convocation Chamber 19:11, May 20, 2010 (UTC)
    • Hey man, I appreciate it. I could write it up and post it here and then you could post it if that's cool. Just let me know. Thanks brother. Oh and I'm still not quite sure how the post signing works exactly...sorry about that. -Heart of the Force
      • Happy to help. As I don't have the RotS video game, I wasn't able to be very specific, but I did mention that he could use Force absorption, and referenced it accordingly. If you see anything else you think should be added, let me know. No problem with the signing thing; just write out four of these guys: ~. This will automatically create a link to your user page, as well as the time and date of your post. Axinal Convocation Chamber 23:39, May 20, 2010 (UTC)
        • Thanks brother! I rewrote up Obi-Wan's power and abilities section, adding what I thought was missing. I posted it on your talk page I hope you don't mind. You can delete it whenever you want to and change whatever you see fit. Obi-Wan's a huge hitter in the Star Wars franchise so I thought his abilities should be even more elaborated on. Thanks again man. You're a big help with this. Heart of the Force 00:50, May 21, 2010 (UTC)
          • No problem, glad I could help. The powers and abilities section looks great. Axinal Convocation Chamber 01:01, May 21, 2010 (UTC)
            • Yes I agree that it definitely does. But take a look at what I put on your talk page and see if you like any of it. I just added bits and pieces but maybe you can find something in it to incorporate into the page. Heart of the Force 01:17, May 21, 2010 (UTC)
              • Yep, I saw it.. It looks good. I've made an edit to that section of the article. I incorporated most of what you put in, with a few of my own variations. I didn't get them all, though. I'll have to take another look at some point in the future to get the rest of it. Axinal Convocation Chamber 01:40, May 21, 2010 (UTC)
                • Awesome, thanks bro for taking the time. Just checked out what you put up and it looks great. Heart of the Force 02:12, May 21, 2010 (UTC)

Hey I also saw another great Force ability: Obi-Wan blocking blaster bolts with his bare hands! This was in The Clone Wars, when Obi-Wan is taking part in the battle of Muunilist. Sadly, I'm a newbie and have no idea how to source it etc. so can someone please do it for me? thanks. I just noticed that someone already wrote about this in the beginning of this talk...but could someone actually write that he could block blaster bolts? My Obi-Wan TheoryEdit

Is it possible that when Kathy Tyers wrote The Truce at Bakura she (under supervision) decided to write Kenobi's spirit off for the rest of the expanded universe thereafter in order to avoid any grief from actor Alec Guiness whom grew annoyed by his portrayal and since wanted nothing to do with Star Wars anymore? korydvandyke 14:15, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

Death Edit

Obi-Wan didn't die - he learned the path to immortality. Just as Qui-Gon, Yoda, and even Anakin (but not Palps - LOL) did. On the Death Star he changed form, he didn't die.

  1. Death is defined as: to pass from physical life and lose all bodily attributes and functions necessary to sustain life. I'm pretty sure turning into a Force Ghost would pretty much fit into that description. SoresuMakashi(Everything I tell you is a lie) 08:20, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
  2. How about changing it to "changed form" or "ended physical life" or something like that? Because immortals cannot die. User:AHS0KA
  3. Actually Palpy did learn the path to immortality. He actually came back to life twice. Sithlord122681 03:34, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

palpy learned how to pass his soul on to other bodies. i don't think force ghosts can. i'm not sure though. taylorbeaty

obi has a brother Edit

did you know that in the novelization of star wars the return of the jedi when ob i wan appears to luke on dagobah he tells luke the owen larrs is his brother which if you think about it that means that obi wan is luke's uncle by marriage interesting isn't it

How do you work that out? --Lupin & Kingsley 15:04, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

  • No. Owen Lars is Luke's brother.69.154.214.235 21:38, 24 June 2009 (UTC) Master Smart
  • Owen Lars is Luke's uncle, Anakin's step-brother and no relation to Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan's brother's name is Owen, but he isn't Owen Lars. It's just a coincidence that George Lucas decided on the name Owen for Anakin's step-brother and that Jude Watson decided on the name Owen for Obi-Wan's unknown brother. Emiigurl

ok i dont get it Edit

ok when luke is on hoth and obi wan appears to him he says to go to dagobah because yoda is there and he will teach him and that he (obi wan) was taught by yoda but we find out that qui gon jin acctually tached him so whats up with that?

