- "You got ahh, let’s see. Jogan fruit brandy?"
"Kind of a fancy place you think this is? I got ale. More ale. Other ale. Different ale. Grog. And Starfire ’skee." - ―Sinjir Rath Velus and the Alcazar's bartender
The Alcazar,[1] or Alkazar,[2] was a cantina located in the planet Akiva's capital Myrra that served as the headquarters for the Sullustan crime lord Surat Nuat's gang by 4 ABY. He imprisoned several of his foes including Jas Emari, Sinjir Rath Velus, and Temmin Wexley there. The Alcazar was damaged when the three prisoners escaped with the help of the modified B1-series battle droid Mister Bones.[1]
Description[]
Main area[]

The interior of The Alcazar
The Alcazar was a cantina located in Myrra, the capital of Akiva, that was popular with the locals. The main area had an elevated stage for musicians to play and a long black bar carved out of dead lacquered driftwood. The bar only served a select few drinks including ale, grog and Starfire 'skee.[1]
The Alcazar was also a gambling house that played host to games such as pazaak, Kessel Wheel and rolling sheg-knuckles and provided other services for those who preferred to play games such as the One-Armed Smuggler.[1]
Aside from the main entrance, the cantina also had a side door which the locals named the 'shame door'. This was used for those who had consumed too much starfire 'skee, wanted to leave with a new friend or were ushered out by Surat Nuat's enforcers. The crime lord used the side door for this to avoid intimidating anyone from coming in and spending their credits there. Nuat always ensured the door was guarded and kept locked.[1]
Upon locating the cantina for the first time, former Imperial Loyalty officer Sinjir Rath Velus surmised the venue was probably also a slaver market and black market compound.[1]
Surat Nuat's complex[]
Beneath the cantina was Nuat's base of operations on the planet and prison complex.[1]
Nuat's office had red walls lined with manacles and a desk whose surface was the body of his brother, Rutar, who he had frozen in carbonite. The crime lord used the space sparingly, only having a blaster, a collection of quills in a cup, a bottle of ink, and a tall black cabinet sealed tight with a maglock in the room.[1]
Nuat would keep his prisoners in small, rusted iron cages that hung over a long, dark, and wet chasm by a thick, heavy gauge chain. The dungeon had seven cages for which to keep prisoners.[1]
History[]
In 4 ABY, Rath Velus entered the establishment with the Twi'lek Orgadomo Dokura to set up a meeting with Surat Nuat to negotiate safe passage off-planet. He paid ten credits for the pair's drinks, before parting with another hundred credits for information from the bartender on how to meet Nuat. Just after he paid the credits, Nuat walked in and was flanked by a pack of guards. In his custody was the Zabrak bounty hunter Jas Emari, whom he planned to sell to the Empire. Rath Velus recognized Emari from an encounter during the Battle of Endor and offered to buy her from the crime lord while posing as an Imperial. After Nuat told Rath Velus that he had not informed the Empire that he had Emari in his possession, he ordered his guards to kill the ex-Imperial. During the ensuing chaos, Dokura was killed and Rath Velus was knocked unconscious by the bartender and taken by Nuat's thugs where he was imprisoned in one of the dungeon's cages, along with Emari.[1]
The same night, Temmin Wexley had been brought to Nuat's office under the cantina after it had been identified he had stolen a weapon from the crime lord. After Wexley pleaded with Nuat to be freed, the youngster was taken by Nuat's Herglic enforcer Gor-kooda to the facilities cistern where Nuat intended to cut out the boy’s tongue.[1]
After Emari escaped her cage, she freed Rath Velus and the pair looked to leave the compound. However, Rath Velus decided to save Wexley, believing he could be useful for repairs. They overpowered Gor-kooda, who had Wexley by the wrists, and made their way to the bar area, where they were quickly spotted by an Ithorian guard. A short blaster fight ensued before the trio were able to escape through the damaged side door and away from the cantina.[1]
