The Theed Royal Academy,[2] also referred to as simply the Royal Academy, was a celebrated learning institution in Theed, the capital of the Naboo culture on the planet Naboo. Gifted children trained there to become public servants,[3] including important young leaders who were groomed for their roles.[4] This included future queen Padmé Amidala, who was groomed to become a leader by government tutors while a student at the academy.[1]
The structure included a building with a rectangular floorplan that had tan walls and a flat turquoise roof with a small central dome, in keeping with the architectural style of the rest of the city.[1] The academy also include a library, although it was not as comprehensive as the library at the Theed Royal Palace.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
In the current Star Wars canon, the Royal Academy was first mentioned in "Theed: Naboo's Capital City," an article in the "Guide to the Galaxy" department of the twenty fourth issue of De Agostini's Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon magazine,[4] which was released on around June 17, 2015[5] It was then pictured in canon in the 2016 reference book Star Wars: Complete Locations as part of material reprinted[1] from the 2000 reference book Inside the Worlds of Star Wars: Episode I, which was written by Kristin Lund, illustrated by Richard Chasemore and Hans Jenssen, and marked the first mention of the academy in the Star Wars Legends continuity.[6] The full name of Theed Royal Academy was introduced in "Naboo," part of Altaya's line of Star Wars Encyclopedias[2] was released on October 16, 2020.[7]