ok Edit

My Favourite Character Edit

Obi-Wan Kenobi

He is my favourite character because the actor is Ewan McGregor

         - BAZZ -
  • He's one of my favorite characters, too, but I'm afraid the talk page isn't for discussing things like that. It is only for what's relevant to the actual article, not whatever the article is about. I hope that makes sense. Qui-Gon Reborn Enter the realm of the fifth dimension... Anyone?Edit

Does anyone other than me object to the fact that Qui-gon is referred to as elderly in Obi-wans article? 'the elderly Jedi had been exhausted by the lengthy duel' It just doesn't agree with me. He may have been 60 but he was in perfect shape and there are other jedi who are older that aren't referred to as elderly. Darra 23:45, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

Image Edit

I think we should change the main image into a pic of him in his prime.DarthJudicar1998

  • While not a site's policy, it is generally accepted to use the image of a character's last known appearance as a main pic. The only exception seems to be Anakin, but there was a long debate over it. QuiGonJinnBe mindful of the Living Force...Quigonheadshot 10:03, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

But then shouldn't Obi Wan be a force ghost in the picture? That is how he appeared last!- Obi Wan Kenobi is AWESOME!!!

Why does Anakin get special treatment? If you ask me when I picture Obi Wan he is in his prime, and that seems to be the same for the majority of Obi Wan fans! Unsigned comment by 71.240.181.195 (talk • contribs).

  • The infobox picture is dependent on community consensus (not the fanbase), which was to have Ben Kenobi instead of Obi-Wan Kenobi. CC7567 (talk) 01:43, January 8, 2013 (UTC)

Height Edit

Obi-Wan Kenobi is listed as 179 cm, while Jango Fett is listed as 183 cm. How come in Attack of the Clones, Obi-Wan seemed to be taller than Jango when they were standing next to each other?--MegaLink08 05:39, 15 March 2009 (UTC)MegaLink08

  • It could have simply been a height issue with the actors, but I don't know the "official" answer to that question. --CC7567 20px-Rex.png talk 05:42, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

Automated transfer of Problem Report #18376 Edit

The following message was left by Anonymous via PR #18376 on 2009-02-08 02:05:53 UTC

"One day, Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn visited the Jedi Temple in the hopes of finding an apprentice." This sentence is not entirely true. Qui-Gon did not hope to find another apprentice, it was more like he was forced to attend the matches. It was only a rumor that Qui-Gon was in fact looking for an apprentice. There is a difference. Also, there is no mention of the events in Secrets of the Jedi.

Lightsaber Hilt Edit

I'm not quite sure if this is surely canon, but Obi-wan's lightsaber hilt is seen in the hands of other people. The cover of Secrets of the Jedi has Siri Tachi with the same lightsaber hilt that Obi-wan has in the picture. And stranger still Atris has Obi-wan's lightsaber on the cover of KOTOR2! Atris is never seen using this lightsaber during the actual game. Unsigned comment by 151.202.103.244 (talk • contribs).

Organic beings Edit

Towards the end of the article, it says that Obi Wan and Anakin are the only organic beings to appear in all 6 movies, but Palpatine/Darth Sidius is in each movie.--70.180.59.225 13:25, September 13, 2009 (UTC)

Legendary? Edit

Does the blurb at the beginning saying he was a "legendary" Jedi Master fall under NPOV? I noticed it was recently removed as such, despite being on several other articles. Since a lot of people are canonically known to have heard of him ("The Negotiator"), does this really count? —Milo Fett[Comlink] 13:57, September 28, 2009 (UTC)

Clone Armour Edit

On the third line of the section on "promotions" it says that, "Kenobi was also known to wear parts of Phase I clone trooper armor along with a Jetpack and a Clone Trooper Helmet". I was unaware he wore a helmet,(no matter how personalised it was), naturally I am going to take this oppertunity to ask if the user who added that information is sure it is correct. In addition the only time I am aware of that he wore/used a jetpack was in season 1 episode 11 of the cartoon Star Wars: The Clone Wars, (Dooku Captured). Therefore I think, "Kenobi was also known to wear parts of Phase I clone trooper armor and on occasion a jet pack" would be a more accurate phrasing.--81.129.55.33 14:13, October 4, 2009 (UTC)

  • If I recall correctly, he wore a clone helmet for a short time in the original Clone Wars TV series, which is also where he was first shown wearing clone armor. —Milo Fett[Comlink] 18:05, October 4, 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for ansewering my question. --86.142.138.65 18:25, October 5, 2009 (UTC)

On his Clone Wars action figure his head remouves and you can put a helmet on. Malia Jinn

Last stand against Lord Starkiller Edit

In the Ultimate Sith edition of The Force Unleashed, Obi-Wan faced off against a powerful Sith Lord, who had killed Obi Wan's former apprentice, Darth Vader. Obi Wan confronted the Sith Lord as Starkiller was about the enter the Millenium Falcon. Obi-Wan drew his saber, and tol the apprentice he could not allow him to board the Falcon. A fierce duel ensued between the aged Jedi and the younger Lord, who had been waiting for the opportunity to meet Obi Wan in person. Obi Wan was rapidly overpowered by the Sith Lord who stabbed him in the chest, a wound Obi Wan might had survived, if Lord Starkiller hadn't thrown Obi Wan into the engines of the Millenium Falcon.

