Technical DesignationEdit

Obviously the name X-wing is canonical, as it was mentioned in the films. But is the designation "T-65" technically considered canonical anymore? It used to say it in the SW.com databank, but the new entry (as far as I can tell) just refers to it as an "X-wing".

  • Oops, nevermind. I just remembered Garven Dreis/Red Leader/whatever his new name is mentioned T-65 in the special editon.--JuiceStain Rock on! Epiphone sg-black 02:19, July 7, 2014 (UTC)

Need to make a new article?Edit

In the legends, both X-Wing Starfighter and the T-65 X-wing starfighter connects to this T-65 X-wing starfighter/Canon article. So, can we still make a new article with the title X-wing starfighter or for now we state this T-65/Canon as the X-wing starfighter? Jaewade (talk) 14:40, December 2, 2014 (UTC)

  • For now, this is the only Canon variation of the X-wing. Thus, we dont need another page. Most Legends Y-wings link to our one Canon Y-wing page. Also, please sign your post.AV-6R7User talk:AV-6R7 14:30, December 2, 2014 (UTC)
    • Oh, I forgot to. Okay, thank you for answering. Jaewade (talk) 14:40, December 2, 2014 (UTC)
      • I would say AV-6R7 is incorrect. The X-wings in Episode VII are quite clearly not T-65s. I support the creation of X-wing starfighter. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 16:01, December 2, 2014 (UTC)

Remove Incom references?Edit

Just a note that I can't find any reference to Incom in non-Legends sources online, and it appears to only be from Legends material. Unless someone else can find something, maybe we should remove those?--Mondoblasto (talk) 16:59, April 11, 2015 (UTC)

First identified as...? Edit

Many articles on ships etc. have noted in the Appearances section what source first identified the ship by name. I don't see that for X-wing/T-65. I'm guessing first identification as T-65 would be in ANH SE 2004 version (shouldn't each version of the movie be listed separately so people can pinpoint the source by the way? Or is only the latest version considered cannon anyway?). I'm not sure when the ship was first ID as an "X-wing" as this term is not used in ANH at least. Similarly TIE fighters were not identified as such until ROTJ as far as current cannon is concerned. Can anybody confirm what the earliest cannon use of the name X-wing is? Gonkgonkgonk (talk) 17:40, March 28, 2016 (UTC)

  • To answer each question separately:
    1. "X-wing" was first used in A New Hope, but the full term T-65B X-wing starfighter was never used in any of the films. The earliest canon use of that fill name was the Encyclopedia. You can see that in the sources section, where it uses the 1stID tag.
    2. Only the latest version of the films are considered canon. So the pre-2011 versions don't factor into canon at all.

Thanks, can you remind me of a line in ANH where X-wing was used? I"m drawing a blank and can't find it in the script... Also I could have sworn one of the new scenes added in the 2004 SE contained a reference to Luke being trained or certified for "the T-65". Gonkgonkgonk (talk) 18:43, March 28, 2016 (UTC)
  • The X-wing isn't identified by name in any way until Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back when an Imperial officer at Cloud City says "Ship approaching, X-wing class." Funny enough, that dialogue was adapted for our "update" template here on WP. I can't say for sure where the first identification of T-65 or T-65B came from, but it's definitely not in the original trilogy.Shayn Mikel (talk) 19:33, September 14, 2017 (UTC)

Two conflicting sources Edit

Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need to Know states that the maximum atmospheric speed of a T-65B starfighter is 1,250 kph. Star Wars: Ships of the Galaxy states that it had a max speed of 1,050 kph. This article assumes the latter to be correct. - Icon Faction ImperialCommander Boots 00:08, June 2, 2016 (UTC)

Length and width? Edit

Does the Rogue One visual guide actually states that the T-65B is 13.4-meter long and 11.76-meter wide? Aren't those the measures of the T-65C-A2 X-wing starfighter? --Lelal Mekha Old Republic military symbol (Audience Room) 18:51, December 19, 2016 (UTC)

  • My mistake on that, I changed it back just now --Lewisr (talk) 22:57, December 19, 2016 (UTC)

T-65Edit

As far as I see Ultimate Star Wars only identifies the ANH X-wings als T-65Bs, similar to Star Wars: Rogue One: The Ultimate Visual Guide identifying the Rogue One X-wings als T-65C-A2s. What about a system like Legends, with a T-65 aricle for all T-65 appearences and a T-65B and T-65C-A2 for their special mentions? As I see it was never said that all general T-65s are T-65Bs. 212.114.239.132 18:49, July 3, 2017 (UTC)

    • Makes sense. That's how it's done for the Legends variants. Shayn Mikel (talk) 19:30, September 14, 2017 (UTC)
      • I know this is old but I’ve tried to do that and it keeps getting changed to a redirect page to the T-65B X-wing page. - Red Duel 13:18, April 15, 2019 (UTC)

Crew list Edit

  • I was thinking that we move the list of T-65B X-wing cremembers to X-wing starfighter in order to list pilots/droids who flew unidentified or unspecified models. I just wanted to get some community input before making such a major change. Shayn Mikel (talk) 19:35, September 14, 2017 (UTC)

B as the New Canonical Name Edit

Why is there a B added at the end of T-65 in Canon? Should the reason for that go anywhere in this article? --Retro Reed (talk) 22:32, August 28, 2018 (UTC)

Ultimate Star Wars identifies the ANH X-wings as T-65B, but I also don't see a reason why this should affect all T-65s, especially since Star Wars: Rogue One: The Ultimate Visual Guide identifies the T-65C-A2 model which is visible not distinguishable from the T-65B. As I suggested in "T-65" above, we should have a T-65 X-wing starfighter article like in Legends and short B and C-A2 ones for the known special identifications. 91.18.93.83 22:41, August 28, 2018 (UTC)
Oh, okay, thank you for responding. --Retro Reed (talk) 14:22, August 29, 2018 (UTC)

Appearances with Luke Skywalker in the Sequel Trilogy Edit

Should anything about Luke's exile go anywhere in this article? Like how he flew his X-wing without Artoo to Ahch-To, crash landed it on purpose in the water to leave himself stranded on the island, and cut himself from the force? --Retro Reed (talk) 22:36, August 28, 2018 (UTC)

  • If it isn't already there then feel free to add it --Lewisr (talk) 22:36, November 27, 2018 (UTC)
