The Thirteenth Army, also known as Iron Lance Command, was a Republic and later Imperial Sector Army charged with the defense of the Trans-Nebular Oversector.[1]
During the Clone Wars, the 13th Sector Army had been given a sprawling theater of operations, in large part due to its responsibilities included the core territories of the Hutts. The core territories had few Republic forces deployed there, save for the Toydaria base. The 13th Sector Army defended Kamino against repeated Separatist attacks, as well as held the line against the Separatist attempt to cut off the Republic's Rimward forces at Christophsis. It was also backed up by both the 4th Sector Army and the 14th Sector Army repeatedly.[1]