Confident in the death of another Jedi, Starkiller again walked up to the Falcon, where he was ambushed by the spirit of Obi-Wan Kenobi. After a few slashes, the Dark Lord learned that the ghost of Obi-Wan was immune to saber attacks, and used the force to blast Obi-Wan's spirit with lighnting, eventually destroying Kenobi's ghost. With Obi Wan dstroyed, Lord Starkiller turned to see the Falcon taking off, and jumped up to the Falcon, planting a tracking beacon on the Falcon's hull.

The Obi-Wan page seems to be locked, so if someone could pop this in, that would be great. Have a good day. 129.3.150.11 23:49, November 17, 2009 (UTC)

Fate of Kenobi's saber in ANH? Edit

Presumably Kenobi's saber was destroyed when the first Death Star was destroyed but do we know this for a fact? Have their ever been any EU stories about this? I guess it could only have survived if Vader had it with him when he went out in his TIE fighter which seems unlikely. Thoughts?I don't know if anything about it needs to be added into the article but I was curious what happened to it. --DannyBoy7783 03:56, December 17, 2009 (UTC)

Timeline? Edit

Pardon me for asking, but aren't some of the descriptions of Obi-Wan's exploits written out of chronological order? Most of his feats that appear on the Clone Wars television show occur in 22 BBY, yet the section regarding Siri Tachi's death in 20BBY is placed before the sections regarding the television show. Is there a particular reason for this? If no, are there any objections to placing the "Loss of an old friend" section to right before the "Outer Rim Sieges" section? 147.9.180.113 16:22, January 25, 2010 (UTC)

  • Until there's an official timeline for the new order of Clone Wars events, there's no really preferred order for placing events in chronological order in articles, except where a work couldn't possibly come before/after the show (because of first meeting a character, character death, and so on), and even then it borders on speculation. Since Anakin's a Padawan in that source, it would have to come before the show, so the placement should probably stay, but the 20 BBY date could be removed. —Milo Fett[Comlink] 17:12, January 25, 2010 (UTC) Also what of the story of Master Qui-gon and obi-wan's missin to mandolore to proctect the duchess satine during the last of mandolore's civil war. could it not be place sometime after the stark hyperspace and before qui-gon's and obi-wan's mission to naboo.—User:JL19 8:25, January 6, 2011 (UTC)
    • The story of protecting Duchess Satine is only a mention in some Clone Wars episodes, for now. Trazeris 16:20, January 6, 2011 (UTC)

Kenobi's Image Edit

is there any chance of possibly changing the image from the one of Alec Guiness to one of Ewan McGregor just people could see what he was like in his prime? --Jkirk8907 18:02, January 29, 2010 (UTC)Jkirk8907

  • I think that would be a good idea, but I don't have the authority to do so.66.103.114.152 00:12, May 11, 2010 (UTC)
    • This has been discussed higher up on the talk page. Wookieepedia prefers images of characters in their last chronological film source; thus, Obi-Wan in ANH, Luke in RotJ, Padme in RotS, etc. Axinal Convocation Chamber 17:28, May 19, 2010 (UTC)

I'd also second a motion to have it switched to Ewan Mcgregor. I think he earned it, for me when I picture Obi-Wan, I picture Mcgregor. Is there any way to talk to the mods about this?

  • To be honest I think we should change it to Ewan's Obi-Wan, we use Hayden's Anakin instead of the Darth Vader Armour or Sebastian's Anakin, Also from what I know of Alec Guiness he'd probably want it to be Ewan's picture (if he'd even care) star wars isn't something he liked being remembered for.--Gboy4 19:17, September 18, 2011 (UTC)

Considering this http://www.nzherald.co.nz/entertainment/news/article.cfm?c_id=1501119&objectid=11232366 I think Ewan McGregor should have the image on the wiki page.Councilor 'Rumilee (talk) 17:07, April 7, 2014 (UTC)

