There are some truly bizarre creatures depicted in the posters common on Nar Shaddaa. One appears to be playing a sax-like instrument, another's head consists predominantly of two stalks that end in huge eyes. Do we have any idea whatsoever what these things are? Apparently User:Dark Lord Trayus feels that Cyborgs are going to be a playable race. They cite PC gamer as a reliable source for this. I checked PC gamer and they say nothing about this. Then I did some thinking and if the game was introducing another playable race, they would have something about it on their official web page. So I went over there and saw not a peep about it. Plus, if you look at Star Wars history, as per this wiki, you can see that Cyborgs have never been considered their own race. None of this makes sense and to me it seems as if this user is trying to push in something they want that no reference supports. Please stop trying to re-introduce cyborgs as a new or existing race. Brothejr 11:42, May 22, 2011 (UTC)

Teehee.--Hitodama 05:54, October 17, 2011 (UTC)

Due to the lifted NDA if you play the game or watch the character creation videos cyborg is considered a separate race. While agree that cyborgs have not been considered a separate race in previous Star Wars canon should they be included as a game mechanic?

Read: Sith Inquisitor Pureblood?

This was a mistake, and here is the correction:

"Hey folks,

As some of you may have seen on the list that incorrectly got out with species/class combos last month, right now character creation is set to "dev mode" and allows all combinations.

Some are much funnier and wrong than this--Pureblood Knight anyone? That doesn't mean they will be shipping. In this case, in a rush to get a screenshot done, someone goofed and made an illegal class-species combo. There is no confirmation of Pureblood SIs at this time.

Hope that helps,

Daniel"

Thank you; I dug up the link (below).

If it isn't a good enough source, then you'll just have to correct it when the game ships, I guess Unsigned comment by (- -) (talk • contribs).

  • Uh, source? -Tm_T (Talk) 20:04, July 11, 2011 (UTC)
    • Here's the source, I hope it's good enough. It's not as if I'm adding something un-sourced: [1] (- -) 20:31, July 11, 2011 (UTC)
      • Actually, now that update 1.2 has launched, due to the Legacy system that is now in place, it IS possible to have a Sith Pureblood Jedi Knight. ForceDesciple 15:07, June 3, 2012 (UTC)

Pre-Orders now available!

TOR is now available for Pre-Order. You can get either the standard game or the Collector's Edition. Both have a bonus code that gets you a stone that changes the color of your lightsaber.----Kardas4210 20:06, July 21, 2011 (UTC)

How do we handle the Opening Crawls?

According to the event at Comic-Con 2011, each of the eight classes will have their own opening crawl. Are we going to post eight opening crawls in this article? (- -) 14:00, August 11, 2011 (UTC)

For mac?

It looks to me as if this game will be only for PC. Does anybody know if there's a mac version coming out? 49.129.52.182 08:28, August 16, 2011 (UTC)

  • Yes it is only for the PC. The only way for Mac Users to play is if they Bootcamp it. They have stated that they have no plans on making/releasing a Mac Version of the Game, but that they will make sure the game is Bootcamp accessible Altyrell 02:59, October 16, 2011 (UTC)

About the Companion's Section

When were some of those Companions officially confirmed, like HK-57 being a Bonus Companion for all Classes and some of the others, especially the Red LinksAltyrell 02:59, October 16, 2011 (UTC)

It was a beta leak, I guess... Nothing official yet. ShaakTi1138 08:43, October 16, 2011 (UTC)

Overspeculation

Haven't read the whole page but I'm seeing a little too much speculation/assumption, I think more sourcing is needed in order to back up some of the information on this page. For example, how do we know that Naboo is only going to be mentioned in TOR? Did somebody get hold of the entire script of the game? There are plenty more assumptions in this page that I'm not liking either. --Masterbmw 02:06, November 9, 2011 (UTC)

Information from beta testing

Just out of curiosity, are we intentionally avoiding the release any information from the beta (i.e., new characters, items, locations), out of respect for BioWare's wishes to keep the details available to only beta testers? In the email they asked for confidentiality, so I figured I'd ask before acting. // ~mikah~ 15:46, November 17, 2011 (UTC)

  • That information would violate the NDA (non-disclosure agreement). Also see Forum:CT Archive/Preparing for TOR. 1358 (Talk) 15:47, November 17, 2011 (UTC)
Ah, thanks. Haven't seen that discussion before today. // ~mikah~ 16:10, November 17, 2011 (UTC)

Is TOR Canon now with the NDA down, or do we have to wait until 12/15 (or 12/20)?

