Rep Teers was a female Otolla Gungan, serving as a member of the Gungan High Council at the time of the Invasion of Naboo and the Clone Wars.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Teers was named after a local species of coral.[4] She was responsible for monitoring Otoh Gunga's power requirements, particularly those required to maintain its hydrostatic fields.[5] She communicated with the Gungan engineers who managed the locap roots that gave Otoh Gunga its power, making sure that the plant could handle the requirements of new additions to the city.[1] Teers guarded the ancient records of the Gungan culture and knew many secrets of existed long forgotten Gungan hideouts.
Dealings on Naboo[]
In 33 BBY, shortly after an incident at the Otoh Gunga Zoological Research Facility, Rep Teers left in the Rep heyblibber, forcing Rugor Nass, Jar Jar Binks and Commander Wollod to use a tribubble bongo. A seaquake endangered Teers’ heyblibber and his life. She was saved by Jar Jarwho came to rescue the heyblibber from a creature before finally arriving at a bubble in Lake Umberbool. Teers, Nass, Wollod, and Fassa were later found, but Captain Tarpals still took Jar Jar into custody.[6] Sometimes later, in the upcoming Festival of Warriors, Rep Teers called Nass and told him that droids have been sighted in the area. Nass said that subduing a droid would give the competitors bonus points.[7]
The Invasion of Naboo[]
In 32 BBY[8] she was present at the Council during the Invasion of Nabbo sitting to the left of Nass, in particular when they first met the Jedi Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi.[3] When the Gungans evacuated Otoh Gunga during the invasion, Rep Teers and fellow official Rep Been stayed close to Nass.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Teers made its first appearance in the novelization of Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace,[9] released on April 21, 1999,[10] where he was simply identified as one of the Gugan Council members.[9] It was first identified as Teers in the 1999 reference book Star Wars: Episode I The Visual Dictionary.[11] The 2012 reference book Star Wars: The Phantom Menace: The Expanded Visual Dictionary confirmed her[12] to be the the Gugan Representative sitting at the left of Rugor Nass.[3]
The computer-generated model of Rep Teers, like all the secondary Gungans, was designed using the model of Jar Jar Binks as a starting point.[1]
In LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game and LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga only two Gugan Representatives are shown alongside Rugor Nass in the cutscenes based on Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace.[13][14] This article assumes that the one on his left is meant to be Teers.