Obi-Wan Kenobi's Lightsaber Edit

According to the Visual Dictionary of Attack of the Clones and the Ultimate Guide to Star WArs Characters and Creatures. Obi wan had two lightsabers. The first he used during episodes 2 and 3 the one with the sphere thingy on the end as a power cell. THe second in episode 4, against Darth Vader. However, what about episode 1? He had a lightsaber in which he fought Darth Maul. Qui-Gonn died. Maul throws Obi-wans's lightsaber into the pit thing. Obi-wan force jumps and grabs Qui-Gonn's lightsaber and kills Maul. So if he never got the lightsaber that fell in the pit back (We know this because no one recovered Maul's body so they obviously never went down there to get his lightsaber) how does he only have two lightsabers? If Lucas or anything explained this please let me know. Thoth19 01:59, March 9, 2010 (UTC)Thoth19

  • this may be a very late response, but, from what i know, he just got a new identical lightsaber after the one maul tossed down the shaft, and lost that when he was captured on geonosis, and used the one the jedi tossed him in AOTC until he made a new one, which is the one he used in episodes 3 and 4. Ralphjedimaster 22:10, January 5, 2011 (UTC)

Lightsaber (answer) Edit

Well, Obi-Wan had the same ligtsaber throughout Ep. 2-4. Ep. 1, his lightsaber fell and got Qui-Gonn's lightsaber. --Alexyodaross 02:14, March 9, 2010 (UTC)

  • I know this is similar to another answer, but in episode II, he lost he saber and used the one tossed to him, so he couldn't have use the same saber 2-4--70.79.78.44 16:38, July 9, 2011 (UTC)

So... What did happen to Kenobi's lightsaber in ANH? Edit

Did Vader take it? Did he destroy it? Anybody here know?

  • If you read a few subjects up, "Fate of Kenobi's saber in ANH," you'd see the answer. Vader keeps it and Anakin Solo later recovers it. Arashi 01:35, May 21, 2010 (UTC)

Affair with Satine Kryze Edit

What canon states that Obi-Wan had an actual affair with the Dutchess? I haven't read much where she is mentioned, but I don't remember anyone stating that they had an affair in the Clone Wars episode. Unsigned comment by 75.10.32.222 (talk • contribs).

He didn't, and anyways she's already married! Malia Jinn

Where in any canon say that he had an affair with her? That paragraph doesn't even have any references directly attached to it (yes, I am in denial over one of the best, straight-laced Jedi ever having a romantic relationship).--{{SUBST:Template:Signatures/Shoby4}} 09:40, August 16, 2010 (UTC)

  • They both talk about it openly in Voyage of Temptation. Also, "affair" does not necessarily mean of the adulterous kind, but it is pretty clear that with Satine and Siri he has had an "affair of the heart" so to speak. -Zekk_Skywalk 09:56, August 16, 2010 (UTC)
    • Okay, got it now. I've only seen the first season of Clone Wars because they've only shown the first 4 episodes on TV in Australia. I had to buy the Season 1 DVD. --{{SUBST:Template:Signatures/Shoby4}} 09:21, August 17, 2010 (UTC)

The sentence that I'm really interested in is "At some point after becoming a Jedi Knight, Kenobi had an affair with the Duchess from the planet Kalevala." That's the one that I can't find a source for.75.44.174.98 18:37, August 18, 2010 (UTC)

  • Again, it is stated in Voyage of Temptation. The quote in the relationships section is alluding to that "some point after becoming a Jedi Knight..." -Zekk_Skywalk 11:29, August 19, 2010 (UTC)

But wasn't that quote referring to when he was a padawan under Qui-Gon? The paragraph following the quote says "As Qui-Gon Jinn's Padawan, Kenobi went on a mission to protect Satine Kryze." This would necessarily be before Episode I, and thus before Obi-Wan became a Jedi Knight. Unsigned comment by 75.24.186.86 (talk • contribs).

Lightsaber debate sectionEdit

This section needs to clarify what Clone Wars animated series is being referred to, as all the The_Clone_Wars_(TV_series) images I see that show Kenobi's lightsaber look like his Episode III/"final" design one. The ones in Star_Wars:_Clone_Wars however do look like the Episode I and II model. I'm doing more research on the CGI series to see if he's ever had the older model saber. --Kathkira talk 17:12, June 20, 2010 (UTC)

Clone Armour Edit

In the the Clone Wars series (both the 5 minute segment series and the 1/2 hour series) Obi-Wan is seen wearing armour. But not the movies. Can we get a list of functions the the bracer(s) on his arms have?? We know from the 5 min. segments it has a holographic transciever. Yet in the 1/2 hour series it is just a plain comlink. I just think we need to know what the functions are. Also, is it ever stated as to why the Jedi are no longer using the armour in ROTS? Thanks. Taliesin2 05:06, July 16, 2010 (UTC)

