The "Gonk" droid first appeared in Episode IV, when R2-D2 and C-3PO are captured by Jawas. The Gonk droid was walking around inside the machinery ship. --DarthCow--Talk|Email

Robotix power droids Edit

The toy manufacture 'robotix' sells battery packs named POWER DROIDS. Should we write an article for that? Gonk123 (verobrain) 02:43, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

Name? Edit

Isn't there some sort of actual designation for this, rather than simply 'power droid'? I think I saw one somewhere...Unit 8311 16:20, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

  • Actually, 'power droid' is the designation, much like 'astro droid' is the designation for R2-units.Tocneppil 06:43, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
    • By designation I mean some sort of numerical name, such as the 24-TH power droid or something to that effect. Unit 8311 20:28, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
      • A specific droid name, like EG-6 or GNK power droid, would go under articles by those names, this article is about what a power droid is in general, just like an article about cars as opposed to Ford cars.Tocneppil 08:08, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
        • Right; and as can be seen by those links, we do have articles for those. It's the same as having an article for astromech droid as well as articles for R2, R5, and R7 droids. jSarek 09:08, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

Not to be confused with the Gaspump droid or the dustbin droid? In the 90s the usenet community decided to call the power droid gonk based on the sounds it made (though it clearly sounds like gwom to me). Lucas film picked up on it. Can anyone produce a source before this fro the Power droid name: ? 02:03, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

  • These were known as Ormondroids, produced on Dantooine by Ghor Donb-Urn and Wettle Hub at Lesta City Corp 86-87 BBY. What's the source for this part? None of these terms can be found on any other site --Sompeetalay 10:40, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Behind the Scenes? Edit

Back in the early eighties, I noticed that the chassis of this droid was originally a garbage can from McDonalds. I have searched the web for an image, but was unable to find one. I'm not sure how to confirm this, but I have called this the garbage droid since I was a kid...

that's an urban legend that has been floating around forever. No reliable sources exist to back that up. I've looked.
