Some of the additions from 222.152.183.152 are too close to the Databank entry, but not word for word in most places that I can spot. A scrub of this against the Databank would be nice. --SparqMan 13:51, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Add image?

The three pictures here only show the helmet area. Would it be possible to upload a more full body look? You know, just to get a better look at the armor, especially since there's a section on it in the article. - Lieutenant Caminus 07:38, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

Clear Helmet Image

Whenever I try to edit the clear helmet image away, or put a disclaimer there stating that it is not canon (the comic makers said it themselves), someone reverts my edits so that his version of the page is the only one to appear, and it clearly contaions some non-canon information. TIE pilots did not have clear helmets, and their visors did not slide up. I would appreciate it if someone helped me out with this.--CommanderGree117 13:16, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

  • Normally yes, but if the creators of the comic clearly state that its not, which they have, than it's not canon. Pick up a copy of the comic and you'll see that they say the only reason they put in the clear/slide up visors was so that we (the readers) could see the characters faces. --CommanderGree117 14:08, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
    • I have the comic, and I'm well aware why the faceplates were shown as they were. You might want to read the caption that we have here for the slid-up faceplate.       • I wrote the caption for the faceplate, and seeing as how they [the TIEs] have no life support, it makes absolutely no sense for any pilot to slide his faceplate up while in flight, if indeed they can slide up. --CommanderGree117 23:50, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

          • The faceplate is not the issue, I apologize if I was not clear. It's the clear helmet. No other source has shown a TIE pilot to have one, and then this source only uses one to establish character expression etc. I at least think that there should be a separate article for the "clear helmet", perhaps establishing it as a variant of the standard TIE armor, but whenever I make steps to remove the image from the regular article, and even improve it in other ways like adding more sources and appearances, you simply revert it back to "your" article, with the clear helmet being blatently displayed as canon, and less sources and appearances. --CommanderGree117 13:23, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
            • It is canon. And it's no "my article", as you call it. It's the version of the article that is simply more correct. Whether or not the Empire used those clear helmets, they were, in fact, used by TIE pilots. The helmet could simply be the Rebel Alliance's equivalent to the standard TIE helmet, but the fact is that TIE starfighters were used by the Rebel Alliance, which means those piloting them were still TIE pilots.               • Well, pilots with the ability to fly TIEs anyway. But you've convinced me, the image is canon. May I then offer up the suggestion that a distinction is made between the Rebel TIE Pilots and the Imperial TIE Pilots? Perhaps a notice that the helmet has only been seen on rebel pilots, making it Rebel TIE Armor? That Imperial pilots use faceless helmets, but the rebels stripped away the "mean face" and replaced it with a clear faceplate?                     • Well, you saw my version, and apparently edited it to a more concise form, but I still think it is important to note the fact that the clear faceplates were used exclusively by the rebellion. How about "Biggs Darklighter with a transparent face plate on a mission for the Rebellion. The rebels were occasionally known to modify TIE pilot armor to make the wearer less anonymous." Pilot

  • my friend said that in the tie fighter game (for ms-das) that in a cutscene right before u save the emperor, level 8 mission 5 or something like that, u see a pilot scrambling for a defender and he looked different than a normal tie pilot? can anyone back that up.--PyRo 14:36, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
