KotOR-era Republic Troopers?[]

Old republic commander

Old Republic Commander mini

I think that we need to add some information in this article about the 3,955 BBY Republic troopers, such as Trask Ulgo. At least in the behind-the-scenes section, as a miniature in the CotF set is titled "Old Republic Trooper" and features a gaudy uniform that is somewhat reminiscent of the uniforms worn by Rebel Troopers. I will attach some images here (unfortunately with watermarks). —fodigg (talk) | 15:56, February 24, 2010 (UTC)

Oh, and I'm not suggesting we add screenshots of miniatures to the article. Some screens from KotOR would be nice. It's the intro mission, so it shouldn't be too hard to obtain if somebody has the PC version installed. —fodigg (talk) | 16:20, February 24, 2010 (UTC)
By the Force I am dumb. See Republic soldier. —fodigg (talk) | 16:24, February 24, 2010 (UTC)

Is this a page, or an Enlistement Poster?[]

This page, seems a bit like a Republic Propaganda poster. I will admit that some of these facts are true, but they seem too, well poetic! They seem to shine the light on teh traits of the troopers, in an unneutral way. "Carve a path to freedom and justice"? Doesnt that sound at least a little like an ad for joining the republic army? I'm not saying we put an angry anakin (Unneutral Page) sticker on it, just make it sound a little more neutral. --Turbogruntman117 22:23, October 18, 2010 (UTC)

Maybe describe the 'ideal' of the Republic Trooper (the official site stuff), then describe that there are troopers who weren't that ideal (IE, the guys on Ord Mantell with the refugee races, Dark Side Troopers, etc.)? Covers both what the official site says (which, like a lot of source texts, tend to exadgerate) and what actually happens. LukeDanger 16:11, January 2, 2012 (UTC)

Date of creation[]

Either the Republic troopers were created before the Great Galactic War, in which case the article needs to be corrected, or they were created after the Treaty of Coruscant, in which case their appearances in Return, Hope and Star Wars: The Old Republic, Threat of Peace have to be removed. Imperators II(Talk) 21:02, June 7, 2011 (UTC)

Return would indicate that the Republic Troopers have been in existence at least prior to the war and that the Republic Special Forces were made after the Treaty of Coruscant though this isnt spelt outright in the material. I think part of the problem is that things like the Holonet entry for the Republic Trooper indicates that they were formed after the Treaty. Yet, things like Return, Hope, the comics all show soldiers in Republic Trooper armor running around. Personally, I say the Holonet refers to the RSF rather then Republic Troopers but thats my own view. Darth Batrus 16:19, June 11, 2011 (UTC)

Yes, I did hear it was 200, as do many, --Conservative Christian Republican (talk) 03:34, December 11, 2012 (UTC)

Armor appearance[]

Someone speculated in the behind the scenes section that Clone trooper armor may have been based on Republic trooper armor of this era. However, I've read in numerous locations that Clone trooper armor was based on Mandalorian armor, as Jango Fett was a Mandalorian. By that extension, I was wondering if the Republic trooper armor design was itself based on Mandalorian armor. Don't know of any official lore on the subject, but thought it possible that the Republic, remembering the awful beating that they were getting in the Mandalorian Wars before the Jedi interevened, chose to adopt the superior designs of their adversaries' military equipment for the Great Galactic War. Only special forces?[]

I know that the character in the game is part of a Special Forces outfit, but in pretty much every other trailer and some of the TOR-era comics we see a lot of Republic troopers as rank-and-file soldiers. With that in mind should they really be seen as explicitly special forces troops? Are any regular Republic troops seen in-game? Unsigned comment by FleetMaster022 (talk • contribs).

Adding New Pictures[]

Could we add some screencaps from the Old Republic comic series to better display the armor and troops in action? I have some that I took earlier but was wondering if it would get removed? Cal Garvin (talk)Cal
