Publisher's summary[]

The Jedi reluctantly team up with the nefarious Lourna Dee in this full script for the Star Wars the High Republic audiobook original, Tempest Breaker.

Lourna Dee is not a villain. She's not a hero. She's a survivor. The former Tempest Runner, wanted by both her Nihil allies and the Republic, has evaded imprisonment and death from both groups more times than she can count. But even Lourna cannot outrun the mysterious blight that devours everything wherever it appears. And Marchion Ro, the Eye of the Nihil, has announced that only he knows the secret to stopping it.

Desperate, the Republic and Jedi turn to Lourna with an offer: help the Jedi stop the blight, and in return, Lourna will have a clean slate and the chance to decide her own future. Teamed with Avar Kriss and Keeve Trennis, the same Jedi who once hunted her, Lourna leads the search for the Nihil's chief scientist, Baron Boolan, the only being who may have answers to the mystery of the blight, as well as Marchion Ro's true plans.

Lourna weighs the Republic's offer of true freedom against her own instincts for survival as her team heads deeper into Nihil territory, straight toward the very dangers Lourna has worked for so long to elude. And when the opportunity arises to face off against Marchion Ro himself, even Lourna Dee may be willing to sacrifice everything to fulfill a quest for revenge.

Opening crawl[]

Star Wars: The High Republic
Tempest Breaker
The galaxy is in turmoil. A year after the destruction of Star-
light Beacon, the Nihil Stormwall has cut off a vast swath of
the Republic, the civilizations within the Occlusion Zone at
the mercy of Marchion Ro and his Nihil hordes.

With the Jedi unable to stand against Ro's Nameless, a foe that
feeds on the Force itself, a new danger has inexplicably ap-
peared through Nihil and Republic space alike: an unstoppable
blight that is turning people and planets into stone. The race is
on to find a way to halt its dreadful progress, a solution that
Marchion Ro has promised to deliver.

As the various crises continue, Holo reporter and war correspond-
ent Rhil Dairo has secured an interview with one of the only
people in the galaxy who can claim to know what the murder-
ous Eye of the Nihil has in store…

  4. Star Wars: Timelines dates Starlight Beacon's destruction to 230 BBY. The implementation of the Guardian Protocols, which Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia places in 229 BBY, took place one week after Starlight Beacon's fall according to The High Republic – Shadows of Starlight 1. As The High Republic Adventures (2023) 4 takes place one year and two weeks after the destruction of Starlight Beacon, it must be set in 228 BBY. Since the events of The High Republic Adventures (2023) 6 are set immediately following the fourth issue and depict the expansion of the Stormwall, the expansion must have taken place in the same year. Meanwhile, the events of "Tales from the Occlusion Zone: No Big Deal" include the Stormwall's expansion and also depict the start of Pikka Adren's pregnancy. A later story, "Tales from the Occlusion Zone: Sparks Fly," states that Adren is eight months pregnant during its events, indicating that it is set eight months after "No Big Deal," and therefore one year, eight months, and two weeks after the fall of Starlight Beacon. "Sparks Fly" is set during the Battle of Eriadu, an event that begins in The High Republic Adventures Phase III - The Wedding Spectacular. As StarWars.com Star Wars: The High Republic Chronological Reader's Guide on StarWars.com (article) (backup link) places The High Republic: Tempest Breaker between the events of "No Big Deal" and The Wedding Spectacular, its events must also be set in 228 BBY.
