Plot summary

"I need you to depart for Rodia immediately."
"Rodia?"
"You are to oversee the transfer of Nute Gunray."
―Skywalker gives Tano her assignment to Rodia[src]

Jedi General Anakin Skywalker and Clone Captain CT-7567 are stationed on a planet during the Clone Wars—the conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. During a battle on the planet, a clone trooper sergeant tells Skywalker that they have successfully made contact with the Outer Rim planet Rodia. Before leaving, Skywalker orders CT-7567 to keep firing the Republic's heavy cannons at the enemy. Skywalker contacts Senator Padmé Amidala via the hologram, and learns that she has captured Trade Federation Viceroy Nute Gunray. He advises her that she must be careful with Gunray. However, before Amidala finishes talking to Skywalker, her hologram connection cuts off. Shocked, Skywalker asks the clone trooper sergeant what happened.

The Clone Sergeant reveals to Skywalker that there is too much interference from enemy artillery. Eventually, Skywalker tells his Padawan, Ahsoka Tano, that she will go to Rodia and oversee the transfer of Gunray to Coruscant for trial. At first, Tano shows less enthusiasm with her new assignment and wants to stay with Skywalker to help him cut through enemy lines, but Skywalker tells his Padawan that she must protect Amidala and make sure she is safe. A Nu-class attack shuttle soon arrives and departs the planet with Tano on board. Grand Master Yoda and Jedi Master Mace Windu contact Tano via hologram and explain to her that Skywalker has given her the assignment without the Jedi Council's approval. Though Tano tells the Jedi Masters that Skywalker felt that her given assignment was important, Windu then reveals that Master Luminara Unduli has already been assigned to oversee the transfer of Gunray.

Tano defends her Master's orders and tells Yoda and Windu that she is less than three parsecs away from Rodia. Yoda agrees and lets Tano continue with her assignment to Rodia. Tano soon docks with Unduli's Consular-class cruiser, which is orbiting Rodia, and upon meeting Tano, Unduli expresses her belief that she does not need a Padawan for the assignment. However, Tano explains to Unduli that she is following Skywalker's orders. Meanwhile, Amidala is contacted on Rodia by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, who tells Amidala that Senate Commandos, led by Captain Faro Argyus, will secure the transfer of Gunray.

"The Clone Wars: Transfer" is a six-page webcomic in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars webcomic series, which ties into the television series of the same name.[2] "Transfer" leads directly into "Cloak of Darkness", an episode in the first season of The Clone Wars television series, which aired on December 5, 2008. "Transfer" shows how Ahsoka Tano was grouped with Luminara Unduli as well as the securing of the captured Nute Gunray by Captain Argyus; both plot elements would later be expanded upon in "Cloak of Darkness."[6] In the comic, an easter egg—the word "Wampa"—is shown in Aurebesh near Skywalker and the clone sergeant.[2]

The comic was written by Pablo Hidalgo and lettered by Grant Gould, with art drawn by Katie Cook. Special thanks were also given to Leland Chee, Sue Rostoni, and Dave Filoni.[2] "Transfer" was posted on StarWars.com on December 4, 2008.[3]
