The second moon was home to a Rebel Alliance outpost during the Galactic Civil War, a large conflict between the Alliance and the Galactic Empire. At some point during the conflict, the base personnel became infected with the Direllian Plague, a fatal disease that could only be cured with the administration of Shiarha Root, a rare plant found on the world of Kirtania.[2] In 4 ABY, Tiragga was within the Oversector Outer, an Imperial region of the Outer Rim. Four years later, it fell within the territory of the Imperial Remnant, and a year later, it was included in the domain of Thrawn's confederation.[3]

Behind the scenes

Tiragga was first mentioned briefly in the 1994 roleplaying game adventure The Quality of Mercy, written by Nicky Rea and later published within the first issue of the Star Wars Adventure Journal. In the adventure, players journey to Kirtania in an attempt to acquire a cure for the Direllian Plague that is killing the Rebel base's personnel. The planet received entries in 1998's Star Wars Encyclopedia, and in its second edition, which was published ten years later.
