The Thunderflare was an Imperial II-class Star Destroyer in service in the Imperial Navy during the Galactic Civil War.
History[]
Its weaponry was more powerful than that of other Star Destroyers because energy from the ship's hyperdrive was transferred to its weapon systems. Sometime before the Battle of Yavin, Thunderflare was a common placement for junior officers due to its role as a Core Worlds patrol ship.[4]
Khurgee served aboard the Thunderflare, where he was honored for bravery after rescuing five officers from a shuttle crash. He was later assigned to the first Death Star as a docking-bay security officer.[6]
During the Galactic Civil War, the ship was commanded by Captain Tanda Pryl and was detached to Moff Villis Andal's fleet that patrolled the Elrood sector.[3] Thunderflare's patrols were restricted to the Derilyn system.
In 4 ABY, the Thunderflare was assigned to the defense of Death Star II's construction. It later fought at the Battle of Endor.[1] As part of Death Squadron, the ship survived the battle. Captain Pryl refused to obey the new fleet commander, Gilad Pellaeon, and decided to return to the Elrood sector with her ship.[5]
