Tempests were the largest divisions of the Nihil marauders. Three Tempests existed, each of which was led by one of the three Tempest Runners. At the time of the Great Disaster, these were Pan Eyta, Lourna Dee, and Kassav Milliko.[1] When Milliko and most of his Tempest died at the Battle of Kur,[1] leadership of the third Tempest passed to Zeetar.[2] Eyta was replaced by Kara Xoo when Pan deserted the Nihil at the Battle of Cyclor and was presumed dead by his former compatriots.[3]

Some Tempests that existed during the history of the Nihil included Pan Eyta's Tempest, Lourna Dee's Tempest, Kassav's Tempest, [1] Zeetar's Tempest,[2] Kara Xoo's Tempest,[3] and Xanaven's Tempest.[4] When Marchion Ro established the Nihil as a functioning governmental entity, he established the Ministry of Advancement, Ministry of Information, and Ministry of Protection, which he considered three new Tempest entities.[5]
