Better versions of the DVD covers Edit

Am I the only one obsessed in removing the box and just having the cover art in images? Like this one. The trilogy dvd's all have these boxes, and they don't all match. Does anyone have covers that match in stile and quality, for all 6 movies? --Steinninn 03:20, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

WillowEdit

Why is Willow on this list? Darth Prefect 15:53, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

  • See this on Willow's article: "On April 1, 2006, StarWars.com updated its Databank with elements from the film and its spin-off novels, indicating that Willow would be added to the Star Wars continuity. Elaborate databank entries were written which attempted to plausibly fit the film into the history of the Star Wars universe. However, two days later, it was revealed to be an April Fools' joke, and thus non-canon". -- Delmar Nori 03:53, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

Other DVDsEdit

Any objections to adding other Star Wars-related titles like the Total Movie DVD that featured TROOPS or various other fan and/or parody releases like Hardware Wars, Thumb Wars or Star Wait. We could put them in their own section, separate from "authorized" parodies like Robot Chicken: Star Wars. Darth Prefect 02:08, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

  • I can see where you're coming from, but i think this page should only be for lisensed Lucasfilm releases. It really is a good idea though Dr.Kermit(The Doctor is in) 02:17, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
    • The focus is on "official" releases *now*, but I don't think it would hurt to expand its focus. Alternatively, what about a separate article, Star Wars-related DVD releases, which could be ridiculously inclusive: every That 70's Show season with a Star Wars-focused episode, The Muppet Show, etc. These are the kinds of pages I think people expect from a Star Wars wiki: overly detailed guides to what's out there. Expand or Split? Edit

Now, when the article has been kept in its expanded form, I'd like to propose further changes to it. Currently, some DVD releases are also described in the articles for the related movies and series (Episodes I-III, Ewoks, Droids), while some other releases have their own articles. In order to reach the unification one of the following must be undertaken: either we split this page, so that each DVD release would have its own separate article (as every other piece of media - books, comics, TBS - does) and the DVD sections of movies and series articles would be reduced to a simple {{main|New article name}}; or we merge each separate release listed above into this page, in this case the DVD sections in the existing articles for movies and series will not only stay, but require expansion. Personally, I'm for the first option, but I am interested to know what the community has to say. Mauser 12:20, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

Easter Eggs Edit

Is there any way to access the easter eggs on the prequel films on a computer? ZEM talk to me! 15:54, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

  • Yes, you still need to enter THX and the sound menu and then press 1-1-3-8-Enter on the NUM keyboard. Mauser 16:09, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
Thank you. ZEM talk to me! 16:26, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Prequel Trilogy and Original Trilogy box sets Edit

I live in Belgium and a friend of mine was offered the two 6 films boxsets for Christmas and the content seems to be incomplete. From the prequels, they are only single DVD versions, and for the OT, they are also single DVD versions, but only the unaltered released in 2006. It's obviously incorrect, since I read here and on Amazon that the prequels should be with their bonus and that the original trilogy should come in the 2004 version and the 2006 unaltered, thus making a total of 12 DVDs, instead of the 6 we have. Did anyone see this too? There's no info on the boxsets, are they two versions?... That's kinda annoying. Klow 01:34, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

Splitting article up Edit

We need to move the Blu-Ray releases to a separate page, and perhaps create a page for VHS releases as well. Or perhaps change the article name to "Home video releases". Opinions? --Vandar Tokare42 (Talk to the hand) 10:58, May 5, 2011 (UTC)

Yip. I dunno why everybody thinks it's ok to list Blu-Ray as a sort of enhanced DVD. It is not. It is adifferent format. Like LaserDisc was before DVD. And VHS before that. Don't forget about Betamix, Video 2000 and Super 8.91.19.214.229 11:09, August 18, 2011 (UTC)
I'd go a step further and suggest that detailed list of pages is made, like Star Trek has for different formats and regions for example:

http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Trek_VHS_releases_in_the_UK http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Trek_VHS_releases_in_the_US To list every variant of release, especially considering changes, because VHS had several generations of rereleases, same with DVD and BD, so tha collectors would have a guide to which edition to hunt for.

Why is this page still called "DVD releases"?Edit

There are Blu-ray releases on this page now. Do we split the page or rename it? — Eric Geller (talk to me) 02:08, July 31, 2013 (UTC)

  • That's a good question. Either the page title should be changed to Star Wars home video releases (and include VHS, LaserDisc releases and the like), or create a Star Wars Blu-ray releases page and move the respective text. Alexrd (talk) 16:40, September 19, 2013 (UTC)

2013 Star Wars Trilogy Episodes IV-VI (Blu-ray + DVD)Edit

Could anyone comment as to whether this trilogy release will be the 1997 versions of the films or the 1970s versions? The last trilogy release was the 1997 versions, so I'm curious if this is more of the same, or the originals. Thanks. -- LordTBT Talk! 05:01, August 12, 2013 (UTC)

  • This isn't the place to ask these kind of questions, unfortunately, as talk pages are meant for discussion of the article and not the topic. You can try the Knowledge Bank or the Senate Hall, but you might find more luck through Google or a site like TheForce.net. Rebels Season 1 Edit

  • Why was my post where I pasted a link for the Rebels Season 1 blu-Ray on Amazon reverted without comment? I was only trying to bring attention to its existence and that it might need to be added to the page 124.176.155.183 18:17, June 5, 2015 (UTC)

TFA bluray Edit

JB-HI-FI, a major Australian retailer, have made TFA blurays (and DVDs) available for preorder here: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/movies-tv-shows/movies-tv-shows-on-sale/sci-fi/star-wars-the-force-awakens/889391/ Should this be noted on the page or should we wait for a more official word? I only ask because the release date doesn't seem like a regular placeholder date. Overlordjeff (talk) 19:37, December 17, 2015 (UTC)

Release Dates Edit

Attention everyone, this is not about making changes to the article, but in relation to others, I think each and every date on this article should be added to all day and year articles. I know some are already there, but not all of them. For those that are not, please do so. Thank you. --Retro Reed (talk) 20:31, January 12, 2019 (UTC)

  • Well free to go through and the ones not already on the pages --Lewisr (talk) 18:59, January 15, 2019 (UTC)
