Plot summary[]
On the moon[3] of Endor, Mon Mothma, one of the leaders of the Alliance to Restore the Republic, gives a speech before hundreds of members of the Alliance approximately a week after the Battle of Endor. In it, she announces that they must create a New Republic, but it would be foolish to do so immediately, because they need time to prepare. Instead, because they are no longer strictly rebels, they need a new statement of principles. She presents the Declaration of the Alliance of Free Planets and asks those present to sign it, forming the Alliance of Free Planets.