  • They haven't given a reason in canon for why there's a change in Jedi equipping themselves. The only reason we have is out-of-universe in that it is primarily artistic license: all of the characters have different designs from the films in the television series. Even Artoo's panels are changed for the series, and the animators for the show have stated they have done that all on purpose to further the "style" of the show. -Zekk_Skywalk 06:01, July 16, 2010 (UTC)

Why can't we edit Obi-Wan Kenobi's page? Edit

So the page on Obi-Wan Kenobi is protected and cannot be edited by random users. This would be fine, were it not for the fact that administrators have been dropping the ball on updates for this page. First they took the word "Legendary" out of Obi-Wan's character description (a removal I found both excessive and callous, it wasn't hurting anyone and, quite frankly, it offers an accurate description of just how important Obi-Wan Kenobi was in the Star Wars Universe) then they refused to allow anyone else to offer any further improvements on the page. It appears that the Chancellor...the Emperor, is behind everything, including the war. Edit

"He was deceived by a lie. We all were. It appears that the Chancellor...the Emperor, is behind everything, including the war. Palpatine is the Sith Lord we've been looking for. After the death of Count Dooku, Ankain became his new apprentice."
Obi-Wan Kenobi to Padmé Amidala[src]

I'm concerned about the line from Obi-Wan Kenobi. Why didn't he mention "the Emperor" between "It appears that the Chancellor" and "is behind everything, including the war."? This calls for a discussion and a debate. Don't you think so? AdamDeanHall 21:01, August 6, 2010 (UTC)

Is that the exact quote from the film? Is that the debate??? Andreou 04:28, August 19, 2010 (UTC)

Yes, that is the exact quote from the film. AdamDeanHall 18:01, August 27, 2010 (UTC)

5.3 Factual correction: "Born on an unknown planet" Edit

The second paragraph of the main body of the Obi-Wan Kenobi Article currently starts: "Born on an unknown planet..."

As of Saturday, August 14, 2010, George Lucas announced at Star Wars Celebration V that Obi-Wan Kenobi's homeworld was called "Stewjon": http://twitter.com/starwars/status/2115926093

I would suggest changing the text to "Born on the planet Stewjon", or something similar to incorporate this newly revealed piece of information.

I agree, I was there also. George also states that it was also in the orig. script.george also mentioned that jettster was also from stujon, at least i think it was jettster

Droid Designation?Edit

"The name 'Obi-Wan' curiously resembles a droid name (e.g. Emkay (MK), Threepio (3PO), Artoo (R2) etc), and theoretically it could also be written as OB1 (KNO-B)."

-Copied and pasted from the article. Is this mentioned in any sources or reference books or anything? It seems like bull poodoo to me and doesn't really have anything to do with anything, i.e. it's just conjecture. Can we remove it? Grand Moff Elvin 15:53, August 22, 2010 (UTC)

-- I say we keep it in the "Behind The Scenes" sections, as it relates directly to the development/evolution of his character. There was a time early in the development of "Star Wars" when George hadn't locked down that number/letter combinations only applied to droids. Obi-Wan's name represents a unique moment when the naming standards were still fluid and his "droid-like" name survived. (MadTheDJ 15:10, October 27, 2010 (UTC))

Broken ref Edit

Hey all, there is a reference that's broken : "<ref name="GI" />" but there's no previous declaration of this GI ref... If anyone know what it should be please add the full ref, thanks Trazeris 18:18, November 14, 2010 (UTC)

New section under "Romantic Relationships"... Edit

I think there should be a section for Cerasi in the Romantic Relationships section. Obi-Wan practically was in love with her, I think he might have admitted that in the book. Darth Platypus 16:14, November 25, 2010 (UTC)

I think there should be a section for Taria Damsin in the Romantic Relationships section as they were briefly lovers, as explained in Clone Wars Gambit: Stealth and Clone Wars Gambit: Siege.----72.215.154.27 02:03, February 2, 2011 (UTC)

Problem Edit

"Kenobi fought during many battles of the Clone Wars, as well as one of the last members of the Jedi High Council." - He fought one of the High Council? This sentence sucks. I would change it, but I can't tell what it's supposed to say. Holocron Greatholocron (Complain) 08:38, November 27, 2010 (UTC)

  • Uh, I think there's supposed to be a 'being' between "as" and "one". 1358 (Talk) 08:44, November 27, 2010 (UTC)
    • Well, that makes more sense. Still doesn't seem to work properly though... Holocron Greatholocron (Complain) 08:51, November 27, 2010 (UTC)

Sourcing overhaul Edit

I am trying to source everything in this article. I have trouble finding references for:

  • "It is recorded that Kenobi might have occasionally visited Owen and the rest of the Kenobi family later in his life." where is this recorded?
  • Keeping the peace subsection: the diplomatic mission of Kenobi and Skywalker and on the Financial reform act begin the origin of the Conefderacy.
  • Promotions subsection: well we can see in The Clone Wars he is the Commander of Open Circle armada and he wore a clone armor but I don't know what to put as a ref...