I admit I'm curious about that myself - I'd heard the NDA was lifted (and little wonder, with the last beta weekend coming and the release a month away now). --Joshmaul 18:04, November 19, 2011 (UTC)
With the email I got yesterday regarding this upcoming weekend's beta testing, BioWare reminded us that "EVERYTHING associated with the test is Confidential Information." I know nothing about how exactly the NDA works, but doesn't this mean that we're still required to hold off on new information? // ~mikah~ 16:44, November 22, 2011 (UTC)
See Forum:SH:TOR spoiler precautions. The NDA is lifted, but BioWare wants us to hold off major spoilers, apparently. 1358 (Talk) 16:47, November 22, 2011 (UTC)
Since it's already been established that Revan will appear in the flesh, and players who have completed the Taral V mission have confirmed with video proof that Revan is the "unidentified Jedi prisoner," should we redirect the prisoner page to Revan's article and remove it from the list of appearances? I hesitate to do it myself; I don't know what you guys and BioWare consider to be "major spoilers." // ~mikah~ 16:43, December 2, 2011 (UTC)
I'd say wait a couple more days just in case, its release is in just another week now. User: Barren167 Darth Caedus: Childhood fan-character ruined. 16:41, December 13, 2011 (UTC)

Cyborg race "not supported by main website"

It's supported by the game itself. (Beta tester, heh.) I don't think that's exactly a "world-shaking" spoiler - unlike, say, story elements. (Like, I dunno...Revan, maybe?) --Joshmaul 12:53, December 18, 2011 (UTC)

Strictly speaking, "cyborg" isn't a race. In context of TOR, they seem to just be humans with mechanical facial implants. DigiFluid 16:57, December 29, 2011 (UTC)

Player-Character Names

Since most of the playable characters in the game do not yet have pages of their own (the exception being the inquisitor), I thought this the best place to post this:

I know that several characters in ToR receive class-specific names. [SPOILER] For example, the Imperial Agent becomes "Cipher Nine" and the Sith Inquisitor becomes "Darth Nox". When (and if) the pages for these player characters are created, would it not be preferable to use these names as page titles? Certainly "Darth Nox" is more appealing than "Unidentified Sith Inquisitor". [END SPOILER]

Of course, I don't know whether or not the other classes receive similar class-specific names. If the Jedi Knight receives no such name, then, if only for the sake of consistency, it may be better to the "unidentified ________ ________" format.

So, two questions: Do all of the classes receive names such as these? Is there opposition to using these names as the titles of the pages corresponding to each player?

76.119.85.156 03:33, December 24, 2011 (UTC)Arcus1

  • The difference is that Cypher 9 is the code-name for all playable Imperial Agents, but the Sith Inquisitor's name change is dependant on alignment. Based on the actual Sith Inquisitor page linked, there are three names available. So while "Darth Nox" may end up being canon in the end....as of now it would be incorrect to title the page as such.--Jxspyder 16:43, December 29, 2011 (UTC)

Criticsm?

The section "Criticism" on the article page alleges that the EULA changes to SWTOR were controversial, but does not substantiate these claims beyond one author's opinion - which cannot be taken as representative of anyone other than himself, nor show both sides of the EULA issue. This is neither NPV nor adequately sourced material. I will remove the section if this cannot be corrected. Jubaal 09:00, January 6, 2012 (UTC)

  • I've removed the section; thank you for brining it to my attention. If the original author or any other editors would like to re-add this information, please be certain to find more sources and more substantiation. Darth Trayus(Trayus Academy) 09:13, January 6, 2012 (UTC)

Appearances (Add to)

I couldn't add Kel'eth Ur because the page is locked. If someone can add it at this time, please do so, otherwise this may remind someone to add him once the page isn't locked. Veronica Nowakowski 08:45, January 16, 2012 (UTC)

