"…I ordered a phase connector several weeks ago."
"A phase connector?"
"A very hard to obtain part. Very expensive, very rare."
―Teroj Kee and Kazuda Xiono — 20?cb=20250116042720 ▶️ (file info)[2]

Teroj Kee was a Keteerian male who worked as a First Order operative. For several years, he pretended to work for the Mining Guild while trying to steal from the Office of Acquisitions on the supertanker fuel depot Colossus, but was thwarted by the store's owners, Flix and Orka. Eventually, when the store acquired a rare and expensive phase connector used for deep mining, Commander Pyre hired Kee to take it from the store. After monitoring comm chatter from the shop owners in order to determine when they would be away, Kee visited the store on a day in 34 ABY when they were away visiting Flix's mother. However, Kazuda Xiono, the mechanic the pair had left in charge of the Office of Acquisitions, refused to sell Kee the store's phase connector.

Kee instead placed another delivery order with the store, and when Xiono delivered it to loading dock 23, the First Order operative trapped him in the dock's storage container and left to steal the device. Despite a brief skirmish with Xiono's astromech droid BB-8, Kee successfully took the phase connector from the Office of Acquisitions' back room and brought it aboard his freighter. Xiono, along with Flix and Orka's pet gorg, Bitey, pursued him aboard the ship to try to take the device back. After Bitey bit through the freighter's electrical wiring, Kee's ship—and the phase connector—plunged into the planet Castilon's oceans, though Kee, Xiono, Bitey, and several stormtroopers safely fled via escape pods. Following the botched endeavor, Kee reported his failure to Pyre.

Biography[]

First Order operative[]

"That guy has been trying to steal from us for years."

The Keteerian[1] male Teroj Kee lived by the time of the Cold War between the Resistance and the First Order. At some point, he began working for the First Order as one of their operatives,[2] reporting to Commander Pyre.[3] For several years, Kee posed as a member of the Mining Guild and tried to steal from the Office of Acquisitions—headquartered on[2] the Mid Rim planet[4] Castilon's supertanker fuel depot Colossus. During this time, the Office of Acquisitions' owners, Flix and Orka, eventually acquired a phase connector—a powerful, specialized deep mining tool.[2]

While working for the First Order, Pyre instructed Teroj Kee to steal a phase connector (pictured).

Upon learning that the device was there, Pyre hired Kee to forcibly take the device[3] from the pair for a sum of money, though Flix and Orka refused to sell it to Kee due to his past attempts to steal from them. The merchants instead kept the phase connector on a hoversled in the back room of their establishment before eventually selling it to a mining colony on the terrestrial astronomical object Valashar. Unwilling to cede, the operative began monitoring their comlink chatter and planned to take the phase connector on a day that Flix and Orka planned to close the store and visit the former's mother.[2]

Meeting a mechanic[]

"Welcome to Acquisitions."
"Welcome? Welcome! I thought you were closed today!"
"Um…no. Isn't that a good thing?"
"Who are you, anyway? You don't look like Flix or Orka!"

Teroj Kee was furious with Kazuda Xiono when the latter refused to sell him the Office of Acquisitions' phase connector.

One day[2] in 34 ABY,[5] however, the pair left the Office of Acquisitions in the care of the mechanic Kazuda Xiono while they were away visiting Flix's mother, not leaving the store unattended like Kee had anticipated. Surprised to see the store open, Kee claimed to Xiono that he was part of the Mining Guild and had ordered a phase connector from the Office of Acquisitions several weeks before, telling the mechanic about the rare and expensive item's qualities.[2]

Using a datapad, Xiono checked the business's orders and saw there were no orders for Kee, informing him that the store only had an already-sold phase connector in its back room. After confirming the device was present in the store, the First Order operative pushed Xiono to sell it to him and repeatedly reiterated his demands. However, Xiono calmly refused, insisting the phase connector had already been spoken for. Flix and Orka's pet gorgBitey—painfully bit the First Order operative as he began to make an offer on the phase connector, causing him to curse at the creature. Thinking quickly, Kee opted to try to convince Xiono to leave his post managing the shop so that the device was left unguarded, which would allow the Keteerian to steal it. The operative then ordered several items from the store's available merchandise, which the shop assistant gathered and went to deliver to him at loading dock 23 in the Colossus's loading docks.[2]

Stolen goods[]

"Careful there. Wouldn't want you to get hurt. Yet."
"Look, I don't have any credits. Flix and Orka don't pay me. My real job barely pays me. I'm just doing this as a favor."
"Mm-hmm, mm-hmm, uh-huh. Well, it's nothing personal, kid. It's just business."

