"I remember. What have I done? I... I can't stop myself... this thing inside me... you must kill this thing that I have become. Quickly! I'll hold back as much as I can."
―Thestriel Kymeri[1]

Thestriel Kymeri, who later assumed the name of Voidsister Spellweaver, was a Dathomirian Witch who lived during the Galactic Civil War.

Biography[]

Sometime following the Battle of Yavin in 0 ABY, she was a member of the Howling Crag Clan, which was headed by the clan mother Amaya Kymeri. During the outbreak of the blackwing virus, Thestriel Kymeri became infected along with many members of the clan, and in an attempt to contain the outbreak, the Galactic Empire killed most of the clan. However, Kymeri, along with two of her sisters, Naija Kymeri and Denkra Kymeri, formed the Sisters of the Void, used spells to fight off the contagion, and took on new names, Thestriel's being Voidsister Spellweaver. Gradually, they began to lose the battle, and eventually, the Force ghost of Amaya Kymeri sent a spacer to kill the three sisters.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Thestriel Kymeri appeared as a non-player character in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[4] Thestriel Kymeri was added to the game with the "Game Update 19," released on December 14, 2010.[5]

  2. The opening crawl of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided dates the game to after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and additionally, Serji-X Arrogantus, who died in Star Wars (1977) 10—the events of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 0 ABY—appears in the game. Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
  3.
