"The Grand Army of the Republic" is a volume in the Star Wars Encyclopedia series of reference books published by De Agostini. It was published on March 25, 2022.[2]
Publisher's summary[]
The secret order to Kamino's genetic engineers to create a clone army based on the model of bounty hunter Jango Fett provided the Republic with an armed force to face the droid hordes of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. But although they were programmed to have identical personalities and were all fitted with an inhibitor chip that would be activated when Palpatine launched Order 66, many of these clone troopers went on to develop distinct characters and, in some very specific cases, even managed to get rid of their chips. As a result, these soldiers did not turn against the Jedi Generals they had served during the Clone Wars. Some of them even formed independent groups that literally fought the war on their own behalf.[2]
