The tractor rifle was a type of rifle that was capable of projecting a tractor beam, and pulling an object such as a lightsaber. After the report of an individual using the Force to escape from a bar fight, the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader traveled to a bar on Cabarria in the Colonies region. Shortly after he entered the bar, Vader was attacked by a family of bounty hunters. Chanath Cha, the family's daughter, attempted to pull Vader's lightsaber using her tractor rifle. Although it was stopped by Vader in mid-air thanks to his Force abilities, the weapon eventually snapped in half and its red kyber crystal fell to the ground.[1]

The tractor rifle first appeared in the canon comic book Darth Vader (2017) 11,[1] written by Charles Soule with art by Giuseppe Camuncoli, and released by Marvel Comics on February 14, 2018.[2]