Also, do we put the non-canon Old Wounds inside the biography section? Wouldn't it be better in the BTS? Trazeris 13:34, January 11, 2011 (UTC)

Also the PTS and P/A are quite difficult to reference... Trazeris 21:16, January 11, 2011 (UTC)

Undo Revision 3428003 by SithStalkerO66 Edit

Hello. I have undone last revision by User:SithStalkerO66 because I don't see the point of having two separate paragraphs. Maybe we have to find another title but for now we really don't know when the Third battle of Kamino takes place, so placing it after the Zillio Beast event is questionable. I agree the Battle of Rishi Moon and 3rd Battle of Kamino are separated by several months ([here]) but they is a cause/consequence relationship. Anyway I think we should wait before making this kind of rearrangement in the chronology of things. As it is the section on the battle of Rishi Moon is quite short, arguably it doesn"t need to be longer in Kenobi's biography but maybe merging events that are obviously linked like these should be a good way to improve overall quality of the article... Obi- Wan giving Luke his fathers Lightsaber... Edit

I'm sorry if I'm being a nusciance and this has probably been explained (I can't find anything on this article about this though), but when Obi- Wan gives Luke Anakin's lightsaber why does he say, "your father wanted you to have this" when Jedi aren't supposed to have children? Did Anakin ever tell Obi- Wan that he wanted a son in some point in time? Unsigned comment by 12.116.136.166 (talk • contribs).

  • Obi-Wan may be guessing what Anakin might have to said to Obi-Wan if he knew about his children, was comfortable in talking to Obi-Wan about them, and hadn't fallen to the dark side. Or maybe he's just lying. —Silly Dan (talk) 17:27, February 19, 2011 (UTC)
    • Thanks for answering my question as best as you could.

Was it "generations" or "years"? Edit

When Obi- Wan said to Luke, "for over 1000 generations the Jedi Knights protected the Republic", he meant to say 1000 "years" right? Or did they actually serve 1000 generations?

  • I'd say that it was 1000 years in Lucas mind, because Palpatine said in EpII (or III?) that the Republic is 1000 year-old. But authors and others working on the EU (logically) interpreted "generations" as 25 years, that's why the Republic was founded around 25,000BBY (25,053 BBY). The Ruusan Reformation was invented to explain this

discrepancy... Trazeris 14:52, February 21, 2011 (UTC)

Obi- Wan and the Droids? Edit

In ep4, did Obi- Wan recognize C-3PO and R2 or did he think they were some different droids? And if he did know it was them why didn't he say anything about them?

  • He did recognize them. He was not sure if R2 had undergone a memory wipe (3PO did) so he didn't say anything. (source: The Life and Legend of Obi-Wan Kenobi) From what I understand he might have been afraid of accidentally giving away info on Anakin/Vader to Luke by saying he actually knew the droids... I'm just guessing here. I will be adding information from The Life and Legend of Obi-Wan Kenobi in the next several weeks. Trazeris 21:59, February 22, 2011 (UTC)

Granta Omega Edit

In the paragraph below 'Knighthood", there are no statements about "a mysterious man"'s name until... boom. 'stopping Omega's mining of...'. This NEEDS attention.

Plus, in 'planning to kill the youth', I can guess that it's Anakin, but I can't be sure. Can someone change 'the youth' into Skywalker, etc.? GeneralKenobi96 13:35, March 28, 2011 (UTC)

  • What the heck i need it specified so i'll change it. if it causes problems, please change it again. thnx. GeneralKenobi96 14:01, May 7, 2011 (UTC)

Force abilities sectionEdit

Is it really necessary to include a Force abilities section for Kenobi? 'He could Force Push things,' or 'he knew how to use the Jedi mind trick' are pretty redundant statements. Of course he could do all that, he was a Jedi. I think the whole section should be trimmed back into the Powers and abilities section, with mention of only rare techniques, though I didn't look to see if he knows any. But aside from that, I don't think it is encyclopedic to include a description of everytime he used the Force. Force push, affect mind, jumping, they are things every Jedi, except the rare exception can do. Anyone agree? Purpilia 15:31, March 27, 2011 (UTC)