Teroj Kee trapped Kazuda Xiono in loading dock 23 so he could steal the Office of Acquisitions' phase connector.

While Xiono was out of the store, he left his astromech droid, BB-8, to watch the establishment for him. Kee then held the mechanic at blaster-point in the loading dock, closing one side of the storage container. Unflinchingly, he ignored Xiono's pleas that he did not have any credits to give him. The First Order operative then trapped Xiono in the loading dock's storage locker, reflecting to the latter that he had nothing personal against him, as he was only conducting business.[2]

Kee then instructed the Rodian dock worker Glem to dispose of the materials left in loading dock 23, intending to have Xiono removed from the Colossus so he could steal the Office of Acquisitions' phase connector. While trapped in the storage container, Xiono informed BB-8 of what had occurred, warning[2] him[6] about Kee. With the mechanic out of the way, the Keteerian broke into the Office of Acquisitions' locked storeroom by using his blaster to fry its door controls. Kee expressed glee upon finding the phase connector, which would make him rich if delivered successfully, and used its hoversled to move it.[2]

Droid duel and takeoff[]

TerojKeeBB8-DangerousBusiness

BB-8 attempted to prevent Teroj Kee from leaving the Office of Aquisitions, though ultimately failed.

To prevent Kee from leaving, BB-8 used a shocker to hit him. Angered, Kee expressed that the attack had hurt and aimed his blaster at the droid, who in response threw several cans of Premium Deluxe D90 Droid Oil at him. The pair then chased each other around the store several times, with BB-8 swinging from the ceiling to hit the First Order operative in the stomach. Eventually, Kee dropped a heavy shelf on top of BB-8 and left the store with the stolen phase connector to go to his starship, a Darius G-class freighter. Afterward, BB-8 informed Xiono—who was still trapped in loading dock 23—of what had happened.[2]

Meanwhile, Bitey stowed away on the phase connector's hoversled, unnoticed by Kee. After escaping from the loading dock, Xiono pursued Kee onto his ship as the thief pushed the stolen phase connector aboard and left it amongst other cargo containers. After boarding the vessel, the mechanic approached the device but quickly hid himself, realizing that First Order stormtroopers were also on the freighter. Kee reentered the room accompanied by stormtroopers and had them prepare for the ship's launch, as they had acquired what they came for. Panicking, Xiono then started plotting ways to prevent the vessel from leaving the Colossus, hoping to reacquire the device for Flix and Orka from the thief.[2]

Plunged into the seas[]

"Commander Pyre. I failed to secure the phase connector. My mission was sabotaged, and the goods were destroyed."
"That is unfortunate. Captain Phasma will not be pleased. Report back at once."

As their freighter began to crash, Teroj Kee and two stormtroopers attempted to keep the phase connector stable.

As the ship departed the Colossus, Xiono tricked Bitey into biting through a wire that sabotaged the ship's electrical systems. Kee and two stormtroopers heard the commotion caused by the electrical malfunction and rushed toward Bitey, with the former shouting at the gorg to stay away from the ship's wires. However, Bitey only bit down harder, causing an explosion on the ship that sent the vessel listing sideways.[2]

After regaining his balance, Kee aimed several blaster shots at the gorg and missed, before eventually striking the creature and causing it to fall off a high ledge. As the ship's engines gave out, Kee and two stormtroopers hurried to the phase connector and attempted to stabilize it. However, they soon lost their balance as their freighter shuddered and plunged toward Castilon's ocean, realizing the effort was futile. Xiono, Bitey, Kee, and the stormtroopers fled the ship via escape pods, leaving the phase connector to plunge into the sea.[2]

TerojKeeReport-DangerousBusiness

Teroj Kee reported the failure of his mission to Pyre.

