Toom was an engineer aboard the freighter Dromedar. During the rule of the Galactic Empire, Nevil Cygni suggested it was Toom who locked the hyperdrive aboard the vessel to prevent pirates accessing it and stealing the ship. This proved to be false, with Cygni and his crew being the pirates themselves.[1]
