The Tarmidia system was a star system that was located within the Kailion sector, a part of the galactic regions known as the Expansion Region[1] and the Slice. By 3996 BBY, a hyperlane connected the system to the Gerhalt and Allanteen systems; however, the hyperspace route had ceased to exist by 3960 BBY.[2]

During the Great Sith War, waged in 3996 BBY between the Galactic Republic and the forces of the Sith sect, the Tarmidia system lay within the area that had been widely explored by the Republic and that was considered the "civilized galaxy."[2] The system was the origin point of the Old Tarmidian language.[3][4]

Behind the scenesEdit

The Tarmidia system was first mentioned in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, written by Jason Fry and Daniel Wallace, which placed the system in grid square O-13.[2]

Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas, stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. Given this principle, this article makes a similar basic assumption for Old Tarmidian in relation to the Tarmidia system.
