"I hire you because you're one of the best hunters in the Outer Rim, then I tell you that someone broke into my private vaults and stole one of the last EML-850s in the galaxy. And you assumed she was working alone?"
―Sliro Barsha, to Vail Tormin[2]

The Trailblazer was a refined EML-850 light freighter from the Republic Era. The ship was one of the last of its kind and was a prototype from the Clone Wars.

History[]

"ND-5? What's this?"
" A holotracker. Used to belong to Jet Kordo, the former owner of the Trailblazer."
" I thought Sliro owned the Trailblazer."
" You're not the first to steal this ship, Kay.
"
―Kay Vess and ND-5[2]

Kay Vess flew the Trailblazer to travel the galaxy together with her crew.

The EML-850 light freighter was designed and produced by the Barsha family of Corellian industrialists during the Republic Era. It was designed to be equally well-armored and cargo-capable, making it ideal for smugglers and other criminals, but its high cost resulted in mass production being abandoned in favor of other models. The freighters were scrapped with the exception of the Trailblazer, which was used by Sliro Barsha as his personal starship. The Trailblazer would then be stolen twice by Jet Kordo and Kay Vess.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

"It was very interesting to take the exterior as a base and to fit everything we wanted into it. Lots of thought on how it was modified and how it became a sort of home for Kay, Nix and the crew !"
―Arnaud Kleindienst, on designing Trailblazer's interior[3]

The Trailblazer exterior concept art

The Trailblazer was a ship that was created for the canonical video game Star Wars Outlaws, which was first showcased in the game's world premiere trailer.[4] Following the reveal, the Trailblazer later made its proper debut in Star Wars Outlaws, which was developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft[2] on August 30, 2024.[5] The ship exterior was designed by concept artists Kamil Haddad and Arnaud Kleindienst in collaboration with 3D artist Fredrik Andersson,[6] who was later responsible for modeling the ship exterior.[7] Kleindienst then designed the ship interior using the exterior design as a base to ensure that everything was proportionate.[3]
