- "But now it's a reminder that the Jedi went extinct because they focused on the wrong kind of power. The Banking Clan, however, wages war of a more subtle kind."
"Is that supposed to be an appropriate analogy? The odds of surviving a war with the Hutts for access to their smuggling routes is 23,5554 to—"
"Ah, my cybernetically enhanced friend, that's where you come in. To recalculate those odds." - ―Vice Chairman Anolo and a Givin codebreaker while standing near Ki-Adi-Mundi's lightsaber
The trade wars were a series of economic struggles between the InterGalactic Banking Clan and Hutt Clan during the Imperial Era. During the trade wars, Vice Chairman Anolo hired a Givin codebreaker to help in an effort to take over Hutt smuggling routes. However, Hutt crime lord Jabba Desilijic Tiure learned of the Givin and sought to use the codebreaker for his own operations, so he dispatched bounty hunter Greedo to capture the Givin. Such an action would have altered the course of the trade wars, but the Rodian bounty hunter failed in his mission; after killing Anolo and while trying to escape Muun guards, he overestimated how strong a grabbing line was. The codebreaker fell and died, which angered Jabba, as he believed he could have made billions of credits in smuggling with the Givin.[2]
