Publisher's summary [ ] The Confederacy of Independent Systems was born out of Darth Sidious' masterful plan to bring down the Republic. The organization's members were unaware of this and often had different goals. This motley alliance included wealth-hungry economic organizations, factions that had opposed the Republic since the dawn of time, and peoples for whom rebellion was simply a way to improve their lives. The leaders of these disparate groups eventually governed a heterogeneous yet powerful confederacy that at times greatly weakened the Republic during the Clone Wars. However, as Darth Sidious predicted, this union had to end before the Republic could be overthrown. [1]
