"There's no war here, unless you brought it with you."
―Tion Medon, to Obi-Wan Kenobi[src]

Tion Medon was a male Pau'an and the Port Administrator of Pau City on Utapau during the Clone Wars.

Biography

Tion Medon was a Pau'an who lived on the planet Utapau, and served as the Port Administrator of Pau City.[2] He typically welcomed guests to the sinkhole spaceport and offered them his services.[1]

In the final weeks of the Clone Wars, Medon was forced to accommodate General Grievous and his associates from the Confederacy of Independent Systems in his sanctuary. Members of the Separatist Council used the city as their base of operations around the time following the Battle of Coruscant. Sometime later, Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi arrived on Utapau in search of Grievous. Medon welcomed Kenobi to the spaceport, and discreetly divulged helpful information pertaining to the Separatist presence on the tenth level. Kenobi advised the administrator to help his people find shelter, and to bring the city's warriors to bear on the Separatists. The Jedi was able to seek and destroy Grievous with Medon's help.[4]

Physical appearance and traits

"Greetings, young Jedi. What brings you to our remote sanctuary?"
―Tion Medon, to Obi-Wan Kenobi[src]

Like other Pau'ans, Tion Medon was a tall, gaunt[2] humanoid with lined, gray-skin and thin bodies. Their appearance could be intimidating, with jagged teeth and nails, and dark, red-rimmed eyes.[5] Standing at over two meters in height,[2] Medon was nonetheless a helpful and gracious individual, welcoming guests to his homeworld[1] and running Utapau's government alongside other members of his species.[5]

Behind the scenes

Tion Medon was portrayed by Bruce Spence in the 2005 film Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith.[4]

Initially, it was undecided how Medon was to be realized onscreen–whether a practical makeup effect or a computer-generated character. The Utapauns were ultimately created using both methods, but Medon was designed to be a flesh-and-blood performer wearing makeup, with Spence playing him.[6]
