Theocracy was a system of government run by religious leaders and based on religious fundamentals. The planet Nazzri, home to the Nazzar species, was ruled by a theocratic oligarchy during the time leading up to the Great Sith War. The Yuuzhan Vong empire was a theocracy.
Those involved in the Anti-Sith conspiracy saw the Galactic Empire as a Sith theocracy beneath Palpatine and Darth Vader. Later, during Operation Shadow Hand, the cloned Palpatine intended to turn the Empire into a dark-side theocracy in fact.
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
Theocracy means "rule of god" and in reality it is based on "God's Will" as interpreted by the ruling religion or leader. Since most theocratic systems of the galaxy, such as the Sith, are not based on a deity but on the Force, theocracy here applies to the organizations and the leaders themselves.