First Appearances

I'm assuming we're just leaving the (First Appearance) off in the Appearances section because almost all the characters are having their first appearance?--Cade1 18:42, March 6, 2012 (UTC)

Suggestion for the Appearances Section

I was looking through several guides for The Old Republic, and I noticed that there are an enormous amount of characters - not to mention all of the other stuff in the appearances section. On Tython alone, there are 324 NPC's. My solution: We create a separate article for the Appearances section. We could replace the characters section with a link to the new article, because otherwise the article will just get too big. Any thoughts? Cade1 03:07, March 8, 2012 (UTC)

  • I'd certainly support this having taken a fair few screen shots while playing through Tor so far and already having folders and folders of them with out even being halfway through the game and mainly on only one class! That isn't even taking into account all the things just mentioned in dialogue so this appearances section is going to be massive. Ayrehead02 08:19, March 8, 2012 (UTC)

Cathar

Can someone please provide a source that says that the Cathar is a playable race in SWTOR? Since sofar I cannot choose it within the game, meaning that this is (at this moment) false information). ~~ Haou1987

  • They've been announced, but they have not yet been added to the game. See this article. So, yeah, if you see someone add them to the article here as a playable race, please remove that, since it's not in the game as of yet. ~SavageBOB sig 23:45, June 8, 2012 (UTC)
    • I deleted it, but someone returned it back to the page. IT IS NOT A PLAYABLE CHARACTER YET! So please everyone, don't add it. ~~ Haou1987
      • Please don't change back the character species on the Star Wars: The Old Republic page. It is not in the game yet so don't put it on the page yet. Thank you. Haou1987
      • [2] 0:32, Check here please and don't revert my edit or delete Makeb and Asation too.Maxattac 00:34, June 9, 2012 (UTC)
      • Since you insist to remove anything that has not yet been implemented in the game despite the official announcements, so let's take away Makeb and Asation from the page. I just want to point out that this reasoning is pretty stupid, even if you have received the anointing of SavageBob. Indeed, if you had been registered on wookieepedia at the creation of the SWTOR article, you would have noticed that at the base this article was full of official informations, and this long before the release of the game. Curiously, nobody at this time found something to say about it, but hey I bow facing the weight of the majority.Maxattac 01:02, June 9, 2012 (UTC)"
      • The copy of a discussion on my talk page where I give my opinion on the subject Maxattac 01:16, June 9, 2012 (UTC)
        • Calm down, Max; sarcasm isn't helping anything. You're right that the Cathar have been announced as a playable race, but they are not yet in the game as a playable species, so you are incorrect to add them to the playable species section. Instead, if you want to add information about announced content that is not tied to a known expansion, you should create a new section of the article, under "Update history," and below "Game update 1.3: Allies," and call it something like, "Future additions" or something similar. There you can put information on announced additions like the Cathar. ~SavageBOB sig 04:22, June 9, 2012 (UTC)

Timeline placement

Didn't a lot of the pre-game release material allude to the treaty of Coruscant taking place three decades prior to the events of the game? Meaning that the game actually takes place in 3623 BBY? Jartka'irn (talk) 09:08, August 12, 2012 (UTC)

  • I've heard nothing about that, but regardless, that's pre-release material like the original KOTOR2 trailer. It has no bearing on the actual game, as the writers have confirmed it happens between 3,643 and 3,641 BBY. Cade Calrayn StupidRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit 15:08, August 12, 2012 (UTC)
  • It's true that they did say there were going to be a few decades between Threat of Peace and the game though. That's why Satele Shan looked very young in the comic and her originally planned adult appearance, when still based on that comic, had grey hair and such. Primo BTS material if you can find any remnant of that. NaruHina Talk Anakinsolo 18:19, August 12, 2012 (UTC)

Immediate attention

After a bit of reshuffling of the article, some big expansions, and a ton of link tidying, I think the article is up to snuff. I've removed the Immediate Attention header for this reason—at this point, the Redlinks template is all that's really needed. If anyone feels the need to put the IA one back up, please list reasons here so that they can be addressed. Thanks. — DigiFluid(Whine here) 16:30, August 20, 2012 (UTC)
