  • What exactly are you talking about doing? Moving the entire WP article, or merging? I think its just fine for us to have our own article, and our article has undergone quite a bit of wookification, which I believe you just completely undid. You're making me wish I had a revert button. -- Aidje 01:50, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)

The DVD Covers

On the cover of the Star Wars DVDs you have the main charaters and you have the battle of the movie on the cover under the charaters. ANH has X-Wings on the cover, TESB has AT-ATs on the cover, AOTC has Clone Trooper and Homing Spider Droids on the cover, but for TPM, there Pod Racers on the cover. What does the Pod Race have to do with the Battle of Naboo? Shouldn't there be Naboo Fighters on the Episode I DVD Cover? Double D 21:12, 22 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Xizor?

I just read that Prince Xizor was in the movie. What scene is he in? Prince Xizor 20:34, 27 Sep 2005 (UTC)

    • Technically, no, he's not. However, the EP I podrace crowd on Tatooine included many action figures, including multiple Xizor action figures, so I guess you could say there were Falleen watching the race, but not Xizor, unless he cloned himself or used Force doppleganger.JustinGann 23:03, 9 Dec 2005 (UTC)

Should the part where it says that Aurra Sing is reminiscent of Xizor be in here. I dont see how someone can think Sing is Xizor OOM-30 18:44, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

Here we Have it, folks?

Why are the first two sentences in there?

Paragraph question

"Obi-Wan killed Darth Maul by jumping up to high ground, turning around and slicing him in half with Qui-Gon's lightsaber. Somehow, Anakin knew about this and tried almost the exact same tactic to kill Obi-Wan at the end of their duel in Episode III. However, Obi-Wan anticipates this move and counters it." I want to question this. First, HOW did Obi have high ground over Maul, when they were both standind on the same flat surface. Second, what canon proof is there than in ROTS Anakin was trying to mimic this incident? I mean he could'nt reach OB1 from the lava collector, he had to jump to shore or not attack at all.JustinGann 23:03, 9 Dec 2005 (UTC)

Not only that, but Anakin didn't even had to jump over Obi-Wan to continue the fight, he could have just jumped to the large part of the shore in front of Obi-Wan, but provably Obi-Wan played a mind game on Anakin, he knew that by telling him not to try it Anakin was going to, on the other hand he does seems like he didn't want to do that because he still cares about Anakin. Now to answer your question, when Obi-Wan's hanging from a pole he isn't on high ground, Darth Maul is. 12:02, 12 Dec 2005

Obi-Wan didn't literally have high ground in TPM, he was just leaping out of the pit. Anakin may have heard about Obi-Wan's move after the fact, as Obi-Wan told him for the hundredth time, "Have I ever told you about the time when I killed Darth Maul? Well, Sith Lords in those days were way more powerful than the ones you youngsters have today!" Furthermore, Anakin may not even have known about Obi-Wan using this move, and Obi-Wan simply knew how to counter it. -Milo fett 14:44, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

New Characters

This may sound dumb, but should Darth Sidious be listed under New Characters? I know that Sidious and Palpatine are one and the same, but to most casual viewers, they don't realize that they are the same person. Just a thought. JuniorLax16

  • All the info about Sidious is in Palpatine's section but it is very unlikely that a person would watch the first and or second film without the third, so it probably doesn't matter. Bioevil087 (Mara’s Ex)Jedi Order 09:07, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Greeedo vs. Wald

On this page, and several Phantom Menace sources, they call the young Rodian "Greedo the Elder", but in th e novelization, he is called "Wald". Same person with erroneous name, or different? 209.104.139.221

  • Wald and Greedo the Elder are two different characters. Greedo is only seen in a cut-scene. (He's not Greedo the Younger from ANH, but his father.) VT-16 15:27, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

Cleanup

The dramatis personnae section needs to be cleaned up. It's largely in alphabetical order (good) but for some characters, the first name is used instead of the last name (bad). Also needs to be checked for accuracy. I started cleaning up a couple of days ago - Kwenn 22:01, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

They were going the wrong way

I assume the poster File:Starwarsgalaxy.jpg is canon as it is part of Star Wars insider but if it is it seems to contradict that after escaping from Naboo they were first heading to Coruscant landed in the closest planet which was Tatoonie. But if you look at Tattonie in relation to Naboo and Courascant it seems like they were travelling AWAY from Courascant...

