Lord Picuturion[]

There's also a character in Children of the Jedi named Lord Vensel Picuturion. If he's specifically a Senex Lord, rather than just an Imperial aristocrat, then I think we'd have to place Picuturion in Senex Sector, presumably adjacent to Kwymar and thus caught up in the Suppressions, rather than specifically in Kwymar. I'll see what I can find as references go, but if anyone beats me to it, all to the good! --McEwok 14:00, 29 Nov 2005 (UTC)

    • But Jason in Part 5 of Hunt within flatout states Picutorion is IN Kwymar Sector. Also, the Picutorion Raid, IIRC, comes after the Battle of Praadost II in nearby Nembus Sector. It seems very VERY unlikely that Valance fought in Nembus Sector in Outer Rim, went halfway across the galaxy to fight in Senex Sector in Mid Rim, then went all the way backl for his next battle in Kwymar Sector in Outer Rim. While it is a reasonable ASSUMPTION the planet Picutorion was named after Picutorion or vice versa, it is an assumption IIRC. The canon placemtn of the PLANET remains Kwymar Sector. It is possible the Picutorion family had holdings in both sectors. Maybe one was Old Picutorion and the other New Picutorion?JustinGann 01:03, 30 Nov 2005 (UTC)
      • What if Picutorion was close to this Outer Rim Sector? Or is it explicitly in a position far away? VT-16 16:18, 30 Nov 2005 (UTC)
        • Sorry, VT-16. The problem is this:

Jason Fry's Valance articles specifically place Picutorion IN Kwymar Sector. Right now, though, McEwok is investigating the possibility that COJ places the planet in Senex Sector, halfway across the galaxy, which CUSWE seems to imply. McEwok is looking into COJ to see if it really DOES SO. Hoefully, he will be able to clarify this.JustinGann 16:56, 30 Nov 2005 (UTC)

  • "Lord Vensell Picutorion" appears in CotJ, Chapter 21 (hardcover, pp. 290-1): he asks Irek a question, then Irek gestures for the "other Senex Lords" to gather round; he's "Lord Picutorion" on the next page and subsequently. I may have missed other references — nothing here about him shaping the plot as described in the misspelt entry at the Unofficial Encyclopedia. It seems clear that Hambly intended Lord Picutorion to be a Senex Lord, and Picutorion to be in Senex Sector; but technically, we can wiggle this one of three ways: Lord Picutorion isn't a Senex Lord, but the head of an Ancient House from outside Senex Sector; or he is a Senex Lord, but the planet Picutorion is outside Senex; or we ignore WotC's OOU note with a specific "placement in Kwymar Sector" for Picutorion, infer that it's nearby and was caught up in the Suppressions (a meaning that the actual narrative text would allow), and do something skewy with the standard map. At present, we just don't know which of these to run with.
  • Another flub comes at the end, where Threepio says that Ackbar had described a buildup by Harrsk in "Atravis Sector" (Chapter 26, p. 334); this is a paraphrase of an earlier passage where Ackbar specifically mentions Spuma (Chapter 15, p. 198 - Threepio was half the Galaxy away at the time). Atravis is apparently mentioned elsewhere in CotJ, and is probably an error for Atrivis, but I don't know if there's any other specific source that locates Harrsk in Atrivis, as claimed here on Wookiee. I'll leave you to factor in the Valance article (which identifies the capital city of Spuma as a planet in Kwymar), and then Darksaber... and get a brain-melt!! --McEwok 17:40, 30 Nov 2005 (UTC)
    • Well, this doesn't seem too hard. It might be that this Lord Picutorion had Senex Lords or Ladies as relatives, maybe a father or mother, and this person might have married into the dominant Picutorion family on Picutorion in the Kwymar Sector. The capital city and planet-name thing is something we've seen before in SW, like Bestine being the capital of Tatooine and originally colonized by settlers from Bestine IV, for example.
