"The Breath of Gelgelar" is a short story written by Jean Rabe with illustrations by Brian Schomburg, originally published in Star Wars Adventure Journal 14 by West End Games in August 1997, and has since been released online at Hyperspace.
Plot summary[]
T'laerean, a young Sullustan Force Adept, has the ability to experience the senses of a wild reeho bird and occupy its mind as a “passenger”, but he cannot break the Force connection without coming into physical contact with the bird. Thus, when the bird is captured, T'laerean begins to panic. The bird dies at the claws of a predator, and T'laerean nearly dies himself but is eased back into consciousness by his mentor, the Wise Man of Kooroo.
