The Voidhound[]

  • Just finished this storyline, and learned of this new, more precise (nick)name. Any objections to moving? DD97Which bear is best? 05:09, August 6, 2012 (UTC)
    • You mean aside from the big old spoiler? 60.242.136.100 16:24, August 24, 2012 (UTC)
      • It's been eight months since the game came out. Our spoiler policy expired seven months ago. Cade Calrayn GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit 16:26, August 24, 2012 (UTC)
        • When are they called that?--Mike Gilbert 03:13, January 20, 2013 (UTC)
          • I don't understand this at all. Why are we making visitors guess which nickname we decided to give to the smuggler? I read two paragraphs before I even realized this article was about the SWTOR smuggler. 63.149.124.133 18:59, November 17, 2014 (UTC)

Hey should someone write a personality and Traits section.

When is the smuggler called the Voidhound in the game? I don't remember it from my playthrough. DarthEinstein (talk) 18:16, January 1, 2017 (UTC)

I think the page should be renamed into Captain (Individual) in my opinion. So we wouldn't confuse people when their looking up about the smuggler in the Old Republic Era in legends. Unsigned comment by OakularOregon66 (talk • contribs).

Rename this page and this character[]

I would like to start a new topic concerning this issue. The smuggler is only called "Voidhound" if you play the dark side version and task your fleet admirals at the end of chapter 3 to attack both the Republic and the Empire. That dialogue doesn't show up if you go with the light side version and let your fleet fight for the Republic. Having in mind that the smuggler is canonically light side and this page is about the light side version of the smuggler, it is just wrong to name him "Voidhound". • Thanks for bringing back this subject on the table. Just so we are clear, there is no definitive canon for SWTOR. Wookieepedia, per concensus vote, assume light side for Republic, the purpose is to make the article coherent (with BTS providing alternative information). There is some ground to contest the actual name page, I believe, but it not an easy answer. It was moved from Ace (Cold War) to Voidhound on August, 2012 by Dangerdan97, with very little research. In the base game, Voidhound is only used on one occasion, during the quest "The Final Score", the final Act III Smuggler quest. Here is the mission dialog tree on TORCommunity, with the specific line spoken by Trizz'mal in the final Dark Side cutscene (see node 105): "They're all talking about you out there, Captain. Calling you the Voidhound". Note that there is two other possible titles, "Bandit King" (not sure how to trigger it, but I guess it's related to Rogun) and "Republic's Shield". The latter was cut, as there is no mention of it anywhere in the live game or even in discussion related to SWTOR on the Internet (searching for "Republic's Shield" will only lead to Hoth SWTOR content), and it doesn't even fit at all the cutscene. For context, the Smuggler, after killing Harridax Kirill, is faced with a choice (dialog tree), with three possibility (see linked playthroughs): "Turn against the Empire." (Light Side) (node 9), "Piracy. The galaxy is ours!" (Dark Side) (node 10) and "I just want the money." (neutral) (node 8). Light Side and neutral choice leads to a Republic-oriented cutscene with Sumalee (dialog tree), only the Dark Side choice lead to the Voidhound line. Simple, right? Well, it would if it wasn't for Shadow of Revan. As I was tracking the word, I noticed it was used in the expansion, during the Smuggler quest "Tickets to Haven". Note that TORcommunity features the opening of this quest in several quests page. This is due to how the class quest on Rishi is interwoven into the main quest. In the live game, the following line can only be accessed by a Smuggler. The quest start as Beryl Thorne holo-contact the player (dialog tree), with the line "Well, if it isn't the Voidhound him/herself." (nodes 488/528) The line is followed by one of three variation of a comment on Port Nowhere (nodes 490/492/494). If someone follow a light side playthrough, he will trigger the line "You know there's a Republic representative to Port Nowhere, now? It's almost like you cleaned up the place." The video linked show that Voidhound name is used in a Light Side context. To conclude, ingame canon use Voidhound for SoR, so i guess we should keep the page with this title. --NanoLuukeCloning facility 12:41, 22 March 2021 (UTC)

Rename page from Voidhound to Captain (Individual)[]

I suggest renaming the page from Voidhound to Captain (Individual), it would be better since in the game the NPC's always call the Smuggler "Captain". Unsigned comment by OakularOregon66 (talk • contribs).

  • Voidhound is the most accurate name so it's long been what we keep the page title as. Fan26 (Talk) 17:15, 22 August 2023 (UTC)
    • Yeah, it's more accurate to refer to the character as the Voidhound since that's a specific title, whereas "captain" is aa common term for many, many individuals in the galaxy. OOM 224 (he/him) 17:19, 22 August 2023 (UTC)