  • well his abilities that are stated are those in which he excels exceptionably, aren't they? For example, in case of Force Push, most Jedi would be unable to match Anakin's skill or push Grievous that far like Obi-Wan did in RotS. GeneralKenobi96 13:40, March 28, 2011 (UTC)
    • Not to be snarky, but can you back up these claims with sources or are they just assumptions? And is a really strong Force push that big a deal? Like I said above, mastery of Form VII: Juyo / Vaapad is a big deal, the ability to preform Morichro or Battle meditation correctly is a big deal, efficiency with the Art of the Small is a big deal. Pushing a cyborg into a wall...not so much of a big deal. I am all for hyper-inclusion on storyline basis, but I think that the whole section could be trimmed down without so much mentioning every time Kenobi calls on the Force (I know I am exaggerating, but I hope you see what I am getting at.) Perhaps, if no one objects, I will try and write up the section as I think it should appear and post it here once I am done. That way people can approve it without having an endless edit war. Just an idea. Purpilia 22:01, March 28, 2011 (UTC)
  • I must disagree with you on the importance of Force Push here. We may be influenced by recent sources like TFU video games and TCW but the extent to which Kenobi uses Force Push is no small feat. I'd agree the following lines are quite useless, though: "He was also capable of other telekinetic feats and could use the Force to increase his body's endurance and agility. Kenobi was capable of using the Force to perform extensive acrobatics, allowing him to leap huge distances." Trazeris 09:02, April 3, 2011 (UTC)

Zonama Sekot Edit

I think there should be more explanation of the battle on Sekot. It seems like Anakin suddenly killed Ke Daiv, and the battle ended thereafter. GeneralKenobi96 14:45, May 7, 2011 (UTC)

Durge vs. Obi-Wan Edit

Why is Obi-Wan surprised that Durge isn't killed by a single stab of his lightsaber on Muunilinst when he already fought him before on Ohma-D'un and Queyta? GeneralKenobi96 06:45, May 31, 2011 (UTC)

Because there are a lot of authors and filmmakers in this franchise who make things without thinking how it will relate to older works. Like The Clone Wars... Admiral James Kaizer (talk) 15:34, February 22, 2013 (UTC)

Specialization? Edit

Does anyone have any cannon information on Obi-Wan's specialization? I came to this article seeking that information and it doesn't seem to be here.

I'm guessing sentinel since the council sent him of on solo detective missions all the time.

Hey all, I'd like really like to have Obi-Wans picture changed to Ewan McGregor, is there any mods or someone with the authority to do this who can have a discussion about it?

Force Healing Edit

Doesn't Obi-Wan use force healing? It's not listed but I'm pretty sure he uses it to wake up Luke, and comfort Padme. 124.170.102.216 10:49, November 21, 2011 (UTC)

Rako HardeenEdit

Will someone update the article and add the information from the episodes Deception to Crisis on Naboo. Should this not be included in his Biography? I mean this is a section that should part of the article by now.--CC-1990 21:14, February 14, 2012 (UTC)

DeathEdit

Why does it say that Obi-Wan sacrificed himself to allow Luke and his friends to escape? What was going to happen if Obi-Wan didn't die? I think Luke, Han, Chewie, Leia, R2 Y 3PO would have escape on the Falcon even easier, wihtout the stormtroopers seeing them because of Luke's shout.----Skenar Jedi Order (Talk) 05:28, March 16, 2012 (UTC)

Missing Section Edit

Why are the events on Lanteeb and Kothlis (Clone Wars Gambit: Stealth and Clone Wars Gambit: Siege) missing from Obi-Wan's page? ObiKenobiUPC 00:52, May 31, 2012 (UTC)

If it is missing add it yourself. DarthRevan1173 01:53, May 31, 2012 (UTC)

Lightsaber training Edit

In the Lightsaber training section, it erroneously states that Obi-Wan's skill as a lightsaber duelist rivals even Yoda and Mace Windu. Ironically, it uses the novelization of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith as a point of reference. The irony is that this novel is the very source that asserts that Obi-Wan is not in their league as a duelist. When Yoda and Obi-Wan plan their confrontations with Sidious and Vader, Obi-Wan volunteers to face Sidious, so as not to fight his friend Anakin. Yoda specifically tells him: "Strong enough to face Lord Sidious you will never be." It's established in the novel that Palpatine, Yoda, and Mace Windu are all on par with each other as duelists, and it's also established that Obi-Wan is not of their caliber. I've corrected this before, but someone keeps changing the correction. Sorry if the Obi-Wan fans out there don't want to accept that he wasn't among the highest echelon of lightsaber duelists, but he wasn't.