Afterward, Kee informed Pyre of the endeavor's outcome, insisting that his mission had been sabotaged, which resulted in the destruction of the phase connector. Pyre relayed that Captain Phasma would be displeased and instructed him to report back immediately, prompting Kee to sigh defeatedly. Meanwhile, Xiono explained to Flix and Orka that Kee had attempted to steal their phase connector. Although initially furious, Orka was impressed that Xiono brought down an entire ship rather than allow a thief to abscond with their merchandise. After leaving the Office of Acquisitions, Xiono informed BB-8 that he would send a message to[2] the Resistance pilot[6] Poe Dameron, informing[2] him[6] that the First Order was seeking a phase connector so he could notify the Resistance's General Leia Organa.[2]

Personality and traits[]

"We have a phase connector, but it's in the back room and has already been sold to a mining colony on Valashar."
"But you have one, yes?"
"As I said sir, it's not for sale."
"It's in the back, is it not? Maybe I could offer…"

Teroj Kee was willing to attack those who got in the way of his objectives.

While working as a First Order operative, Kee was willing to engage in deception, repeatedly lying to Xiono to achieve his goals. When told no, Kee was persistent in insisting that Xiono sell him the Office of Acquisitions' phase connector despite it being unavailable. After other avenues of persuasion failed him, Kee was willing to drown Xiono in a cargo container by tricking him into delivering an order there.[2]

The Keteerian was motivated by greed, having wanted to obtain the phase connector on the Colossus due to its value. He found great satisfaction in beating BB-8 by trapping him under a shelf, as he was able to flee with his stolen item successfully afterward. Kee was extremely annoyed by Bitey interacting with him, especially after the gorg derailed his ship's attempt to flee the Colossus with the phase connector. Kee had black eyes and light orange skin. His skin had slightly darker markings on his face and on the lower part of his arm.[2]

Skills and abilities[]

Kee was an accomplished thief who could wield a blaster pistol. As an operative, he was able to conduct a stakeout of Flix and Orka's Office of Acquisitions to determine when they would be away from their store so that he could try to steal their phase connector while they were not present. The Keteerian was physically fit, able to engage in unarmed combat and move heavy objects, such as the metal shelf he trapped BB-8 under.[2]

While on the Colossus posing as a representative of the Mining Guild, Kee wore a paneled green outfit paired with a tan vest bearing the organization's emblem. The jumpsuit's sleeves and several of the ports on its chest were made of silver-colored metal. The Keteerian also donned a black belt, black fingerless gloves, and black boots. Kee owned a blue-and-gray blaster, which he used to shoot at several individuals and to open the Office of Acquisitions' vault. He also utilized a Darius G-class freighter equipped with escape pods to try to leave the Colossus.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

TerojKee-ConceptArt

Concept design of Teroj Kee by Amy Beth Christenson

Teroj Kee first appeared in "Dangerous Business,"[2] the thirteenth episode of the first season of the animated television series Star Wars Resistance,[7] which aired on January 20, 2019.[8] Prior to the episode's release, he appeared unidentified in an extended sneak peek for the season released on the official Star Wars YouTube channel on September 27, 2018.[9] In "Dangerous Business," Kee was voiced by John Ennis.[2] Star Wars Resistance's art director[10] Amy Beth Christenson made a concept illustration of the character on July 6, 2017,[11] while Lucasfilm Animation artist Aaron Pham created another concept art piece for his blaster on June 27 of the same year.[12]

The writer of "Dangerous Business," Eugene Son, was particularly excited to write for a character—Teroj Kee—who was working for the First Order, as it had been his first time writing a First Order character. An early version of the script had Xiono, Flix, and Orka find Kee's money disc at the end of the episode, thus allowing them to charge the loss of the theft connector to it. However, ultimately, Son and others decided it was more funny if Xiono had to work off his debt, despite doing the businessowners a favor. The scene in which Kee tried to have Xiono dropped into the ocean via a container was conceptualized by the series' showrunner Brandon Auman. While they did not wish to portray Kee as overtly violent onscreen due to Star Wars Resistance's intended audience, they also wished for his harsh actions in that scene to show that aspect of his personality. Son noted that his favorite scene from "Dangerous Business" was when Kee, Xiono, and the others aboard the freighter fled via escape pods, noting that he was proud of that action sequence.[13]