Let me know what you think-jackchen123

  • When they left Naboo, their destination was, true, Coruscant. But when their hyperdrive was leaking, so they stopped on Tatooine, because it was close by, to fix the ship, after which they went to Coruscant. Snoop 11:42, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

But naboo is closer to Courascant than Tatoonie. If tatoonie was indeed the closest plante they must have beedn heading away from the core system jackchen123

  • Maybe they were hyper jumping to the right to then follow the Corellian route. That would put Tatooine as one of the closest planets. And they were trying to keep a low profile. -Finlayson 01:33, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
    • That makes sense; they couldn't have gone straight to Coruscant because the Deep Core's in the way. The Corellian route's the most sensible route, and of course, it heads right past Tatooine - \\Captain Kwenn// Ahoy! 08:39, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

I'm not sure if anyone has revisited this topic since the Atlas was published, but it shows the routes taken in each of the movies. I don't have it in front of me right now, but I do remember seeing that sometimes you had to go one direction to get to a hyperspace lane to go in another direction. This might also help explain it - possibly even illustrating the course as heading one way to get to the Corellian Route, as discussed above. Medleystudios72 21:48, September 11, 2009 (UTC)

New entries or all entries?

Ok, what are we going to have on the "vehicles/locations/characters" etc lists? All things that appear in each movie or new things only? VT-16 11:40, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

  • Those subsections aren't in a New Continuity section any more. I think it should be all. If not, change the labels to new locations, etc. to clarify. -Finlayson 13:41, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

Opening Crawl

  • Am I mistaken, or dows the Phantom Menace crawl not have any words in all-caps? If it doesn't, it should most certainly be noted. I would put that in the Triva section, but I'm not completely sure, and I'm not going to go watch the beginning just to find out; if you want to that's your business. I couldn't find any screenshots of the whole crawl, which is why I'm not sure. Anyway, If anyone does know for certain either way, then I'd like to know. 141.154.242.143 00:38, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

All movies have 2 sentences in the first paragraph except RotJ has 1 sentence and RotS has 4 (if War! is counted). All movies have 1 sentence in paragraphs 2 and 3. I've noted this in talk for all movies. -- anon, I'll register if I post again. 12:20 EST, December 28, 2006

George Lucas in the movie

On wikipedia under George Lucas it says he makes a guest appearance in it near the end? Where is he?Lord Titze the Dark Wanderer 16:37, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

  • He's not. RotS was the first and only time Lucas appeared in the saga, as confirmed by the Ep3 coverage on the official site - \\Captain Kwenn// Ahoy! 16:38, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

Question about one of the trivia notes

The second trivia piece is:

One of the more popular rumors was that Natalie Portman sprained her ankle while filming and her limp was corrected digitally in post-production.

Isn't this at least partially true, not a rumor? I thought that it was mentioned on the Episode I DVD commentary, when Padme is leaving the ship with Panaka to join Qui-Gon, Jar Jar, and R2 who were heading into Mos Espa. I remember something was said about her spraining her ankle, and that you could see her limping in that scene. Whether or not this bothered her through the other scenes, or whether it was ever digitally corrected, I don't know, though. - Indy Gold 23:21, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

Pogs

Two pictures at the bottom of the Trivia section refer to the set of Episode I "pogs." But were these actually Pogs? Or were they simply milk caps? I really don't know, but if they weren't actually Pogs, that should be changed. Or maybe the pictures removed altogether since there's not all that much reason to even have them on this page. Improvement drive

Okay, people, our goal is to make this FA worthy by week's end. Improve it in whatever way you can, but I think one of the main things we need to do is source the trivia section. Get on that, and feel free to post any other "to do" suggestions here. -- Ozzel 06:27, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

  • Do whatever you can to help. -Fnlayson 03:58, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
    • I think the synopsis section desperately needs subheadings, perhaps one for each reel. Also, I tagged the Reaction section as POV; I'm quite certain some folks gave TPM unguarded praise (Mick Martin and Marsha Porter of the Video Movie Guide, for example), and to say that all fans either hated it or gave "guarded praise" strikes me as inaccurate. Really, the whole section seems to emphasize the negative, and while I'm not exactly TPM's biggest fan, I think we need at least a paragraph there about what was praised. Gonk (Gonk!) 12:38, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I went ahead and added some positive reviews and some praises to the "Reaction" section to balance it out- LordNyax113, 7:17, July 31, 2007.