Darth Creditor 03:33, May 31, 2012 (UTC)

Just reread most of the Revenge of the Sith novelization. And honestly Obi comes out looking much better than he does in the film. The council sending Obi-wan on the mission to Utapau, and Mace with his own words telling Obi-wan that out of all living Jedi he has the best chance at defeating Grevious blade to blade (which is what this section is about), And a few other places in which Obi-wan's skill is regarded as among the best, i think more than make this debatable. I dont believe it is erroneous.....debatable yes, and very POV as stated before. Nevertheless, ive removed the whole second phrase completely and just kept it at "he was one of the best".

--Kingj3489 19:37, June 3, 2012 (UTC)

I can live with that; I like Obi-Wan. But you have to give my guy Palpy his props, and in The Making of Star Wars Revenge of the Sith, the omniscient George Lucas was quoted as saying, "One would have to be either Windu or Yoda to compete with Palpatine." Although he adds that a healthy Anakin had the potential to beat him, of course. And when Yoda told Obi-Wan, "Strong enough to face Lord Sidious you will never be," he clearly saw fit to reinforce it by adding, "Die you will, and painfully." That says something. It says that Grievous was one thing; the greatest of the Sith was a whole other ballgame. I don't see what's POV about that, but it's cool. Darth Creditor 21:05, June 3, 2012 (UTC)

Yoda did say that, but Yoda has been wrong a few times before. Also one of Yoda's biggest weaknesses and problems is his arrogence. And i wasnt putting Grevious in the same class as Palpatine obviously, that would be stupid. I only meant to point out that Mace felt out of all living jedi he had the best shot at him. Also George Lucas in his Omniscience has been known to contradict himself. Either way, i guess this isnt the place for debates like this as it no longer has any effect on the section. Thanks for the input! --Kingj3489 04:09, June 10, 2012 (UTC)

Force barriers Edit

Does anyone know the source for the statement 'He accomplished the prior by placing Force barriers all around his mind, something only a Jedi Master should be able to do. This displayed not only his strength in the Force but also his strength of character' in paragraph 2 of 'Powers and Abilities'? I can't see anything in the cited source that confirms the bit about 'something only a Jedi Master should be able to do' (much as I'd like to believe it).

My apologies if I've done anything wrong here - I've never commented on this site before. 95.147.157.35 18:42, December 8, 2012 (UTC)

You are absolutely correct that that is not in The Hidden Past. Neither is the last bit. I moved the reference to cover only the information it actually contains and tagged the other two statements with [source?] (though I suspect it's pure fanon). —MJ— Holocomm 01:58, December 9, 2012 (UTC)

Friends and enemies to season 5

Just saying, shouldn't we edit with things like the attack on Obi-Wan Kenobi's fleet to Escape from the Republic military base . I mean its already at the end of Season Five.

Add Page Edit

Who thinks that The Battle of Sundari (The Lawless and Satine's death) should be mentioned? I think that it is very important, and should have its own section in his biography.--71.240.181.195 04:47, February 28, 2013 (UTC)#1Obi-WanKenobiFan

  • I absolutely agree, but currently the article is very behind in being updated. I've been working on it when I have time, first making sure there is adequate coverage on the season 4 info, and then moving on to season 5, which has no coverage. I can't say when I'll get to it, however, as I'm very busy IRL, and if someone else wants to go ahead and work on season 5, that's fine. If no one else does first, I do intend to add the info from The Lawless ASAP, as it is very important. Tomari7 (talk) 07:07, February 28, 2013 (UTC)

SacrificeEdit

I think we should put some light here. The article says Upon seeing Luke, he sacrificed himself for Luke and the Falcon's crew to escape. What does it mean? In which way Obi-Wan's sacrifice allowed Luke and the Falcon's crew to escape? I really believe that's a misunderstood of the film. Obi-Wan sacrificied himself, yeah, but in order to help Luke as a Force ghost, not to allowe anyone to escape!----Skenar Jedi Order (Talk) 06:02, October 17, 2013 (UTC)

Clone Wars "Ben" Goof Edit

Outer Rim Sieges Edit

What happened to the details on Kenobi's actions during the outer-rim sieges? There is barely two paragraphs for it now, which doesn't really discuss what happened. There are several battle he was a part of which are not mentioned in the article. Admiral James Kaizer (talk) 01:19, April 23, 2014 (UTC)
