"Tooqui not friendly! Tooqui most fierce ferocious slayer of all Gwurran enemies!"
―Tooqui to Barriss Offee[1]

Tooqui was a male Gwurran (an Ansionian pygmy) who attempted to steal Jedi Barriss Offee's provisional food while she and her companions were on a mission to prevent the planet Ansion's secession from the Galactic Republic in 22 BBY, before the Clone Wars.

Biography[]

"Tooqui take care of self! You see see. Tooqui not afraid of danger. Tooqui eat danger for morning meal! Make good pet, too. Why not? Gwurran keep small yirans and sometimes omohts as pets. They get free food, free living space, protection from shanhs and other things that want eat them. Seem seem like pretty good deal to me. If I intelligent like you say, then not I smart enough to choose what I want to be? If I intelligent enough to choose for myself, then where be improperness? That intelligent Tooqui's choice: I want want go with you new friends as pet. Learn about Ansion world-ball. Maybe other world-balls, too. Learn much, then come back and help Gwurran."
―Tooqui, states case to Luminara Unduli of why the Jedi should take him with them on their quest[1]

Eager to learn of life outside of his modest home in the hills with the Gwurran, Tooqui, with the help of Offee (and his reference to worm suckers), convinced Jedi Master Luminara Unduli to allow him to accompany the Jedi on their journey, so that he might afterward educate his fellow Gwurran on all that he had learned about the wider world in his travels with them.

The self-professed brave (yet endearing) Tooqui, because his aims were recognized, in part, as being noble, was therefore permitted to join the "outlander" group of Jedi Unduli, Offee, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and their Alwari guides Kyakhta and Bulgan, on their quest to find the Alwari overclan, the Borokii, in the Ansion plains.

Tooqui later managed to free his companions after they had been captured by the non-traditional trading clan, the Qulun, by inciting a herd of lorqual to stampede and wreak havoc on a camp where his comrades were being held captive.

Tooqui was (like the Gwurran generally) looked down upon because of his size by the Alwari.
