Tarsus Valorum was a politician who served as the first Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic after the fall of the Old Republic.
Biography[]
Tarsus Valorum was a member of House Valorum[1] who served as the first Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic, following the fall of the Old Republic, and the Galactic Republic's restructuring. The galaxy left a dark age under Valorum's rule, in which the Sith were defeated by the Jedi Order. While presiding as Chancellor, the Galactic Senate was created, and the military which previously existed had been disbanded. As a result of the new Republic's creation, the populations of the Core Worlds became eager to expand their reach into the Outer Rim Territories.[2]
Finis Valorum, the penultimate Supreme Chancellor of the Republic, was a direct descendant of Tarsus.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Tarsus Valorum was first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in the 2014 novel Tarkin, written by James Luceno, which identified him as the first Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic.[2] He was later identified as "Tarsus" in the 2019 reference book Rise of the Separatists.[1] The character of Tarsus Valorum originally appeared in the 2007 Star Wars Legends novel Darth Bane: Rule of Two, the second volume in the Star Wars: Darth Bane Trilogy by Drew Karpyshyn.[3]