Production

Okay so I'm reading the production article and the first part makes sense, it's part of production. But this

This episode was also the first of the Saga to be referred to primarily by its number (Episode One) by media and fans, to contrast it with the classical saga the public already knew. This reference also gave finally some sense to the riddling numbers IV-VI of the previous movies. In contrast to the more self-explanatory titles of the other films, the title, "The Phantom Menace" is ambiguous. It is usually suggested that the title refers to either of the two Sith, or the Sith Order itself. The title could also refer to the origin of Darth Sidious's name, which is the adjective insidious. The Oxford Dictionary gives the following definition: Full of wiles or plots; lying in wait or seeking to entrap or ensnare; proceeding or operating secretly or subtly so as not to excite suspicion; sly, treacherous, deceitful, underhand, artful, cunning, crafty, wily. (Of persons and things.) So the word phantom in the title of Episode I could be referring to the Dark Lord of the Sith and menace to the meaning of the name "Sidious." Another possible meaning of the title is a subtle indication at the ultimate outcome of the Saga—the birth of Darth Vader. A further theory is based upon the understanding that the central menace of the movie, the Neimoidian dominated Trade Federation's blockade and invasion of Naboo, is itself nothing more than a phantom, a piece of political misdirection wrought by Darth Sidious as part of the machinations designed to bring about the ultimate victory of the Sith. In this sense, the key outcome of this movie is the elevation of Palpatine to the office of Chancellor—an outcome that would have resulted had the Trade Federation's gambit succeeded or failed. The keystone of the plot is the plight of the Naboo arousing a sympathy vote in the Senate. While the heroes are focused on combating the threat to Naboo, they are unwitting pawns in a connivance of far greater scope. However, while all these theories are possible, they are also likely too literal for such base interpretation. The "Phantom Menace" is most likely a simple allusion to future dark events that are unclear. Until the time of Episode I the Galaxy has been largely at peace. The events of Episode I trigger a cascade of events that will put the Galaxy under Sith rule for decades. Therefore, the best interpretation is that "The Phantom Menace" does not refer to a single entity or event, but rather to the notion of impending evil that nobody can truly foresee, something that Obi-Wan makes an allusion to at the beginning of the movie:

Has nothing to do with production, it's about the title of the movie, not even the process of lucasfilms deciding what to name it, but our interpretation. Nothing to do with production. Isn't there anything on the making of the movie, special effects used in this film not used before or at all, the making of type things, that should be part of production budgeting... All of that? In short that chunk there should have it's own section, and there needs to be something on the actual making of/production licensing budget filming marketing things like that.AryeonosWhat!? 19:02, July 28, 2011 (UTC)

Post-credits

On the Wikipedia page, it says that for the 3-D release, there is a small scene post-credits. A link/source has been provided, but it says nothing about it. Can someone who has seen the 3-D release confirm whether there is a post-credits scene? Ressor 01:10, February 13, 2012 (UTC)

Skirmish aboard the Saak'ak page?

Is there any reason there's no page for the skirmish aboard/mission to the Saak'ak? To me, that certainly seems like an event worthy of a page. It saw the destruction of the Radiant VII as well as the death of its crew, the Trade Federation, by order of Darth Sidious, attempting to kill Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan with dioxis, B1 battle droids, and droidekas, Gunray giving orders, even contacting some of his troops via hologram, and Qui-Gon attempting to break into the Saak'ak's bridge. I'd be more than happy to create a page for this, at least just to make an infobox for it and give some basic information about the event. Cevan IMPpress (talk) 02:01, January 14, 2016 (UTC)
